Working mothers stressed out by juggling office deadlines with child care and housework may be surprised to learn they are the healthiest women.
They stay in better shape over the long-term while homemakers have a higher chance of obesity and ill-health, a study has found.
Researchers followed 1,200 women from the age of 26 to 54. The study found that 38 per cent of long-term homemakers were obese when they were in their 50s compared to 23 per cent of women who combined the three roles of partner, mother and worker.
Lead researcher Dr Anne McMunn at University College London said the study proved that women "could have it all".
"Women who combine work with children and marriage do have better health. While it may be stressful for them at the time, their long-term health is better when they have a combination of roles."
The study is published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health from the British Medical Journal.

Mocking Bird, I would think if you tried to do too much at once, that you would be more stressed.

not enough time to go to the doctors might have something to do with the statistics!
