It may sound silly, but have you tried a MAIN post office? (if you went to a small sub-post office, they would not know anything),. If you are in Cairo, try the central post office.
[This message has been edited by Medosa (edited 31 July 2005).]
If you happen to have an ATM card here for a bank account back home, they can put money into your account there and you can draw it out, free of charge from most banks here, as far as I know. That is the easiest and cheapest way I have found to get money from overseas.
I was getting bored with the forums right here as nobody answered me for 3 hours, so I went away. I would like to thank you all of you.
Though I think you might be a little bit confused. I have tried to make my self clear as far as possible.
Now I have the postal order now, but can't cash it. And i don think that any of Western Union Affiliates would be of help for me, I would give them a try.
Snoozy, did u mean to try them for postal orders, or to try to have the transfer made through these kinds of offices?
As for Penelope, I know my dear is that to have a bank account is far the better but I don't have unfortunately (and I am on my way) but till then I need the money.
I know Western Union take a large commission and Paypal does not support Egypt, moneybookers and iKobo have some difficulties.
As for the newcomer, yes my dear as stated above, I am on my way.
Debbie, I will contact back the client, and will ask for another method of transferring money.
Medosa, the answer I was given at the sub-post office was that they don't have the regulations or rules to issue money without prior notice from the sender.
Thanks, everybody, deepest thanks, I am waiting for more replies, but I will try the bank transfer. It might be the safest and fastest. I will try one of my friend's.
I really appreciate ur help.
Haven't u noticed that they are men who replied? May be when it comes to offering help, man takes the lead. Just a thought that came to my mind. May be one of you is a lady.
Thanks everyone

He he, most of them are ladies actually!!
I just meant that if they deal with Western Union money transfers, they may be more familiar with US money orders and may be able to cash it. Or Misr American Int'l bank seems well equipped to handle that type of thing. They probably do charge a decent sized commission. But I figured if you were desperate for money you'd deal with teh commission for now. After that, I think getting money wired to an account is the cheapest/easiest way. Good luck.

Shame!!
Sorry, Rania. I am a newcomer :-(())))
Woe me!!
I couldn't get the gender from the name. But that's really good that women know pretty well about money transfer.
But don you feel ashamed that you only replied to that part only? and you didn't mention the core of my message???
But I am not in a position to blame u I am the one to blame now. But really i am impressed with such wide variety of answers and good knowledge from the ladies.
Thanks ladies.
Thanks my lady. And sorry for the comment.
You know just mentioning that I was wrong is enough I believe. :-)(
Now I will try the American bank and check that long list above you given.
Thanks, Snoozin. Thanks my dear.
Est-ce que tu parles francais aussi? Tres bon. Je voudrais practicer francais. Beaucoup de gens, parlent-ils francais en Caire? Mais aussi, je dois apprendre a parler arabe. A bientot, ciao!
Susan
Merci!

I know the method but can't remember it right now. Just wait for me that evening to email you with the full reply.
For the time being, use this:
Type cafe in word and you will find it café
and then copy and paste it.
Or use Insert>Symbol in Word and then select the accented word and paste it here.
A bientot.
I find the greatest pleasure in speaking French and not typing. it is the language made for the elite to speak with it.

The method is to press the AltGr key and while holding it down press the key you want accented (you can also use Ctrl+Alt then the letter, but this means more keys!)
Hope this helps
Pres the Alt key with the numbers specified for each lettre below. Note that the numbers used are those on the Numeric Pad (at the right end of the keyboard) and not those on the Numbers Row above.
é = Alt + 130
â = Alt + 131
à = Alt + 133
ç = Alt + 135
ê = Alt + 136
è = Alt + 138
Try Alt + 147 to see the outcome cause I couldn't paste it in Explorer!!!
Now remember it is on the Numeric pad that you should press the numbers, and if you had any problem, try pressing the Num Lock key.
It is much faster to do this in Word XP or WordPad and then paste it in Internet Explorer, than to do it in Explorer directly. It takes some time!!
Enjoy!

No offence taken at all, if we get offended by each others gender, where would the human race go...the way of Dinosaurs I guess....
