King Ngie Kamga Joseph Fon of Bandjun
Formerly a chief administator and cabinet chief for the finance Minister of Cameroun in 1964, Kamga Joseph is the thirteenth Fon of Bandjun. On the day of his predecessor’s funeral, he was stopped in the Bandjun market by two Bamileke chiefs, “the hangmen”, in the middle of the nobles and princes who wept the deceased King. Wearing a head dress made of sisal as a sign of humility, he was taken to the noblemen, the “tafo meru”, where he learned during nine weeks how to be a King

 -
Sultan of Fumban and Mfon of the Ba Amun El Hadj Seidou Njimoluh Njoyah
Eighty years old, the sultan Njoya has been on the throne for more than fifty years. At the age of twenty nine, he inherited the famous Bamun throne, founded in the sixteenth century. He was chosen, by the kingdom’s council of wisemen, among one hundred and seventy seven of his father’s children, the famous Sultan Njoya.

His father, an enlightened sovereign, spent twelve years to invent his own alphabet, made of eighty symbols. He wanted to be able to write in the Bamun language the kingdom’s history. At this time, the oral tradition dominated. In 1913, while Cameroon was still a German colony, Sultan Njoya equiped himself with his own printing house

 -
Sultan of Rey Bouba Bouba Abdoulaye
The Baba (sultan) of Rey-Bouba rules over fifty five thousand subjects, and his territory is as large as Belgium and Luxemburg reunited (35 000Km2). It is wrong to call him Lamido, because he was never a vassal to Sokoto. A former parliamentarian in the Camerounian Assembly, Bouba Abdoulaye had to leave everything and renounce modern life in order to suceed his father.

His great-grand father, Bouba Ndjidda came from Mali in 1799, with his Fulani warriors, and decided to settle on the borders of Adamawa, at the edge of the Mayo-Rey river. He placed a white flag, a silver drum, a sword and a basket containing the royal secrets, and built a palace with a surrounding wall that was 800 meters long and seven meters high.

Today these walls shelter one of the most traditional soverains of Africa. He exercises an invisible and permanent power. He is only allowed to go out three times during the year. The Baba is the center of the world and the kingdom. He knows everything, and has to know everything. Hundreds of agents keep him informed of all the movements and acts in his kingdom

By the age of 30 he was a manager in Leventis, a Greek-Nigerian conglomerate. In 1963 he became Sales Director of the state-owned National Motor in Lagos. After spotting a business opportunity during a 1964 visit to the Soviet Union, he formed a company to distribute Soviet-built vehicles and equipment in Nigeria, which became the nucleus of a widespread business empire. He also invested in real estate in his home town of Ile Ife. By the time Sijuwade was crowned Ooni in 1980 he had become a wealthy man.

from [3]

Sijuwade is a Christian. In November 2009 he attended the annual general meeting of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria accompanied by 17 other traditional rulers. Sultan Muhamadu Kabir Usman
Kabir's reign was characterized by his down to earth nature. Kabir was well educated and knew the Qur'an well, he was therefore considered both as an emir and an Islamic scholar, and was known to have written whole copies of the Qur'an with his hand. Kabir was known by the epithet "Limamin Sarakuna dan Shehu" (The imam of emirs, the son of Shehu). Kabir also created new districts in the emirate during his reign.

One of the highlights of Kabir's reign was the creation of Katsina State, comprising Katsina and Daura emirates, out of the then Kaduna State. Kabir also demolished the famous Masallacin Dutsi, which was built by his grandfather Muhammadu Dikko in 1935, and constructed the Katsina central mosque which is still in use today.

Like his father and grandfather, Kabir was a Polo enthusiast, having started playing when he was a teenager, and playing well into his sixties. He became the life President of the Nigerian Polo association, and the Emir of Katsina charity shield tournament was held in his honor.

Kabir preached peace and tolerance, and always preached to his subjects to live in peace, he also always tried to remind them of life after death, and God's final judgement. He also received honorary doctorate degrees from the University of Benin, and the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, where he served as Chancello

Emir of Kano Ado Bayero with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan.
Bayero became emir during the first republic, at a time when Nigeria was going through rapid social and political changes and regional, sub-regional and ethnic discord was increasing. In his first few years, two pro-Kano political movements gained support among some Kano elites. The Kano People's Party emerged during the reign of Muhammadu Inuwa and supported the deposed Emir Sanusi, but it soon evaporated. The Kano State Movement emerged towards the end of 1965 and favored more economic autonomy for the province.

The death in 1966 of many political agitators from northern Nigeria, and the subsequent establishment of a unitary state, consolidated a united front in the northern region but also resulted in a spate of violence there, including in Kano. Bayero's admirers credit him with bringing calm and stability during this and later crises in Kano.

As emir, he became a patron of Islamic scholarship and embraced Western education as a means to succeed in a modern Nigeria. The constitutional powers of the emir were whittled down by the military regimes between 1966 and 1979. The Native Authority Police and Prisons Department was abolished, the emir's judicial council was supplanted by another body, and local government reforms in 1968, 1972, and 1976 reduced the powers of the emir. During the second republic, he witnessed hostilities from the People's Redemption Party led government of Abubakar Rimi.

In 2002 he led a Kano elders forum in opposing the onshore and offshore abrogation bill.

On 19 January 2013, a failed assassination attempt left two of his sons injured and his driver and bodyguard dead, among others

KING MAKOKO AUGUSTE NGUEMPIO

We are The Anziku Kingdom, also called the Teke Kingdom, the Tyo Kingdom or Tio Kingdom.

The word Anziku comes from the KiKongo Anziku Nziku meaning "to run" referring to inhabitants who leave the interior to protect the border.
The term was applied most famously to the BaTeke, which is why the state is sometimes called the kingdom of Teke or Tiyo.

Other groups within the Anziku included the Bampunu and Banzabi. The Empire is ruled by a king called a MAKOKO. This led to the state sometimes being labeled "Great Makoko" on European maps. According to the millenar tradition, the Makoko ruled over 13 crown vassal kings, also called King Princes.

Associated book: « Le Royaume TEKE » of Eugénie OPOU MOUAYINI

The traditional Teke kingdom is spread throughout central africa (parts of the following nations: Republic of Congo, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, and Angola

Kuba King Nyimi Mabiintsh IIi

The Nyimi Mabiintsh III is fifty years old. He acquired the throne at the age of twenty. As a descendant of god the creator, the king is attributed with supernatural powers. Due to his top position he is restricted by several contraints: he does not have the right to sit on the ground, and he cannot cross a cultivated field. Apart from his cook, no one has seen him eat. Moreover he never travels without him, and his personal cooking ustensils.

It took Laine three weeks to photograph the Nyimi (king) of the Kuba in his royal apparel, the “bwantshy”. The outfit made out of material stitched with beads and “cauris” (small shells used as money in Africa), weighs 160 lb. It takes more than two hours to dress the King, and two days of spiritual preparation to be sufficiently purified in order to wear the outfit. The weight and the heat of the bwantshy is such, that it is impossible to wear it more than one hour. The preceeding King had only worn it three time during his entire life

Rwenzururu was established in the 1962 as the result of a secessionist movement by the Bakonjo people in the mountainous region of western Uganda. The revolt was led by Mumbere's father, Isaya Mukirane, who was recognized as the region's king.[1] Mumbere inherited the title at age 13, and assumed the position of king at age 18. When he was 30, he made an agreement with the government of Uganda by which the government sent him to the United States for an education. He obtained political asylum in the United States in 1987, received nurse's aide training, and began working in a nursing home near Washington, D.C.. He later moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania where he continued as a nurse's aide.[1]

He kept his royal title secret during most of his 25 years in the United States.[2] In July, 2009 Mumbere mentioned his kingship in an interview with The Patriot-News, the primary newspaper of Harrisburg, and said that he was considering returning to Uganda,[1] which had recently recognized Rwenzururu and designated Mumbere as Omusinga, or king.[3]

In October 2009, Mumbere returned to his homeland, where he was crowned on October 19.[1] His authority is limited to social and cultural matters

Abune Paulos (3 November 1935 – 16 August 2012)[1] was Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (1992–2012). His full title was "His Holiness Abuna Paulos, Fifth Patriarch and Catholicos of Ethiopia, Ichege of the See of St. Tekle Haymanot, Archbishop of Axum and one of the seven serving Presidents of the World Council of Churches

Following the fall of the Derg in 1991, the then Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, Abuna Merkorios, was dethroned in circumstances that remain under dispute. Patriarch Abune Merkorios and his supporters maintain that he was forced from office by the new EPRDF-led government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and its supporters, while his opponents maintain that the Patriarch abdicated following numerous protests against him by the faithful. His attempt to reverse his abdication was refused by the Holy Synod of the Church which authorized a new Patriarchal election. Abune Paulos was elected in 1992, and Abune Merkorios and his supporters went into exile, establishing a rival synod in the United States. The enthronement of Abune Paulos as Patriarch is still recognized by all the canonical Orthodox Christian Churches, including the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria Patriarchate in Alexandria, Egypt.[citation needed] He was the first Tigray head of the church

Actual decision-making power lies with an assembly of notables representing local chiefdoms.

This assembly elects the king from among candidates of royal blood

King of Benin

 -
Abomey King Agboli AgboDedjlani

Dedjlani, a former policeman, waited six years to retire, and then proceeded with his secret coronation ceremonies.

“Officially”, there is no longer a king in Benin. But on september 30, 1989, Dedjlani put on his royal shoes, and at the age of fifty four became King of Abomey.

Being monogamous, he was obliged to marry two more wives to take care of his royal household. When he goes out, tradition requires that he be sheltered under an umbrella with his emblem. One of wives must always be next to him, carrying the royal spitting bowl. The King also has to wear his scepter in permanence. Holding it in his hand or hanging on his shoulder, more than a symbol, the scepter is the King.

The silver dust protector worn on the nose, dates from the nineteenth century, and was inherited from the King Gbehanzin. It protected the King’s nose from the dust, during the royal processions in Abomey

King Bhumibol Adulyadej

Bhumibol Adulyadej (Thai: ภูมิพลอดุลยเดช; RTGS: Phumiphon Adunyadet; pronounced [pʰuːmípʰōn ʔàdūnjādèːt] ( listen); see full title below; born 5 December 1927) is the reigning King of Thailand. He is known as Rama IX. Having reigned since 9 June 1946, he is the world's longest-serving current head of state and the longest-reigning monarch in Thai history.[1]

King Bhumibol is respected[2][3] and revered by many Thais.[4] The King is legally considered "inviolable", and lèse majesté, that is, offence against the dignity of the monarch may be punished.[4] In 1957, the overthrow of the government was justified with allegations of lèse majesté.[5][6] Although Bhumibol invited public criticism in a 2005 speech,[7] politicians and individuals are still being arrested, though most are pardoned.[citation needed]

Bhumibol is credited with a social-economic theory of self-sufficiency. Forbes estimated Bhumibol's personal fortune, including property managed by the Crown Property Bureau which is considered national property,[8] to be US$30 billion in 2010, and he has been consistently placed at number one of the magazine's list of "The World's Richest Royals".[9][10] This estimation includes land ownership which the royal family says it does not own. The Crown Property Bureau spends money on public welfare such as youth development, however it does not pay taxes and its finances are reported only to Bhumibol.[11] Bhumibol himself has made donations to numerous development projects in Thailand, in areas including agriculture, environment, public health, occupational promotion, water resources, communications and public welfare.[12] Commemorations of Bhumibol's contributions to Thailand are ubiquitous in the Thai media

Mossi King (Burkina Fasso)

 -
Mogho Naba Baongho

After a short debate, the ruler, the Mogho Naba, reluctantly agrees to abandon his war. After all, he concedes, leaders need to remain alive to serve their people.

It is a centuries-old story, but one that is reenacted every Friday morning by the Mogho Naba at his palace in Ouagadougou, the shambling capital of impoverished, wind-swept Burkina Faso.

The ritual symbolizes the survival struggle of the 900-year-old Mossi monarchy, which is shared among four kings and is one of Africa's oldest and most resilient dynasties even though the nation is legally a republic.

After braving nearly a millennium of attacks by Arab and Berber armies, white French colonial masters and latter-day African dictators, Mossi kings and chiefs now face their toughest foe--modern society

The Mossi animist religion of worshiping ancestors and offering animal sacrifices has finally begun giving way to Islam after surviving centuries of Muslim conversion attempts.

A Mossi chief, Larle Naba Tigre, believes Islamic beliefs can coexist with animism--the Mogho Naba himself is a Muslim who also performs traditional rites. But the chief complains: "It is unacceptable that some people no longer offer sacrifices to our ancestors."

Despite the waning traditions and a lack of specified powers under the constitution, the Mossi kings and chiefs retain considerable influence in Burkina Faso's government because of their strong support among the majority Mossi people.

The hereditary Mossi aristocracy also have power to make judicial decisions in their communities and are often consulted by Parliament and the Cabinet. The kings and chiefs have feudal title over significant landholdings.

 -
Mogho Naba Baongho

His great influence over local chieftains has survived French colonial rule and even the revolution initiated since 1983 by left-wing soldiers in this West African state.

The Mossi, Burkina Faso's majority tribe, built one of the oldest and most prestigious kingdoms of West Africa, dating back to the 12th Century.

The ritual derives from an old legend that each week the emperor asks for a horse to be prepared to fetch his favorite wife who has gone up-country to visit her father.

The brief ceremony, which allows a rare sight of the Mogho Naba, flanked by pages and young girls, ends when the saddled horse is taken back inside the walled compound, banned to visitors.

Nobles wearing richly embroidered caps, court drummers and minstrels seated in the dust at a respectful distance from the scarlet-robed Mogho Naba burst into applause when two shots are fired from a musket.

The emperor, revered as "the Rising Sun" by the Mossi people, is assisted by a court made up of Naba (chiefs, in the More language). They include the Gouaga Naba, head of the imperial infantry, and the Kamsogho Naba, the chief eunuch in charge of the harem.

So-called ministers in flowing robes--traders, dentists or teachers in private life--arrive at the Friday ceremony in battered cars, on mopeds or even bicycles to pay allegiance to the Mogho Naba, a burly man in his early 30s and the 37th emperor of the Mossi.

Regarded as a semi-god by his people, he cannot be addressed directly and speaks through the Widi Naba (literally the commander of the imperial cavalry) and his \o7 de facto\f7 prime minister.

Mossi warriors fought French army columns with spears and poisoned arrows until the then-Mogho Naba fled into exile into neighboring Ghana in 1897

King Juan Carlos of Spain.

Juan Carlos I (Spanish pronunciation: [xwaŋˈkarlos][a]; Juan Carlos Alfonso Víctor María de Borbón y Borbón-Dos Sicilias; born 5 January 1938) is the current King of Spain.

Spanish dictator Francisco Franco named Juan Carlos as the next head of state in 1969.[3] He became King on 22 November 1975, two days after Franco's death, the first reigning monarch since 1931. Soon after enthronement, Juan Carlos introduced reforms to dismantle the Francoist regime and begin the Spanish transition to democracy. This led to the approval of the Spanish Constitution of 1978 in a referendum, which established a constitutional monarchy. Juan Carlos also played a major role in stopping the 1981 coup attempt.

According to the Spanish Constitution, the monarch is the head-of-state and commander-in-chief of the Spanish Armed Forces[4][5] and also plays a role in promoting Ibero-American relations, the "nations of its historical community".[4][5] In this capacity, the King of Spain serves as the president of the Ibero-American States Organization, representing over 700,000,000 people in 24 member nations worldwide. In 2008 he was considered the most popular leader in all Ibero-America

mena, many people in the modern world prefer that leaders be elected with term limits rather than life long leaders born into power (the old system)
There wer many revolutions against the old system
In England people like the Royal family for the pagentry and tradition but they prefer an elected Prime Minister to govern.
Do you agree?

Lioness I don't have any problem with any form of government like monarchy, republic, aristocracy, oligarchy, democracy, dictatorship. Different cultures and different countries have different form of governments. I don't believe in the one size feet all political system. The universal political system we have today is oligarchy or plutocracy with a front of democracy. The rich people rule behind the curtain.

Western monarchs reign they do not rule. their powers is subtle and behind the scene. Through secret societies and think tank international political organization they influence the political system. The royal family fortune and investment money is a source of great power and influence. Some bankers work for the royal families. The monarchs and Popes of this world are not puppet symbols they have great invisible power.

Ancient Egypt was made of many African tribes. Today African kings and queens remind me of the Ancient Egyptian Pharaohs. They are probably descendant of the Egyptian Pharaohs.

The political system around the world today is a mixture of money oligarchy and democracy. Many royal families of Europe, Africa, West Asia and East Asia act more like investing business families with worldwide investment.

He ascended to the throne on 1 August 2005 upon the death of his half-brother, King Fahd.

Abdullah, like Fahd, was one of the many sons of Ibn Saud, the founder of modern Saudi Arabia. Abdullah has held important political posts throughout most of his adult life. In 1961 he became mayor of Mecca, his first public office.[6] And, in 1962, he was appointed commander of the Saudi Arabian National Guard, a post he was still holding when he became king. He also served as deputy defense minister and was named crown prince when Fahd took the throne in 1982. After King Fahd suffered a serious stroke in 1995, Abdullah became the de facto ruler of Saudi Arabia until claiming the throne a decade later.

Abdullah is the sixth king of oil-rich Saudi Arabia, thus controlling 18% of the world's oil. This has made him the world's 8th most powerful person and the world's most influential Muslim. As of 2013 the kingdom boasts a GDP of over $900 billion making it among the 20 richest countries worldwide. The kingdom has been categorized as a high-income economy along with high human development. Abdullah has during his regime maintained close relations with United States and Britain and bought billions of dollars worth of defense equipment from both states.[7] Abdullah has also pushed toward more rights for women in the kingdom by giving them the right to vote and to compete in the Olympics while at the same time maintaining a rule banning them from driving

Yes it is better to have some democracy. what is also important is to have a social contract between the classes on how to share the economic pie, how all sector of society will be represented in politic and that everybody should be equal before the law.

The Rothschild family /ˈrɒθs.tʃaɪld/,[1] also known as the Rothschilds, is a family descending from Mayer Amschel Rothschild, a court Jew to the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel, in the Free City of Frankfurt, who began his banking business in the 1760s.[2][3] Unlike most previous court Jews, Rothschild managed to bequeath the wealth he acquired, and established an international banking dynasty through his five sons, that came even to surpass the most powerful families of the era such as the Barings and the Berenbergs.[4][5]

Five lines of the Austrian branch of the family have been elevated to Austrian nobility, being given five hereditary titles of Barons of the Habsburg Empire by Emperor Francis II in 1816. Another line, of the British branch of the family, was elevated to British nobility at the request of Queen Victoria, being given the two hereditary titles of Baronet (1847) and Baron (1885).[6][7]

During the 19th century, when it was at its height, the Rothschild family is believed to have possessed by far the largest private fortune in the world as well as by far the largest fortune in modern world history.[7][8][9] The family's wealth is believed to have subsequently declined, as it was divided amongst hundreds of descendants.[10] Today, Rothschild businesses are on a far smaller scale than they were throughout the 19th century, although they encompass a diverse range of fields, including finance, mining, energy, mixed farming, wine, and charities.[11][12

Jean-Jacques Dessalines (Haitian Creole: Janjak Desalin) (20 September 1758 – 17 October 1806) was a leader of the Haitian Revolution and the first ruler of an independent Haiti under the 1801 constitution. Initially regarded as governor-general, Dessalines later named himself Emperor Jacques I of Haiti (1804–1806). He is regarded as a founding father of Haiti.[1]

Dessalines served as an officer in the French army when the colony was trying to withstand Spanish and British incursions. Later he rose to become a commander in the revolt against France. As Toussaint Louverture's principal lieutenant, he led many successful engagements, including the Battle of Crête-à-Pierrot.

After the betrayal and capture of Toussaint Louverture in 1802, Dessalines became the leader of the revolution. He defeated Napoleon's forces at the Battle of Vertières in 1803. Declaring Haiti an independent nation in 1804, Dessalines was chosen by a council of generals to assume the office of governor-general

Henri Christophe (who used the anglicized version of Henry Christopher) (6 October 1767 – 8 October 1820) was a former slave and key leader in the Haitian Revolution, which succeeded in gaining independence from France in 1804. In 1805 he took part under Jean-Jacques Dessalines in the invasion of Santo Domingo (now Dominican Republic) against French forces, and was documented as killing hundreds of Dominicans, including prisoners.

After Dessalines was assassinated, Christophe retreated to the Plaine-du-Nord and created a separate government. On 17 February 1807, he was elected President of the State of Haiti, as he named that area. Alexandre Pétion was elected president in the South. On 26 March 1811, Christophe created a kingdom in the North and had himself proclaimed Henry I, King of Haïti. He also created a nobility and named his legitimate son Jacques-Victor Henry as prince and heir

In 1849 he was proclaimed Emperor of Haïti under the name Faustin I. He soon purged the army of the ruling elite, installed black-skinned loyalists in administrative positions, and created a secret police and a personal army. In 1849 he created a black nobility in the country. However, his unsuccessful attempts to reconquer the neighbouring Dominican Republic undermined his control and a conspiracy led by General Fabre Nicolas Geffrard forced him to abdicate in 1859

Central African Republic

Jean-Bédel Bokassa (French pronunciation: [ʒɑ̃ bedɛl bɔkasa]; 22 February 1921 – 3 November 1996), also known as Bokassa I of Central Africa and Salah Eddine Ahmed Bokassa, was a military officer and the head of state of the Central African Republic and its successor state, the Central African Empire, from his coup d'état on 1 January 1966 until 20 September 1979. Of this period, he served almost eleven years (1 January 1966 – 4 December 1976) as president (president for life in 1972–1976), and for almost three years he reigned as self-proclaimed emperor (4 December 1976 – 20 September 1979). Following his overthrow, the Central African Republic was restored. Bokassa's imperial title did not achieve international diplomatic recognition

In September 1976, Bokassa dissolved the government and replaced it with the Conseil de la Révolution Centrafricaine (Central African Revolutionary Council). On 4 December 1976, at the MESAN congress, Bokassa instituted a new constitution and declared the republic a monarchy, the Central African Empire. The following year, he issued an imperial constitution, announced his conversion back to Catholicism and had himself crowned "S.M.I. Bokassa 1er ", with S.M.I. standing for Sa Majesté Impériale: "His Imperial Majesty", in a formal coronation ceremony on 4 December 1977. Bokassa's full title was Empereur de Centrafrique par la volonté du peuple Centrafricain, uni au sein du parti politique national, le MESAN ("Emperor of Central Africa by the Will of the Central African People, United within the National Political Party, the MESAN"). His regalia, lavish coronation ceremony and regime of the newly formed Central African Empire were largely inspired by Napoleon I of France, who had converted the French Revolutionary Republic of which he was First Consul into the First French Empire. The coronation ceremony was estimated to cost his country roughly 20 million US dollars.[38] Bokassa attempted to justify his actions by claiming that creating a monarchy would help Central Africa "stand out" from the rest of the continent, and earn the world's respect.
