Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.

Allah is the Protector of those who have faith: from the depths of darkness He will lead them forth into light. Of those who reject faith the patrons are the evil ones: from light they will lead them forth into the depths of darkness. They will be companions of the fire, to dwell therein (For ever).

(He is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees (all things).

To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth: He enlarges and restricts. The Sustenance to whom He will: for He knows full well all things.

Meh, think I'm going to wait it out until a god comes along who would protect anyone, not just those with faith, and most certainy is loving enough to forgo any fire!

I'm definitely with you on that one WK. It is possible to believe in God and still be turned off by all the threats contained in all the Holy books.
Love Me, obey Me. Worship Me, or I will subject you to an eternity of the worst tortures ever dreamed of...
What???
Most major religious teachings have over time, been interpreted as 'Fight for ME. Die for Me. Kill for Me.

I am happy to acknowledge God, keep my nose clean and not worry too much about the hereafter.
My old mum used to say, 'Love everyone, trust some, and hurt nobody'.
That'll do.

[Confused] so the sun and the rain are God's "protection"?

No they are not. I meant that God is just and doesn't make difference between righeous and sinner, his sun rise on both.
