Have you tried Carrefour and the other big supermarkets?

If you didn't find any there, there are special stores for herbs and spices (called "attareen") that sell that stuff. It's called "Zeet bezret el-kettan" in Egyptian. If you live in Heliopolis or nearby, there's a supermarket in Roxy called Palace that has a small "attar" shop that sells it.

Dalia maybe knows the best 3attareen shops to get that.

It’s probably best to buy whole flax seeds and then grind what you want to consume over a 3 day period (refrigerate). You’ll find them in health food stores; I know the one in digla has them but only seasonally.

Flaxseed oil is useless in Egypt because it is not refrigerated. I am too tired to expound and you can do your research but you will conclude the same.

I use the regular flax seed. I just sprinkle it on all my food. I never taste it either.

Use the regular flax seed, but be sure to crack it first in a pestle and mortar, or give it a quick whiz in a food processor, otherwise iit willl mainly pass through your system undigested and do no good at all!

I thought it was the same as well ... the one that they put on fuul.
It's great on baked potatoes or freshly toasted bread. [Smile]
I use linseed / flax oil all the time. There's an organic one by Isis / Sekem that I bought in the natural food store in Degla; I'm sure the one in Zamalek sells it as well.

Linseed oil is sold by ISIS in their stores and in super markets..but the best is the flax seed oil pills in pharmacies containing omega 3,6 and 9 that are good to combat cholestrol triglycerides and hypertension.

I have bought flax seed oil from Isis (in a small bottle) here in Hurghada almost a year ago, but recently I can't find it. Maybe in Cairo?
You can find flax seed capsules (1000mg) in every pharmacy. 20 capsules for LE 25.

El Rehab has a new health food store and I just saw the flax seed oil there this morning. I think it's a chain so when I get downstairs, I'll get the name. It's specialty is different honeys. I picked up some flax seeds.

Okay, the name of the store is Imtenan Health Shops. The brochure is all in Arabic but if you want the phone numbers, I think I can figure them out....looks like there is 6-7 in Egypt. I see one phone number for Alex.
