Goodevening Everyone
Rammadan is the 9 th Lunar month, very special month to the Moslems. Here in snapshots of Rammadan in Alexandrea, my home city, that could add info to the foreigners residing in Egypt:
* Groups of Egyptians have their Sunset meal (Eftar), the first meal after the whole day fasting from dawn to sunset, at restaurants, usually these groups are work associates, college students, several family relatives, or just a group of friends.
* Families rushing after Eftar to catch the last prayers (El Isha)and (El Taraweih) in the nearby mosques.

* Groups of relatives/friends gather after the last prayer to spend time extending to midnight at coffee shops/shopping malls/ casinos where amusement ranges from just music to singing while eating special meals of Rammadan (Konnafa/ Attaief)drinking Kharob/Tamer Hindy which are softdrinks free of Soda and derived from plants.
*Streets/buildings are decorated with colorful paper stripes and Lanterns (El Fanos), work done by young people through donations of residents.
This month has its joys, and I should add that our brothers and sisters the Copts of Egypt share most of the Traditions of Rammadan except for the religous rituals with the Moslem population of Egypt. Yes they the Copts are present in work associates gatherings to have group Eftar and also with groups of friends in having Eftar out at restaurants.
To all of you
Rammadan Karim

GoodEvening ES Viewrs
The Egyptian nights of Rammadan have a special joy. Last night, and after El Taraweeh prayer, at Semoha sporting club, I and my dear wife enjoyed listening to/watching a musical band and its Choral (a group of young men/women singing together).
They start with religous songs then passionate ones and end up with patriotic national songs. As if to please all the tastes, but only those of middle age or the elder likemyself. The youngesters just pass by and ignore the whole thing! They are the generation of Nancy Agram, Robby, Amer Diab, but the Arabian Musical bands play songs of AbdelWahhab, Um Kalthom, Naggat, Warda. As a man that enjoy listening to strong and sweet voices, I find in those Arabian Musical bands young men/women who in singing Solo songs for AbdelWahhab or Um Kalthom are much gifted with stronger and sweeter voices than those famous singers like Amer Diab or Ihab Tawfik, not to mention Robby. I think the younger generation enjoy the dancing music with songs that says nothing meaninful, simply because their lives do not have any thing with a considerable certainity!

Hi EveryOne
The joys of Rammadan are Extending. After taraweeh prayer I have seen several atheletic activities at Semoha Sporting club.Running a track without anny lighting just a dimmed vision from nearby street lamps. Symposiums about our ancient history, religous subjects, arts, extending from 10 PM till midnight.
Will add more later.
Salam
