You can see it in the way America's dominion has slipped away in its own backyard, with Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez taunting and ridiculing the superpower with impunity. Yet the setback of America's standing at the global level is even more striking. With the nationalisation of crucial parts of the financial system, the American free-market creed has self-destructed while countries that retained overall control of markets have been vindicated. In a change as far-reaching in its implications as the fall of the Soviet Union, an entire model of government and the economy has collapsed.
Ever since the end of the Cold War, successive American administrations have lectured other countries on the necessity of sound finance. Indonesia, Thailand, Argentina and several African states endured severe cuts in spending and deep recessions as the price of aid from the International Monetary Fund, which enforced the American orthodoxy. China in particular was hectored relentlessly on the weakness of its banking system. But China's success has been based on its consistent contempt for Western advice and it is not Chinese banks that are currently going bust. How symbolic yesterday that Chinese astronauts take a spacewalk while the US Treasury Secretary is on his knees.
Despite incessantly urging other countries to adopt its way of doing business, America has always had one economic policy for itself and another for the rest of the world. Throughout the years in which the US was punishing countries that departed from fiscal prudence, it was borrowing on a colossal scale to finance tax cuts and fund its over-stretched military commitments. Now, with federal finances critically dependent on continuing large inflows of foreign capital, it will be the countries that spurned the American model of capitalism that will shape America's economic future.
Which version of the bail out of American financial institutions cobbled up by Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson and Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke is finally adopted is less important than what the bail out means for America's position in the world. The populist rant about greedy banks that is being loudly ventilated in Congress is a distraction from the true causes of the crisis. The dire condition of America's financial markets is the result of American banks operating in a free-for-all environment that these same American legislators created. It is America's political class that, by embracing the dangerously simplistic ideology of deregulation, has responsibility for the present mess.
In present circumstances, an unprecedented expansion of government is the only means of averting a market catastrophe. The consequence, however, will be that America will be even more starkly dependent on the world's new rising powers. The federal government is racking up even larger borrowings, which its creditors may rightly fear will never be repaid. It may well be tempted to inflate these debts away in a surge of inflation that would leave foreign investors with hefty losses. In these circumstances, will the governments of countries that buy large quantities of American bonds, China, the Gulf States and Russia, for example, be ready to continue supporting the dollar's role as the world's reserve currency? Or will these countries see this as an opportunity to tilt the balance of economic power further in their favour? Either way, the control of events is no longer in American hands.
The fate of empires is very often sealed by the interaction of war and debt. That was true of the British Empire, whose finances deteriorated from the First World War onwards, and of the Soviet Union. Defeat in Afghanistan and the economic burden of trying to respond to Reagan's technically flawed but politically extremely effective Star Wars programme were vital factors in triggering the Soviet collapse. Despite its insistent exceptionalism, America is no different. The Iraq War and the credit bubble have fatally undermined America's economic primacy. The US will continue to be the world's largest economy for a while longer, but it will be the new rising powers that, once the crisis is over, buy up what remains intact in the wreckage of America's financial system.
There has been a good deal of talk in recent weeks about imminent economic armageddon. In fact, this is far from being the end of capitalism. The frantic scrambling that is going on in Washington marks the passing of only one type of capitalism - the peculiar and highly unstable variety that has existed in America over the last 20 years. This experiment in financial laissez-faire has imploded.While the impact of the collapse will be felt everywhere, the market economies that resisted American-style deregulation will best weather the storm. Britain, which has turned itself into a gigantic hedge fund, but of a kind that lacks the ability to profit from a downturn, is likely to be especially badly hit.
The irony of the post-Cold War period is that the fall of communism was followed by the rise of another utopian ideology. In American and Britain, and to a lesser extent other Western countries, a type of market fundamentalism became the guiding philosophy. The collapse of American power that is underway is the predictable upshot. Like the Soviet collapse, it will have large geopolitical repercussions. An enfeebled economy cannot support America's over-extended military commitments for much longer. Retrenchment is inevitable and it is unlikely to be gradual or well planned.
Meltdowns on the scale we are seeing are not slow-motion events. They are swift and chaotic, with rapidly spreading side-effects. Consider Iraq. The success of the surge, which has been achieved by bribing the Sunnis, while acquiescing in ongoing ethnic cleansing, has produced a condition of relative peace in parts of the country. How long will this last, given that America's current level of expenditure on the war can no longer be sustained?
An American retreat from Iraq will leave Iran the regional victor. How will Saudi Arabia respond? Will military action to forestall Iran acquiring nuclear weapons be less or more likely? China's rulers have so far been silent during the unfolding crisis. Will America's weakness embolden them to assert China's power or will China continue its cautious policy of 'peaceful rise'? At present, none of these questions can be answered with any confidence. What is evident is that power is leaking from the US at an accelerating rate. Georgia showed Russia redrawing the geopolitical map, with America an impotent spectator.
Outside the US, most people have long accepted that the development of new economies that goes with globalisation will undermine America's central position in the world. They imagined that this would be a change in America's comparative standing, taking place incrementally over several decades or generations. Today, that looks an increasingly unrealistic assumption.
Having created the conditions that produced history's biggest bubble, America's political leaders appear unable to grasp the magnitude of the dangers the country now faces. Mired in their rancorous culture wars and squabbling among themselves, they seem oblivious to the fact that American global leadership is fast ebbing away. A new world is coming into being almost unnoticed, where America is only one of several great powers, facing an uncertain future it can no longer shape.

Falling??? This is all a game to get Obama elected.
For some strange reason they want Obama elected. (I have no horse in this race - Being for R. Paul or Hillary) It is a ploy to get the world to re-accept Euro-America/America as the No.1 for morals and be accepted and respected as being credible after 8 years of immoral activity within and without.

This is bigger then you or me. We are all underattack. The people that rule us are the ones behind the hate and the division of races. They have Blacks hating Whites, Whites hating Blacks, Arabs, Jews, etc hating each other. As a truthseeker I notice we are against a powerful and evil enemy. They use the exact things we take for granted like entertainment and use it to brainwash and dumb us down.
Do you know that in music, one of the main weapons of the enemy they have songs now geared towards kids that are about Suicide(Sean Kingston) Touching your body(Mariah Karey) and now if you can believe this there is a song that is Number 1 that talks about a girl kissing another Girl. This is some of the lyrics: "I kissed a girl and I liked it, Don't tell my boyfriend" kissed a girl - Katy Perry. This is how blatant they are with there message of corruption. Before they had to be subliminal with there corrupt ideas. Now they are pushing there agenda as fast as they can. They want to corrupt the future(Children). Children are under attack and pressured to be mini-adults. They are being taught to be sexual and wear clothes that shows off there bodies. *Young Kids* are being brainwashed to follow these people and join the ranks of the perverse and sick. The best way to control the future, is to have the children preoccupied with sex, drugs and other filth. This is how they are trying to keep *ALL* people in mental slavery. Our society is so preoccupied with what looks good and what is sexy and now on T.V. with all these reality shows they are fooling us to be dumb. While we as a people are busy with the perversions, the powers that be are getting richer and richer, murdering whom ever gets to close to the truth. Societies corruption is what forced a young women from brazil to die because she did not think she was beautiful enough. She died of a eating disorder, she weighed 80 pounds, A grown women.
People need to wake up to the truth, whether your a christian, muslim, jew, Hindu etc where all under attack and mental slaves to these people. They have puppet governments set up that purposely keep there people poor and starving to serve these people. I know you heard about genetically modified beans. They want to be looked on as Gods. They push all this on the majority of the population.
This is why as a truthseeker we must get the message out to all the people we can. Truthseekers have a responsibility to wake up the minds of others so we can fight back. That is why I can't stand the division on this forum between Whites, Blacks, Indians, and Arabs. We as truthseekers must be the first to show people how to treat each other. That is why the insults need to stop and the all round hate needs to go. We must communicate with each other on a level of respect. Stop the hateful posts. We all know truth and we need to be the first to spark this hidden war with the powers that be. Our children must be taught truth and to not hate based on skin color. Look at how they promote homosexuality, now Lindsay Lohan is gay. They have these stars coming out claming to be gay and trust me it effects the Kids. In schools They want to teach that being gay is just another lifestyle. *They* Know children is the battleground, because they are the future. If they can get them early to believe in the system, then they can continue to have us hating, killing, and degrading each other each race and so on and so on.
Let me tell you what I saw on another website. During the olympics they had pictures of the spanish basketball team and guess what they were doing. They *WHOLE* team slanted there eyes to mock the chinese. If you think this was just one time thing, well your wrong. Can people leave there trolling out of this thread. What Jari-Ankhamun and I posted should be what is discussed.

It's so refreshing to see a truthseeker fight for people to wake up to the fact that there human rights are under attack. What we take for granted(Free speech, Expression etc) are being destroyed for the socalled "greater good". The chip implant you talk about is very serious and I gurantee that it is in the works. They think with Music and Movies they have us all lulled into a sense of comfort where they can propose these evils on us and we will just take it. This is why I have no clue why people are not taking what me and you say seriously. Instead they try to change the topic, the reason they do this is because they are scared. They don't want to believe that the government would attack its people like this. But this is the *TRUTH*. They don't care about us, White, Black, Arab, Asian, etc. All we are to them is pawns and puppets to discard when we are no longer of use. The American people have to come together and stop the hating because they are being fooled, and set up.
The first people to get the chip will be former convicts forced to get chips if they want there freedom. To tell you the truth I would have laughed at you about 3 years ago....Thats when I received a letter from a "concerned citizen"(probably some activist group of Truth Seekers like us) detailing the American Union, The National Highway and the Amero...I tossed it to the side because I thought it was just a bunch of B.S....I mean it sounded so ridiculous....
Then to my surprise I find out Bush is doing just what the letter said....
What we have to understand is that this is an old, long fight going all the way back to the early colonial era and Industrialization..... Anyone who understands history will know what is going on....

Don't be a fool, You and I both know there is no Full BLOWN out plan of inserting chips into people....at least now yet...But take a good look areound you and open your mind.....its just like a game...Ask any normal American If they would insert a chip into their body and about 95 percent would say "Hell NO"....With the Christian popularity of the Mark of the Beast and such. It's so refreshing to see a truthseeker fight for people to wake up to the fact that there human rights are under attack. What we take for granted(Free speech, Expression etc) are being destroyed for the socalled "greater good". The chip implant you talk about is very serious and I gurantee that it is in the works. They think with Music and Movies they have us all lulled into a sense of comfort where they can propose these evils on us and we will just take it. It has begun. The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative is already coming to pass, which is but one step towards the North American Union:

In April 2005, the U.S. departments of State and Homeland Security announced the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), pursuant to section 7209 of the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 (the “9/11 Intelligence Bill”). Under the WHTI, all travellers to and from the Americas (including Canada, Mexico, Central America and South America), the Caribbean and Bermuda will be required to present a passport, or other accepted document or combination of documents, when entering or re-entering the United States.(1) According to the proposed implementation schedule, air and sea travel will become subject to the WHTI on 31 December 2006, followed by land border crossings on 31 December 2007.(2)
The requirements of the WHTI are a departure from existing U.S. policy, which exempts Canadian citizens arriving in the United States from anywhere in the Western Hemisphere other than Cuba from the visa and passport requirement of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act (section 212(a)(7)). Currently, these travellers are required only to satisfy a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer of their identity (with photo identification such as a driver’s licence) and citizenship (with a birth certificate, citizenship certificate or passport) in order to enter the United States. In some instances, an oral declaration of citizenship may be accepted.(3) Canadian citizens will, however, remain generally exempt from the U.S. Visitor and Immigrant Status Indicator Technology (US-VISIT) program, which requires nearly all visitors to the United States to provide biometrics (e.g., digital finger scans and photographs) for comparison with a database of criminals and suspected terrorists.(4) ALTERNATIVE TRAVEL DOCUMENTS One of the unresolved implementation details of the WHTI is the types of documents, other than passports, that will be considered acceptable for entry or re-entry into the United States. The U.S. government has indicated that it will consider documents that: establish the citizenship and identity of the bearer; enable electronic data verification and checking; and include significant security features. Based on these criteria, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security anticipates that the following documents will be deemed acceptable in the future:(5)
* the Border Crossing Card or “laser visa” for Mexican citizens travelling to the United States from contiguous territory; and * cards used with existing international frequent traveller programs offered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, including Secure Electronic Network for Travelers Rapid Inspection (SENTRI), NEXUS and Free and Secure Trade (FAST).
In addition, on 17 January 2006, the U.S. secretaries of State and Homeland Security announced plans to develop “an inexpensive, secure, biometric passport card as an alternative to a traditional passport book” for use by U.S. citizens in crossing land borders.(6) The proposed PASS (People, Access, Security and Service) card is expected to be available beginning in late 2006 or early 2007, but few details are available at this time. To date, there is no indication that Canada will develop a similar passport alternative.(7)
In March 2005, Canada, the United States and Mexico announced the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP) of North America, which aims to protect North America from external and internal threats as well as to promote the economic well-being of citizens through further streamlining of the secure movement of low-risk traffic across shared borders. In order to advance the achievement of smart and secure borders (one of five high-priority initiatives under the SPP), leaders of the three countries agreed to work together over the subsequent two years to develop standards and options for secure documents to facilitate cross-border travel.(8)
BENEFITS AND COSTS
The WHTI aims to strengthen U.S. national security through increased border security, while simultaneously expediting the movements of frequent travellers (including those who reside in border communities). These potential benefits should be considered alongside the potential costs of the initiative, including:
* costs of implementation, including design of passport alternatives, training of border personnel, etc.; * costs to travellers – in terms of time and money – associated with obtaining or renewing passports (or acceptable alternatives), which were not previously required to cross the Canada-U.S. border; and * negative economic impacts resulting from forgone cross-border tourism, trade and commerce, if the new documentation requirements discourage travellers and businesses from crossing the Canada-U.S. border.
In addition, while it is envisioned that the WHTI will expedite border crossings for frequent and low-risk travellers, some critics believe that the new documentation requirements may create border congestion, at least in the short term. Any increases in border congestion would have cost implications – in terms of time and money – for travellers and businesses such as manufacturers, importers and exporters, as well as environmental and health costs.(9)
The costs to travellers associated with obtaining documentation to satisfy the WHTI requirements will depend on the cost of the acceptable document(s) (once they have been identified) as well as on the number of travellers who choose to obtain them.(10) These same factors – in combination with others such as the substitutability of the travel destination, the prospect of border congestion, etc. – will determine the extent of any negative economic impacts on cross-border tourism, trade and commerce.
Estimates of the percentage of Canadians and Americans who currently hold passports vary among sources and depend on the characteristics of the population considered. According to Passport Canada’s 2003-2004 Annual Report, the share of Canadians holding passports increased from 28% in 2001 to 31% in 2003 and is expected to reach 50% by 2006 or 2007.(11) Comparable data for Americans are not publicly available on the U.S. Department of State’s Web site. Recently published news articles, however, provide figures ranging from 20% to 24% for Americans and 37% to 40% for Canadians, with sources consistently reporting a higher incidence of passport ownership among Canadians than Americans. Household surveys conducted for the Canadian Tourism Commission in 2005 found that passport possession in Canada and the United States varied depending on the traveller profile, as shown in Table 1.
I have seen the ads on TV and the most PROMINENT feature of these ADS is the biometric ID card. So yes, they are going to be using chips to monitor movements.

Great information, If only there was a way to get this info out to the masses. People need to know that our freedoms are at stake and that the governments want to make us slaves to society.
