One example is the Egyptian boy, who turned out to be Kurdish and who was depicted together with an ancient portrait of Tutankhamon Other examples I seen is this scene from Tassili in Algeria presented as "original Native Americans" Here is a meme which presents a case where a African American face was photoshopped onto an original picture of a Native American woman. Djehuti Member # 6698	posted ^ LOL Although your point is taken Tazarah, I believe Archae is referring to actual historical depictions being misrepresented as something else. Modern artistic depictions of personages are a dime a dozen. Just as Lord Jesus is portrayed as European in the vast majority of images, the Buddha-- Siddhartha Gautama-- is portrayed as East Asian in the vast majority of portraits despite him being South Asian (Indian). Not to mention obese, since enlightened sages in East Asian cultures were fat which was the opposite of those in India who constantly fasted like the Buddha himself who became emaciated. Similarly, Euro Jesus is depicted with long flowing hair because priests and other holy men in Europe grew their hair long which differed from the hair style of Judean men at that time who kept their hair short (unless one took a Nazarean vow). So how persons or peoples are misrepresented also depends on the intention behind them. Is it one of pure ignorance OR is it a purposeful deception??

Archeopteryx Member # 23193	posted Yes, it has been a tradition in many countries to depict Biblical figures as belonging to ones own people. But in some countries outside of Europe, he still can be depicted as a European because of colonialism and similar historical reasons. Here are one European Jesus, one Ethiopian, one East Asian and one Swedish (picture from the 18th century).
Archeopteryx Member # 23193	posted Dan Calloway must have known that these people are not Native Americans when he posted this picture. They are Africans from the Beja people which lives in parts of Egypt and Sudan.

I seen some of it, among other "reconstructions" of the alleged Egyptian ruins in Grand Canyon. That myth has been around since early 1900s and it is still upheld by some fantasts.
