We have some acquaintances that have invited us to visit with them in Minia. I am told I can take a 3 hr train ride from Cairo. Is this a safe area? Now what I mean is as safe as any other, Çairo, Luxor, Abu Simbal, etc.? also need to find the train schedule appreciate your comments and assistance. Minya is as safe as any other area in Egypt. You might have guards follow you around but it's pretty secure. In the past this was a hotbed for Islamist groups like Gama'a Islamiyya. Not anymore.

Mahalo Aussar (thanks in Hawaiian) can you tell me how I can find the train schedule from Cairo to Minya? And from Minya we want to train to Luxor. thanks again salam the coconut wireless

I think the train station in Cairo is at Ramses square,and u can call these numbers for details about booking tickets (02)348 4633 and (02)348 7354 or look here www.egypt.com or www.touregypt.net
