I took my cat to a cat shelter/lodging for 6 days while I had t travel. I will not name it but since then I ve had 2 months of sanitary issues with the cat. He poops everywhere but in his litter! Ive tried everything but nothing helps and I am getting tired of this daily messing of the bathtubs and the house! Any advice????

Why you haven't taking him in all this time to the vet already? Please look well after your pet and allow him medical treatment. Also cats get sick sometimes. It's not his fault and believe me he's sorry. It's totally against the nature of your cat to poop everywhere but not in his toilet. Right now he can't control it. You gotta help him as an owner. Only cleaning up won't help. You need to find the cause and treat it. Once he's treated he will be happy again and you will be happy again.
On another note: How is your baby doing??

thanks, i have taken the cat to her vet but he found nothing he said change the litter which i did but it didnt help. But you know sometimes I think he is doing in on purpose because if he is caught he will run to his litter immediately!! My baby is fine and turning 4 months tomorrow but shes going through hell with teething:( sleepless nights, fever, gnawing at her hands,drooling everywhere and of course the crankiness

hmm...try changing the entire litterbox. Do you have one with a cover? Some cats are very fussy about the box itself and the litter.
Try a clay litter with clumping. Also sometimes cats can be picky about some litters hurting their paws.
I went through something similar, and I went through different brands of litter and changed the box to one with a cover, and my male is using the box now. I have to scoop it twice a day, as he will spray if I don't. ( he's neutered.)
Believe me, the cat isn't doing it because he's being a jerk, especially if he runs to the box when he sees you. He just doesn't know how to tell you that he's not comfortable using the box for some reason. You will have to play "sleuth" to figure it out. Again, try different litters and change to a covered box.

Please, duda, do not get fancy right now and start changing the litterbox and try different brands!!
From the history what you told us here he most likely suffers from a serious health condition - as it's not short-term diarrhea but prolonged for full eight weeks - and I suspect that he caught some internal parasites or some kind of infection but I am not a vet so you need to get him seen by a professional asap - but please a recommended one as they are difficult to find in Egypt. Seriously this has been going on for too long.

Umm...I think she said she already took the cat to the vet, as you can see above.
It certainly would NOT hurt to try changing the litters and the box itself while getting a second opinion.

I suspect she went to a vet who had one look at the cat who stroked him on the back and said he's fine.
You see I know what I am talking about. I had a cat there myself and rescued couple of others.
To clean the litter box won't solve the health problem for this little guy. After all he got diarrhea for 8 weeks and most likely suffers from dehydration.
IMHO she needs to get this problem fixed asap as she has also an infant in the home.

Duda about the baby's teeth:
Check out if you find teething gel in Egypt. Also they sell here soft rubber (?) teething aids you put in the fridge and then give to your baby to play and chew on there to cool the gums.
And well if the fever is getting too high you definitely need to let her get seen by a pediatrician.

Tiger I don't think she said the the cat had diarrhea.
I think she meant it just poo's everywhere .
Are cat's like dogs and can be jealous of new arrivals?
Maybe it's attention seeking rather than sick

Well you are right, HH, but I am assuming since it started happening right after the cat shelter I would think the cat caught something.
Now several questions raise up and they should have been asked by the vet:
-how old is the cat -how many time a day does the cat poop -where does the cat poops (always the same locations outside the litter box) -how does the poop looks like/does it smell -does the cat urinate outside of the litter box too?
And yes if the cat is in a stress situation and unsatisfied with a certain situation it can develop such a pattern.
But since duda mentioned her cats poops everywhere I was assuming it can't control it and it happens several times a day - which clearly would not be a healthy fact as he's not a kitten anymore.

well heres the update, we pampered the cat a bit more and changed the litter and so far (touch wood) no more accidents, I guess many factors involved, jealousy from baby and needed to change the litter....we will see, Yes i did have him checked out by a vet and he is in perfect health ( 1 yr and a half). As for the baby well she just got her 4 months vaccines and it was hell so now its teething and after vaccines effect

ladies and gentlemen.... i will keep your cat for free at my house while you're away. if the cat is somewhat friendly and potty trained. and if you can provide me with food and litter, it would be nice, but if not, its also ok. i'm very serious by the way. i'm very good with cats. and i love cats so much and know everything about them, but i dont want to have one on a permanent basis. so please, all of you who have a cat and happen to reside in cairo, my offer is for you. please inform me a few days beforehand. thanks
