This forum needs some serious moderation, badly and quickly. The forum is spinning far, far out of control. Can someone please create another forum?

Why don't you set up a forum? You can get the software FREE and a much better quality than ES (which is still stuck in 1996 ). Hosting is as cheap as chips. I can run this site (which actually doesn't recieve that much traffic) on my home PC - except there would be no "High Availability" or "Disaster Recovery".
And why don't you start posting in the TNV if you're so concerned. Don't have much of that "genetics" knowledge to share but you know I'll try to keep the convos going. The other vets will post there if the regular posters would post there too. Not to mention there's top quality moderation going on over there.
Why don't you try this strategy:
Duplicate every thread you create here at the TNV. It's the least you can do.
And there's no point whinging to Sammy/neal. Clearly, Sammy does not give a damn about this forum beyond ad clicks. I mean this guy makes about $12 a day from this site - why don't you help him out and get to clicking???

A better approach would be to buy this site from Sammy. I saw it quoted on some website yesterday at about $12,000. That's about £6,000 (I'm sure we can bargain it down because of the credit crunch). I'm willing to 50/50 that with anyone. Real talk.

Uncle Charlie this is 2008. You don't ever have to create forum software from scratch. There are free cutomisable packages out there 10 times better than what ES is offering.
All you have to do is get the website application as some kind of executable (.ear or .war files if java-based), drop it on the server and you're good to go.
I can do hosting for as little as $5 a month. Of course that cost increases with traffic, but so does the click through revenue. Plus, I'd see it as an investment really so not even looking for immediate profit.

There are free applications out there like ForumCo that offer all the same features as V bulletin, but for now we could switch to a proboards type forum temporarily. We should put the measure to a vote by all the forum members.

What is wrong with the TNV? (I actually have just one thing against the TNV).
The EgyptSearch.com name is where the value lies. This is why I think TNV doesn't have a chance, from a propaganda perspective.
Of course, we can always build up a name to match EgyptSearch.com in roughly 24 months -with the right team and effort.
The problem I have with the TNV is that one, it is not owned by the dude that set it up and secondly, it does not have its own name per se. Wouldn't it be just fantastic if one of us owned say, TheNileValley.Net?
The TNV as it stands has CONTENT that is UNMATCHED anywhere on the Internet. To me that's value - I see dormant dollars $$$$ .

I'm not a big fan of phbbhost and we need a new forum thats more inclusive with everyone working together. We have some good vets and newcomers here, so we need to start a legacy apart from sammy and neal, one thats representative of the share African heritage of the people here, along with Djehuti, a polished vet. We made egyptsearch, egyptsearch didn't make us.

Most Newbies don't know the relationship between NileValley and AE. Remember this forum is to educate eh re-educate. See my post about 9 mths ago about improvements needed by TNV. BTW- ALTK implied TNV wasn't Africana is that correct?
And Hori - stop trying to "hustle" everyone. With all the millons you making you should be able to contribute a Blade or two for the server.

No this is the real TNV not some privately owned imitation that got its plug pulled as soon as its owner got bored with it. Ausar never made any other TNV. The Ebony Issues TNV was a private playground for a point of view not brokered by the real TNV players. Because it went off into fringe afrocentrics is why it became shunned.

I like these rules - except - I am OK with a "little" name calling. Once not racial. Registered about 6mths ago. No action there though.
1. Nobody is to be ridiculed for their idealogy or beliefs on this forum. People are allowed to express what they feel within the reason of the topic.

Looking at the pron and . . . .ahem, pest posting now. I have a proposal.
To get TNV "hot" why don't the "VETS" commit to make ONE post per week there.
I will post my Fayoum pics and Beja pics within the next week. I have uploaded a few studies here I will do the same at TNV.
We can all agree to meet in the "general" section. Having one or two sections for discussion is a good idea. At TNV people can get lost. It is setup for people who are knowledeable on AE.
All we need is a "yea" from the "vets" saying that they will post once a week at TNV. I trust they wil keep their word. Someone with some clout can "run" this. Altk?
Altk - I assume it moderated? I tried posting about 4 mths ago and it did not work.
Also, Hori may help in linking TNV to Google so that is comes up in searches on Ancient Egypt.

I'm for moving to TNV, regardless. Hopefully all of the vets can concentrate more resources there and soon. As Al takuri has already mentioned, we should start copying new and important threads to that site in order to build up the archive for starters. I would right now, but can't..
Whenever I try to post in the relevant sections (Dynastic Km.t, Nile valley pre-history, etc), I get this error message:

I did my first post yesterday at TNV but I had the same problem several momths ago with that error.
With PERMISSION I will start copying stuff from this site to TNV. Expect a lot of activty at TNV. I will be moving a lot of stuff over. If there is no negative response within several days, I will proceed.
I will start with the "hottest" thread. eg E3b by Bass. Bass????
Of course I will leave the JUNK out. By JUNK I mean post by gunit, EZ Snopp etc. To me DEBUNKER is ok. Different oppinion or opposing views are OK by me.

Maybe it takes sometime to be granted access. Had the same problem when I first registered.
Altk - any info?? What can one expect.

Hey Horus, or anyone, make yourself usefull!!!! Need pointers on downloading entire thread from ES to transfer to TNV. Give me some of that compu knowledge. Transfering post by post is taking too much time.
