Dress Code: Black Tie/ Formal. Men *really* have to wear ties, at least back in the times when I used to go there. Maybe CAT knows more about its recent situation.

Best seats I don't know what you mean! Just like other theaters I guess!

You can call and try to book, I can't remember if it would work like this. I just went there and always found seats. [Wink]

Re dress, depends what you are going to see. If it is an actual opera, definately black tie. However, I went to see one of the National Music of Egypt concerts there in November and wore my usual baggy trousers and blouse gear (as I didn't bring anything else to Cairo with me!) without any problem. Also, I have seen people going there to jazz concerts and the like (I was trying and failing to get a ticket) also in 'ordinary' clothes.

re seats, my seat in November was about 4 rows from the front and cost 100LE. (I only paid this because I didn't understand what the guy in the box office was saying to me and didn't realise til later! cheaper seats were available and I think any seat in there has a good view)

here's a photo I took in there

PS - I went on my own and no problem! During the interval there was a little stall selling tea and snacks. Programmes were FREE! (Usually cost £4-£5 in the UK).
