The British Library has announced that it will put the remains of the world’s oldest bible online for public viewing.
The remaining fragments of the Codex Sinaiticus, which are stored in Britain, Russia, Germany and a monastery in Egypt's Sinai Desert, will be scanned and made available for viewing for the first time since their discovery.
"I think it's just fantastic that thanks to technology we can now make the oldest cultural artifacts -- ones that were once so precious you couldn't show them to anyone -- accessible to everyone, in really high quality," Ulrich Johannes Schneider, director of Leipzig University Library, which holds part of the manuscript, told Reuters.
A preview, containing the Book of Psalms and the Gospel of Mark will be put online on Thursday and the full text should be available by next July.
However, the bible is likely to cause some controversy, as it contains no mention of the resurrection of Jesus. Instead the disciples enter Jesus’ tomb, find it empty and leave in fear.
The Codex Sinaiticus was written over 1,600 years ago in Greek and analysis of the pages shows it has been heavily amended over the centuries. The copy only covers part of the New Testament and contains books not found in the current Christian bible, such as the Epistle of Barnabas and the Shepherd of Hermas.
It was discovered in the Saint Catherine's Monastery by Mount Sinai by a German biblical scholar in 1844, where parts of it still remain. The British Library’s sections were purchased from the Russian authorities for £100,000 in the 1930s.

The Codex Sinaiticus contains the entire Christian Greek Scriptures and a Greek translation of parts of the Hebrew Scriptures. It is at least 1,600 years old, and it forms a vital link in our catalogue of Bible manuscripts. The Codex Sinaiticus and the publication of the Chester Beatty papyruses that helped toward authenticating the Greek Scriptures.
Thank you very much for bringing this to our attention.

This is the bible that should be read , if it is the oldest bible then it is most likely to be the most accurate as well out of the Christian bibles. It goes to show how much the original bible and the bibles of today are different.

I have read that bible you posted, doesnt ring true to me at all. And attention being on "corrections"... Those corrections alter the real meanings. I would love to be able to read the language that original bible was in, to know for sure what its meaning was. I believe in Islam fully, so all of it is just curiosity to see how close the original is to Our book.

As usual people going of half -cocked without checking the facts
The article above says...
"....as it contains no mention of the resurrection of Jesus.""
what the Bible account in MArk's Gospel ACTUALLY says is..
“Stop being stunned. YOU are looking for Jesus the Naz·a·rene´, who was impaled. He was raised up, he is not here. See! The place where they laid him. 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of YOU into Gal´i·lee; there YOU will see him, just as he told YOU.’” 8 So when they came out they fled from the memorial tomb, for trembling and strong emotion were gripping them. And they told nobody anything, for they were in fear.
Absolute rubbish in the article - the angel CLEALRY says Jesus has been resurrected...
people - get a life and read things and then EXAMINE IT . Don't just lap up every pile of vomit thrown out by the media..
