The EU staggers! What of our citizens rights?
The Brussels mayor, the Socialist Freddy Thielemans, has, a short time ago, sent out a press release in which he has banned the demonstration on the 11th sept.

The reason for the prohibition is that he says he cannot guarantee public safety and that he won’t disturb the Islamic section of the population in Brussels.

By invoking the lack of public safety, he is precisely highlighting SIOE’s demonstration title:

Stop the Islamisation of Europe.

SIOE’s message through the 4 slogans is exactly to warn against conditions such as these, where people no longer can use their freedom of expression and feel secure, but the shocking facts are that these conditions already reign at the heart of the EU.

SIOE’s demonstration will of course happen, as a peaceful utterance of opinion, an utterance of opinion for which Moslems have countless times received permission to demonstrate in Brussels.

Therefore it is, of course, completely absurd to ban a peaceful demonstration because they are afraid of violent muslim counter-demonstrators!

The mayor in Brussels is not fully aware of his responsibility, for as a mayor at EU’s capital you cannot simply forbid ordinary European citizens to express their constitutional freedoms.

Was he mayor in Antwerp or any other town in Belgium, he would equally have to allow the freedom of expression to exist, but precisely a Socialistic mayor at EU’s capital has a greater responsibility, not just to Brussels’ own citizens, but also to the citizens of the EU as a whole.

You must expect that when the capital in the EU is called Brussels.

It will it be necessary for the people to influence politicians in Brussels, among other things through demonstrations and delivery of petitions.

SIOE is not a political party.

WE WANT TO ASSURE PEOPLE THAT THE BRUSSELS STOP ISLAMISATION OF EUROPE DEMO WILL NOT BE USED FOR PARTY POLITICAL PURPOSES

SO IF YOU ARE CONCERNED THAT PARTIES OR PEOPLE WHOM YOU CONSIDER TO BE EXTREMISTS ARE ORGANISING THE DEMO, BE ASSURED THEY ARE NOT!

THE GREATER THE NUMBER OF RATIONAL PEOPLE ATTEND THE DEMO THE LESS EXTREME IT WILL BE

SO IF YOU ARE NOT AN EXTREMIST BUT ARE WANT TO STOP THE ISLAMISATION OF EUROPE THEN YOU HAVE A DUTY TO BE AT THE DEMO!!!

Naturally SIOE has been approached by several political parties who have asked to be coordinators in their own countries.

We have been wary of accepting any political party as an official coordinator because the 11th September Brussels demo is not a party political event.

Also, people who do not support a particular political party may not join the demo if that political party is recognised as an official coordinator for a particular country.

However, SIOE are pragmatic realists and realise that members of political parties will want to attend the rally. We also realise that such parties will organise their own members to attend the demo.

As SIOE believes in democracy we have no problem with any organisation arranging its own members to attend the demo, provided they abide by the rules agreed with the Brussels authorities

RULES are here http://siad.wordpress.com/2007/07/11/aims-of-the-march-911/

A WARNING TO ORGANISATIONS

What SIOE will not tolerate is any group, especially a political party, using the demo merely as a vehicle for its self-promotion.

ANY POLITICAL PARTY TRYING TO HIJACK THE DEMO OR USE IT FOR SELF-PUBLICITY WILL BE EXPOSED AND DERIDED BY SIOE AND SIOE WILL URGE PEOPLE NOT TO VOTE FOR THAT PARTY IN FUTURE ELECTIONS!!

We are extremely serious about this. After the demo SIOE will produce videos and articles on the web and will be merciless in exposing any organisation that has attempted to undermine the demo in any way.

Stopping Islamisation of Europe is far too important for it to be used for personal promotion.

This is ridiculous!
What exactly is the "Islamisation of Europe"?
People really need to find a more productive way to spend their time.

I am sure we need to do something to keep our democracy alive and well. Even muslims in general should resist islamist political influence since this intolerant movement will hamper their freedom of speech and the way they handle their religion as well. I would welcome a major demonstration if our rightwing Dutchbased religious party over here would start to violently threat people that opposed them.
I am sure a lot of comments can be made but I do welcome the initiative to demonstrate especially on 9/11 where all those in the twintowers were killed from so many religions and nationalities.
The call for a kalifate and sharialaw is just another fascist movement and we need to be alert and not have ourselves condone it till it will be too late since we already suffer the fallout in deaththreats and violence.
Some of us had lessons over WWII where Hitler and his fascism raised so much approval and condoning among all sorts of people that we were run over before we knew it.

Certanly, any (attempt) of imposition of Islamic law in Europe shouldn't be tolerated. At least that's my oppinion. Not really a friend of Sharia.

But has this happened? I do know of some stories about muslims complaining of people eating in their neighborhoods during Ramadan and wanting to remove a statue of Santiago, the Moor-killer, considering ofensive.

I think such ideas were refused thankfully.

Not sure I like the demonstration being canceled, specially for those reason. As long as people don't become violent one should make all the demos he or she wants.

If anything I would especially demonstrate with as many people possible against any potentially violent movement. Is there any other way to tell them you want allow it and don't get hit as a person like we experience at the moment?

allright Miguel
I guess your Spanish, do you maybe have any idea how Mlebev in the thread 'dilema' Share your .. love/marriage can proceed with a minimum of cost and time to travel from Alicante or any other city in Spain to Hurghada/Egypt with her two kids?
Is there a ferry possibly? Or other ideas?
Getting intrigued here. Seems so absurd that you have to travel for a whole day from a country so near Egypt where you can be there in a whimp from London or Amsterdam.

Maybe this translates incorrectly ('islamization')? But perhaps there'd be greater momentum in this movement if they coined a more politically correct name. As far as I can understand this sounds like it represents Islam in a negative light. Just because there are muslims who don't practice the right way, that doesn't mean that the religion, or any religion, should be a scapegoat for it.

If there's a definition for 'islamization,' that I'm not aware of, that equates to extremist views--then I believe the issue lies therein with whomever coined this definition.

Disclaimer: My two cents.

This people were talking about their rights, and they feel like their rights are becoming less and less valuable because of the influence of the Islam in Europe.
Again this is an example of trying to hold a thing what is changing all the time. It is impossible to stop a culture from changing, unless you isolate it.
And what about the rights? Aren`t rights the same for everybody? Isn`t that the basement of European culture? They`re trying to take a way the rights for a certain part of people. And indeed it has similarities with what happened during WW II.
We all know what happened ...and how dangerous this is...
