From the CIA Factbook website:

Ethnic groups:
black 52%, Arab 39%, Beja 6%, foreigners 2%, other 1%

Even the army is essentially non Arab

From today's New York Times article:
"Because Sudan’s large army is mostly made up of non-Arab foot soldiers who are unwilling to carry out brutal counterinsurgency tactics on fellow non-Arabs, the government has used Arab militias as ground troops in Darfur, paying them in cash and loot from the villages they raid. But now the fighting appears to be entering a new phase, in which the rebel groups, somewhat unified militarily under the banner of the National Redemption Front, are making increasingly brazen direct attacks on government troops.

From jamestown.org:

The development of the Janjawid is a direct consequence of the ethnic composition of the Sudanese regular army. For decades the regular Sudanese army has been largely formed (60-65%) from Kordofan Nubas and recruits from Darfur. Despite the civil war, the Sudanese army also relies on a large number of troops from the south. For all the rhetoric of jihad in Khartoum, service in the military appeals to few of the Nile-based Arabs who control the political process. With the Darfur troops considered politically unreliable in fighting their kinsmen, the government sought an alternative fighting force in Darfur that could be motivated by racial hatred.

AMR1 and SAC are typical of Sudanese Arabs: they know how to hide behind their computers and attack anything Black African but ultimately they are real coward.

You know I hear alot of people say what Amr say to justify their Arabness but never do they ask exactly what Arab culture is?

So I will ask Amr what is Arab culture? What Arab culture is in Sudan?

Ausar Arab culture to Amr is Riding a Kamel wearing Jaalabiya and speaking Arabic and caring a sword if this is what an Arab is then i would say the Whole HOrn of Africa is Arab and so is West AFrica and the Whole NOrth AFrica so Africa is mostly Arab from WEst North and East.

Sudan is 80% Arabic, the Cia State in its web, it is 70%. You can not expect the CIA TO GIVE THE RIGHT NUMBER FOR ITS ENEMIES.

At least it showed that the Beja are not considered black like black darfurians in the Sudan.

By the way the Sudanese army sends Southern battalion to Darfur and send Darfurians to fight the South. No northerners die there.

The Beja are in fact Nubians , not arabized, but our people, and in fact they and arab Saudi-sudanese rebelled together against Khartoum, but it is solved now.

Sudan is not an Arab country, Arab Sudanese are the minority, they can't send Arabs to the front...there is not enough Arab in the army...you know it...Sudan is a Black African Nation...the referendum in Southern Sudan is coming Sudan...and for Darfur, things don't look good for the Sudanese government...

Amr, could you be more specific about Arab culture than just poetry, marriage customs, novels, ceremonies, etc. Also point out how these are influenced by Arabs or shared with other Arabic people on the Arabian peninsula.

I also asked you what Arabic culture was?

So describe for me what is Arabic about northern Sudanese culture?

[Embarrassed] And can you please explain how Arab is a "supreme" culture when native Africans have created civilizations in that area long before 'Arabs' even existed?? (of course I expect no answer to this question as well [Wink] )

Don't jump to conclusions, the CIA classified them in their own category, but read how that supposed Sudanese view the Beja:

quote:

Sudan is an Arab country
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These Beja people were not originally blacks, what do blacks know abour horses and camels.

They have just turned dark due to their closeness to the real Blacks

Apparently he doesn't like too much their color, which is much darker, often very dark compare to some Arab Sudanese.

And I don't think Horners would be categorized as Arab as the following poster wrote:

^Distortions of African history, not just Kemet, was a component of European imperialism. Naturally, these long discredited claims will find expression in reactionary sections of European societies and their projeny. But if as you say, don't care about such folks, then let them be the ones to step up to the plate and challenge scholarly material that disseminate through boards like this one. It should not be the aim of the objective to chase after reactionary ideologues and emboldening them, by dedicating and wasting threads on them.

Africa let me mention something to u the people of AFrica are more culturally tied to the people of the EAst than the people of the WEst Africans have more incommon with Arabs and Southeast Asians than they do with AFrican Americans & Westerners Europeans & Americans. Well AFrica for start off the African Tribal tensions are way older than the American one they tend to be about class and about land.

What's your point? I'm from Africa...European=White Bantus....Africans...look like Sans...Tutsis...Bantus....my point is that non Africans look like Africans...Basically there is nothing original about European(they have bigger noses compared to Elongated Eastern African, nothing original about Asiansn(they have less slanted eyes compared to Sans)
