Originally posted by Djehuti: [QB] Cobra's equation, East-Africa = Ancient Egptian, is interesting considering the geographical classifications. We all know that for a long time Western scholars have tried to seperate Egypt from the rest of Africa, and that if anything Egypt was geographically positioned as being 'North African' and North Africa in general seperated from 'Sub-Saharan' Africa to which blacks were confined. Narrowed down more specifically Egypt is in 'Northeast' Africa. The real issue is even though Egypt is in the Northern part of Africa, it is also on the eastern part of the continent as well. Which goes to show that the way Westerners have gone about dividing the regions of the African continent is all a matter of semantics. So how can one truly seperate Egypt from the rest of Africa, let alone East Africa. Sudan is also facing this same dilema of geographic classification. In some maps Sudan is a part of East Africa, in others a part of North Africa. As we know, scholars of the past have also tried to seperate Nubia from Egypt, but in vain. Europe does not seem to have this same problem or at least to the extent of Africa. For example, Greece is considered as an Eastern European country. Narrowed down, it is a Balkan country, and then distiguished from the other Balkan nations because of its 'unique' and 'significant' history it then stands out as just Greece! So why can't it be the same for Egypt in relation to the rest of Africa? [/QB]
