It always starts the same way.

First some "innocent" woman comes to complain about how some man broke her heart and used her.

Second other people like Sara (the miserable girl) starts making comments about how fake Egyptians are, and how they steal, lie, and back stab you.

Then some people come to the Egyptians defense, some go to the foreigners defense.

Egyptians being such sensitive people get angry at all the negative generalizations made about them, and start retaliating and attacking back.

The foreigners retaliate.

Then you have your Blunts, Abduls, Moderators, Dr Judges, El Magnoon, the list goes on and on and on.

Then your foreigners attack back.

Then others run to join a happy smiley face forum where they can chat about birthdays

Then everything calms down for a while, until...................................

Another innocent victim hurt by the Egyptian tour men comes to tell her story.

The saga continues in the life of an unmoderated forum.

I think it all boils down to Dowry and Mahr.

Plus this vacation mentality of older women.

There are huge divides in cultural practices of marriage and dating between western cultures and Arab cultures.

When we come down to it after 3 years of him yelling and screaming that if my mother would only mortage or sell her home and give the proceeds to him, I would be a good woman.

Now for the most part that is over with. I have waved the Quran verses in his face where the practice of Dowry and Mahr was discouraged. The verses about how a young widower couldn't get his dead wife's mother out of the home because she gave all her money to her daughter so she could be married, and now she claims all her daughter's pocessions are her own. Naturally the son-in-law claims the opposite, and the prophet agrees with him.

Now that's a problem I have with Islam and that is the main meat of my husband's arguement to why my parent's should bail him out. Which they have never done and never will do. But that's his mentality. And his brother's.

Marriage to a westerner is love, romance, having children, toughing out the poor and rough times. Making a life of your owns without outside help. That doesn't jive with my husband. But that what he got himself into.

I didn't have to give up much. I didn't smoke, drink, do drugs, party at night, behav immodestly, wear showy things. None of that.

But I have a sneaking suspicion that he wanted my parents assets. I don't think this is abnormal.

I agree that there seems to be a pattern here. But I disagree on the following:
-You seem to be suggesting that Egyptians are wrong to respond and that they are "sensitive". Well go back and see how Americans have responded to anyone who DARES criticize America. I mean I would be buried in links and stories of utopia in the US before I can even say Dubya.
-What Egypt board exactly has no fights and is full of smilies. EM and ET were BORN out of fights for God's sake.

Kimo you are a maniac.

Go ahead blast half of the American people and Dubya! I agree whole heartedly. But you and many others generalize and remark that the entire American population is evil and behind Dubya.

I am part of the half who isn't behind Dubya. I was shaking and crying as I left my polling place. And was really depressed for weeks afterwards. Kind of helps now working the night shift.

Should I even have to say this, will it sink in? DON'T GENERALIZE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!!!!

You can slam half of us, but don't slam every single one. It isn't a UTopia. It wasn't meant to be. Socalism and communismn is rooted in utopiaism. And remember Misr is a socialist/democratic state. Much closer to utopia than the USA.

We aren't perfect. Nor do we claim to be. Our media sucks, the church is trying to take over the state. And there is too much sex on TV. Besides differences in morality is the main reason why the first 'white' Europeans migrated here. Because the Quakers were TOOOO moral for European tastes and thus were discriminated for it.

Besides Europe is a hot bed of sin, why doesn't the world point the finger at them first?

Where the **** did I generalise the American people? I don't even blame the half that voted for Bush, after all they are misled and doing it out of pure fear, so they can't be held accountable. Anyway, Sonomod, whatever, I don't care what you think.

See, that's exactly the sorry ass kind of response we get "at least we get a new president and you don't yeaaaah". Well I didn't say Egypt was okay, Egypt couldn't possibly be less okay. Anyway, have fun posting stuff that nobody reads.

You just read my post you sh*t.

At least Mr. Muburak isn't like the Syria, Jordanese, Morrocan, Algerian so called 'Presidents' and more like Monarchies.

Personally I am berated for being married to a Misryan by other non-Gulf Arabs all the time. I think its jealousy.

Naturally the male Gulf Arabs are more antagonistic towards their governments than I am.

Personally I think your a turd.

You are correct, but I never said anything about who is wrong and who is not. Its just a comment.

Americans are patriotic sometimes to a fault. They will attack eachother all day long, think Oklahoma Bombing, Waco Texas, but when attacked by outsiders, they stand together in a patriotic unison, think WTC.

I guess the same can be said about Egyptians, I've heard them criticize eachother to the point where you will think there is no unity. But when attacked by outsiders, think Israel, they unite as well.
So maybe I should replace sensitive with Patriotic for them also. No offense intended.

Plus I dont want to get on your bad side, you're one of the few people around here that speaks intelligently. ;-)

Sonomod, please tell me why do you turn every topic into an opportunity to speak about your problems with your husband. I don't understand what Mahr and Dowry has to do with this discussion.

Sometimes I think you sound so logical and others you seem a bit spacey. We call this bi-polar.

This is where the comments come from!!!!!!

Not only my own marriage woes. Since I shouldn't bring up how marriage between Kuffir infidels and the saintly Misryans work out in my diverse city.

As I have said before my city is the second leading city for inter-faith, inter-racial, inter-cultural relationships in the USA. Very few relationships I know of have survived between Muslims and Christians without the woman submitting to cultural practices from over a thousand years ago. My husband just had the opportunity 4 times in the last 5 months to come home and tell me that another one of his Muslim brothers dumped his kuffir infidel wife after he joyously cleaned out her bank account and moved to another state. Naturally men from other cultures do this too, Mexican, Peruvians, Italians, Irishmen, Russians, and even a few Indians have married up, naturalized and clean out their wives. Even go as far as selling every thing in their home.

For Christ sake we didn't see 9/11 coming and many of these ladies here didn't see the scam coming either. On our native soil.

LET just say my father has a wooden bat in his attic that's mine when my daughter is being hunted for her goods too. I know how to play Mother-in-law. And I have got a good swing too.

As for keeping my husband honest or increasingly honest, I just downloaded Jane's photo page from her Luxorflats website and flash that in his face whenever he tries to manipulate me into paying more than half of the bills and expenses. Hey you, are you an ugly stupi, uneduated Felucca boy? Where's my fresh meat? Let see you show your goods and maybe I'll be your sugar mama and you be my whore.

Next day he's all sweet and cooking me dinner and quoting the Sunnah about Husbandly responsiblity and life is good again.

Thanks akshar, you're an ugly pair and a good incentive.
