What quiet, reasonably priced bars can anyone reccommend where one can quietly enjoy a drink while overlooking the Nile.

What's the difference between this question and the one in the other thread? If you're that miserable without mood elevators you should have come to work in Amsterdam!

Does the bar have to overlook the river nile? There are really many nice places in Cairo but overlooking the nile is very limited... Go have a look at the hotels by the river but be ready to pay alot!

The absolute, on the nile side. More or less in front of the Conrad Hotel.
Quiete posh too...
The Grand Hyatt Tower, expansive...
Or in Zamalek, all along the coast, some coffes are good, cheap, but don't remember if they serve alcohool. One I know, in zamalek, the bridge Ksar el Ain. once you cross the bridge from downtwon, go direcly on your left. There is a small and simple entrance. The service is crappy, but the place is cool, you are so close to the nile that you may touch it with your hand.

Check the 'Boulevedaire' restaurant/pub on the rooftop of the Nile Hilton. It has a breathtaking view of the nile, serves food and nice drinks&cocktails. It has an outdoor& indoor a/c area, both overlooking the nile, so u can go theer at anytime of the day! Food is expensive(air france has to do with it!) but the drinks r reasonably priced. Quiet &charming place at night.
Also 'Windows of the World' rest/pub on the last floor(40something) of Ramses Hilton. Wonderful view of the whole city and the nile. Great food, mezzas and drinks(wine makes sense in a place like this..) Usually playing light music, bands and twice a wk there's a brazilian bellydancer that shows up for a few hours. If ur lucky ull catch a wedding/engagement takin place, and get to enjoy the atmosphere. Either book or go early, since the 4 tables by the window are always busy.
Ofcourse, don't forget 'Sangria' or whatever it's called now. Located on corniche el nil, a bit after the World Trade Center, oppposite Arcadia mall, it's an outdoor restaurant on 2nd floor, and overlooks the nile from a very close distance, u can almost see the fish! Not bad..

Was "MyKingdomForATaba2Koshari"s comment aimed at me? It seems a rather unnecessary comment. I'm quite content. When I get to Cairo, I like the idea of taking in the night air while enjoying a glass of wine and taking in what I'm sure will be a splendind vista of the mighty Nile.
