I wonder if it was always like this on ES, every third thread being a fight, people insulting each other like small children???
I ve tried to calm a bit people but it seams to be useless! They seam to need opportunities for insulting and being insulted... (To insult or not to insult, that s the question. Feedback to kindergarden!!!)
There are sooooo many prejudices! Isn t this a forum for people being interested in Egypt and other cultures???

Just hang in there Nike.... it comes and it goes. To keep your sanity stay out of the fighting unless you can switch off and not take it personally. And its often a complete waste of time to try to bring peace, those who want to fight will fight, with or without the rest of us. When you have been here a while, you learn to laugh at some of the nonsense spieled out here. And its almost always the anonymous ones who get really nasty. Guess that makes them cowards huh? Well, it's cyclical like everyone is saying. But the nature of the fights has been getting nastier and nastier with every cycle. I think this is the first time ES got porn spam. But the crazy characters and stuff are a constant fixture so get used to them.
Anyway I think that the "spammer(s)" is actually one person who does it every now and then to tease everyone.

Nike, I registered over a year ago and I remember this board being so aggressive that I was scarred to death to even ask about other Americans living in Alex. Took me 2 weeks to get the courage up to create a post. Sometimes I'm intimidated and then sometimes I roll my eyes. I remember this war going on with Debbie and some other member that was just non-stop, at times I almost was laughing even tho I felt sorry for her. Jane's right, def not boring!!!

Dear Nike, If you read my posts very carefully, you ought to detect that I do not personally insult anyone, and I usually put my point of view over in a far more pragmatic way than others do, who often resort to the vernacular. I have never called anyone a bad name, although many have called me names! This is OK by me because I am not offended EVER by what anyone says to me. Now this is a very nice position to be in dont you think? I expect there will be some people now who will be going back through all my previous posts to try and prove me wrong, and I invite them to do this and call me all they names they can think of. If I come across a name nobody has used on me before I will congratulate them on this board. All my best wishes to you. Charlie

Ive been looking for the page where someone referred to me (and Annie) as "fake" "fake" "fake" etc, but I cant seem to find it. Anyway all I wanted to say to whoever it was that most people had gathered that weeks ago. (they are wrong of course) but apart from that the only thing proved is that you particular penny has just dropped, viz about 3 weeks after anyone elses penny dropped.
Anyway apart from that I am known as an old git (which is why I thought I would establish here). This means simply to the uneducated in this matter that if you say something is black I will say it is white, and if something is said to be white I will swear it is black. Then when I have totally convinced you that you are wrong, then I am inclined to totally reverse the argument so that you were right in the first place. So now you know what an old git is........
