Also didn't the abstract say mitochondrial haplogroups? so no autosomal data... there are ethiopians that are HV1b and J1, whilst some carry A3b2 and L0b... in reality they could carry the exact same ancestries in the exact same proportions, so I wouldn't put so much weight on haplogroups in this situation. And how was the kenya pastoral paper a "death knell"? Either way, I think most would agree that ancient Egyptians will be strongly Levantine like, the question is what causes this affinity, real Eurasian ancestry or common north African ancestry, its probably both but to varying degrees, depending on time period, region etc...
