I've been monitoring the "Religion" forum on Egyptsearch for a while now and have witnessed how good all of the posters are when it comes to pinpointing differences between the different religions. While I know that it is human nature to always see the differences first before seeing the similarities, I think that this isn't helping any of us here.
I thought I'd start a new thread here where all of try to find similarities between our religions instead of the differences. Sounds a little amateur, but why not?

All religions have one basic idea. This is known as the Idea of Ideas or the Logos. All religions all ask the same questions: We do we come from, why are we here, and where are we going. It is the need we have to know ourselves. From this point onwards, religions fan out according to all the dogma that has been added over the centuries. In the end why there are so many differences, is because in the need everyone has to Belong they have accepted the dogma, until in the end they are actually worshipping the dogma, and god is sidelined altogether in some cases. Until people are able to see through the dogma, and this doctrine and that doctrine, there will be no similarities. They all speak of God as the "right" god. The moment anyone says such a thing, then they are worshiping an idol of their own making for God is neither Right nor wrong! God is God and there is nothing else. Charlie.

Let's just say that I'm male (obvious) and that I live in Egypt. I don't want to reveal my religion or my nationality, because I want people to listen to my opinions, and not judge them based on my nationality/religion/ethnic origin. Hope that's fair to all.
Anything else you would like to know about me? Feel free to ask ...

Dear neal, I will talk about my religion ISLAM. First i will not tell different in Religions cause in islam we beleive that (Christianity-judaism-Islam) are all same religion they are different Books but its all same religion. and we all worship to same god. and we also beleive that when judaism came it came to complete a certain part of this one Religion then Chrisitainity came to finish another part of the same religion then Islam came to end this religion.So they compeleting each others so its suppose to be not different in anything. if I will talk about the similiarity in this books. all this books even the corrupted one tell the people to. love god , worship to god, Love each other, make good deeds, help each other, don't make sex else with your wife,...etc all the good values as human.
we just disagree about that some main point we know it is corrupted when it tell that jesus son of god. about his sacrifying for ppl sins,...etc

Thanks for pointing out the problem with the search function. Will look into this problem right away and tell you when it will be fixed.
Will check on the signature thing and get back to you.
As for moderation policies, they are very simple : - Everybody is free to say whatever they want - Moderators will not censor any posts unless they contain sex/porn/spam/etc.

What about moving posts to more suitable forums, generally to classified.

Like neal said, we only delete posts or threads with profanity, porn etc. I have turned the search function back on for now, it was being abused by bots and I just had to disable it for a while. And no, we are not selling the site :-)

Will try to come here and post more often in the forums.

Then you must know that if you allow such abusive behavior then that is the clientale you will attract. A few rules would be in order. Heated agruments on a topic are one thing. Personal abuse and vicious insults are quite a different thing. Or is that the "etc." in your list? Egyptsearch is a wonderful resource for people all over the world but has been greatly abused lately.

Come on everybody. Its not fair to try and get round the moderators complaining about people you dont happen to like. Moderators themselves decide how far to allow things to go, according to the type of forum they expect. This particular forum is very frequently visited. I wonder why because its not the quality of whats said. Maybe its the way its said that attracts people here. Charlie.

So why did stellalocals post get deleted?
There seems to be a completely arbitary policy, some personal attacks get deleted some get left. I don't mind heated debate but I object to personal attacks. And it would seem the moderators do......sometimes.
And as for getting in here and posting more often why don't you; Sammy 44 posts and Neal 7 posts?
I think engaging on the Petition to the moderators post would be a great start.

Hello GermanSara, How nice for you to pop up to see us all. How could I be moderator on here? I would have to delete almost everyone, and then there would only be me left and my wings. Heaven is a lonely place! Go and find out whats going on in the new board www.luxor4u.com There are people there who want to convert to Islam, and they just need some person like you to completely put them off the idea. I've noticed in your terms of service agreement when joining this site "Please note that advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate on this BB"
Would you care to delete the spammers that are posting links to other sites in direct competition with your site, that are riding off this sites coat tail because they obviously can't get any attention in any of the major search engines.

Well, Germansara, for your information I already am a moderator on the new www.luxor4u.com forum, and it is much more civilised and successful than this one, but done worry if you ever go and post on it you wont get deleted unless you say really nasty things about the Saint, or his wings, or you will, you will, you will, you will, you will YOU WILL. intresting how this topic was started w/ great intentions by a moderator, (for reason obvious, no one else seems the least bit intrested in useful idea exchange), then 3 post later turns into a drill session about the moderator, then halfway through it becomes the comon member bashing and whining about it. is it possible for you ppl to hold on to an idea and speak about it for any period of time?
i challenge this forum to hold to the origional topic of this post. i am intrested.
