INTERPOL is seeking the help of the public to try to identify this man, photographed sexually abusing children in a series of images posted on the Internet.
The photos shown here are from a series of around 200 pictures involving 12 different young boys, believed to have been taken in Vietnam and Cambodia in 2002 or 2003.
These pictures have been produced by specialists from Germany’s federal police force, the Bundeskriminalamt, working from originals found on the Internet, which had been digitally altered to disguise the man’s face.
Extensive police efforts worldwide to identify the man have so far failed and Interpol is now enlisting the support of the media and the public to help identify him as a priority.
Anyone with information on his identity or whereabouts should contact their local police or INTERPOL’s Trafficking in Human Beings Unit via email.
BANGKOK, Thailand: Thai police said Tuesday that a suspected pedophile wanted by police around the world was a 32-year-old Canadian named Christopher Paul Neil who is believed to be in Thailand.
All of Thailand's neighbors in Southeast Asia were put on alert to watch for the suspect in case he tries to slip out of the country, Interpol said.
Interpol, the international police organization, announced Monday after issuing a global appeal for help that it had identified the man shown in about 200 Internet photos abusing young boys in Vietnam and Cambodia.
It did not make public the man's name but said he was thought to be on the run in Thailand, where security cameras documented his arrival Thursday at Thai immigration.
Thai and Cambodian police revealed the man's name, age and nationality Tuesday.
In China, a lake's champion imperils himself "We believe he is still in Thailand and we are now collecting information from neighboring countries where he committed crimes of pedophilia so we can issue an arrest warrant for him," Thai police Col. Apichart Suribunya told The Associated Press.
A Canadian Embassy spokesman declined to comment.
The Interpol agent in charge of the case, Mick Moran, said in an interview that the suspect had worked as a teacher in Thailand, Vietnam and South Korea and entered Thailand last week on a one-way, full-fare ticket from Seoul.
"Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand — all the countries in this region have all been alerted — they're all on alert and they all have border controls in place in an effort to spot the movements of this man," said Moran, who arrived in Bangkok over the weekend to coordinate the manhunt. He appealed to the suspect to surrender "to have the matter sorted out in a reasonable and adult manner."
Investigators have been hunting the man in the photos for three years, since German police discovered online photographs of him abusing underage Asian boys.
He was allegedly shown sexually abusing 12 young Vietnamese and Cambodian boys, apparently ranging in age from 6 to early teens
The man's face was initially disguised behind a digitalized swirl but German police recreated an image of him and released four reconstructed photos last week.
Interpol said that more than 350 people supplied tips to authorities worldwide. Officials are still collecting and analyzing evidence to bring charges against the man if he is arrested, it said.
"Thailand is at the center of an international manhunt, and authorities in the country, in cooperation with Interpol and police around the world, are hunting him down," Interpol chief Ronald K. Noble said Monday.
Cambodian police have "alerted all border checkpoints" to the man's identity, acting on a request from Interpol, said Keo Vanthan, a senior police official in charge of Cambodia's Interpol division. He said police were investigating whether the suspect had previously entered Cambodia.
The case marks the latest high-profile pedophile manhunt for Thailand.
John Mark Karr, who confessed to killing 6-year-old American beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey was arrested in Bangkok last year only to be freed for lack of evidence.
Like the current suspect, Karr worked as an English teacher in Bangkok and in South Korea, among other places.

They know who he is. It`s an 32 year old Canadian teacher, who worked in Thailand, on an international school. Happens a lot, adults with a sexually deviation, working in a field that is connected with children...

Christopher Paul Neil, the Canadian teacher accused of raping young boys in Vietnam and Cambodia, was arrested in Thailand Friday following a worldwide manhunt for the suspected pedophile, Reuters reported.
Neil, who had been teaching in South Korea, was identified after his digitally altered image was unscrambled by German computer experts and circulated by Interpol, who had been investigating the incidents for the last three years.
The 32-year-old native of Maple Ridge, B.C. allegedly appeared in hundreds of photographs online showing the sexual abuse of young male victims.
Neil was apprehended by Thai police early Friday in a town about two hours northeast of Bangkok after leaving South Korea last week, CBC reported.
He was photographed entering at Bangkok's international airport on Oct. 11 and the focus of the international search was centred in Thailand since then.
A warrant was issued for Neil by Thai police on Thursday for the abduction, detention and sexual abuse of a 13-year-old boy. That incident was alleged to have taken place four years ago.
Neil's family urged him to surrender to authorities to answer to the allegations.
Neil, who once aspired to be a Catholic priest, was employed earlier this year as a substitute teacher at a Catholic school in Port Coquitlam, B.C.
In 1998, he graduated from a seminary in Mission, B.C. with an arts degree, but did not receive the necessary approval to enter the priesthood.
Neil also served as a chaplain at military cadet camps in Nova Scotia and Saskatchewan during the summer from 1997 to 2000, where he counselled teenagers. No complaints against Neil were reported during that time, a military spokesman said this week.
