To Kembu,

Again I go on the facts. The last census in Rwanda put the population at 8 million people. That's what the U.N. and the government of Rwanda states. The population of Rwanda for pre-war 1994 was some 6.9 million people--approximating that of Burundi. If you have documentation to the contrary please provide it.

The number of refugees you cite are just wrong. Places like Uganda and Tanzania just don't have the resources to maintain the number of refugees you claim over they years and besides there was no major war in Rwanda before 1994 to lead to that kind of exodous. Again cite some text that states that 500,000 refugees were outside Rwanda pre-1994. And besides when people leave their homes to travel to another country during times of stress it takes a long time for them to return--especially when there has been a major war. So why would the refugees living outside Rwanda return so soon after the war? Again, just cite the reports that state that large numbers of people returned to Rwanda after the war--won by Kagame and the Tutsis. Again, you might want to consult the U.N. population numbers for all they years from 1994 to 2005. World Almanac for the post-1994 years is a useful source too.

On the AIDS thing--look I live in Africa for at least 7 months every years so I know the situation on the ground. Africa's population is now 900,000 million--close to 1 billion. If this so-called pandemic were really in force the population growth of the continent would not be that rapid--given the extreme morbidity of AIDS in places where it is claimed that the health support systems are inadequate.

As I said before merely listening or reading the Western media without living in the place reported on could lead to all kinds of false beliefs.

The situation in Rwanda is complex so obviously personal anecdotes without the support of statistical and verifiable evidence would not be very reliable.

I just finished a book on the Ethiopian kingdom of Aksum. Very ancient and interesting people. Extremely advanced and very powerful. Turns out that the fall of Aksum was due to Islam. The Muslims managed to take complete control of the Red Sea which destroyed the Aksum economy.

Here is an example of a negative impact to a GREAT CHRISTIAN BLACK AFRICAN kingdom that few know anything about thanks to Islam.
