So it was already confirmed the new AC would be set in AE, now we get a peek at the protagonist from a promotional t shirt provided to gamestop.
Rumors are he is said to be a slave(possibly an Asiatic?)
But until I see how the rest of AE is depicted I'm going to reserve judgement.

Unless they have given the graphics an overhaul since this (possible) screenshot, I'm afraid they're probably sticking with the status quo for the time being.

@Punos_Rey and @Truthcentric here is the walkthrough. Like I said the main character is black and he seems to be from Siwa. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YX0fd4q0baQ
I just hope the rest of the Egyptians are. AC has been trash since II but this game I may pick up only because its Egypt and the mc is black.

I see what you mean, judging from the E3 walkthrough.
Although looking at some of the screenshots on the official website (e.g. this one), most of the Egyptian NPCs seem rather status-quo if you know what I mean. Unless they plan to change this in a patch or sometime before release.

^^^Yeah thats whats worrying me. Is the Egyptians being black only for the people in Siwa?

The screenshot I linked to appears to be set in Siwa though (check the URL). If the MC hadn't claimed Siwa to be his home in the E3 video, I would have suspected he was supposed to be a "Nubian" immigrant.
On the other hand, the game appears to be set in northern Egypt during the late dynastic period (there are classical-era Greeks present as well), so it may not be completely unrealistic for some of the citizens to have lighter skin in this.

^At first I too expected him to be a Nubian due to early sources saying he was a Medjay. But just now in walkthrough and new articles, he appears to be from Siwa. But even IF he is not from Siwa, the locals in Siwa(as seen by the walk through) appear to be black.
The screenshot you posted can POSSIBLY be a early showing.
And yeah I would rather it have some settings in Upper Egypt around Luxor. You are right it seems to take place around the Ptolemaic dynastic period. Would have rather the 18th or 19th dynasty period.

Anyway, have people here seen the comments for the E3 video? Half the commentators are flipping out because the protagonist looks "black" to them. And unfortunately this is not the first time I have seen pervasive racism in the gamer community.

^i watched a youtube vid and the commenter was disgusting. One guy seriously believes Bayek is an attempt by guilty whites to give achievement-less black people "revisionist history"
Always nice to see the trash of the gaming community come out in force

From this quest video it really does seem to me that at least the ethnic Egyptians are being given this "dirt brown" color that Ba Yek has. Khenut clearly has the same color as him

Yeah. They seem to be playing it "safe" by making them dark but "ambiguous looking."
However, they do sound African if that makes sense.

Have people seen this video showing the character of Ba Yek close up?
Because he looks a bit "ambiguous" to me personally. His skin tone looks like it could be on the borderline between tan and black in some of the screenshots.

He looks "Northeast African" Nubian "black" to me. But reading the comments is the reason why as of lately I've been trying to stray away from anything Ancient Egyptian. Especially the discussion on Forumbiodiversity.
Its becoming nauseating. That Mali/Mansa Musa film needs to get made asap.

The close-ups of his face do seem like they could be construed as "black" like you say. I guess the lighting of the rendering makes him look paler than he actually is.

^^^I don't know in that first E3 playthrough he looked very black and so did the people in Siwa.

Yep.. It seems in the recent trailer they made the main character less African looking.

Truth be told, as a student of game design and development, I'd really like to be able to make a game portraying the AE as black. The problem is that it's a process that requires a lot of commitment and collaboration, not to mention time and resources. It'd be quite a lot of trouble to go through.

IDK, I feel like the time period they decided to set the game is allows room for this creative decision. This is late into the ptolemaic/early roman periods. Cleopatra is "olive" in that trailer but to their credit, she's confirmed at-least HALF European (and probably had at least one copy of SLC24a5 lmao). There's not much I can be upset about personally, but then again I didn't have high hopes to begin with and though Ubisoft was gonna fuck up since I heard about the rumors so far, I'm actually slightly impressed. lol Bayek looks like Greyworm btw, it's kinda funny..considering the climate around Egyptology right now I'm surprised they even left him melanated at all.
PS. also...they still have to sell copies.
let's hope for a "reign of amanirenas" DLC package set in the future.

What do you mean by this?
I will say that in the "Launch Trailer" on the Steam page, Ba Yek still appears quite dark-skinned in certain shots. Hard to say whether that's what he really looks like or if it's the lighting at work. Ideally, I would buy the game myself right now, but I want to save money for the moment.
UPDATE: On second check, I got money. I'll buy it and provide screenies after a little playing through.

^^^Based on your screenshots the character looks more Egyptian/African especially in the skin tone and skull structure. But they still played it safe.
Also what region is the screenshot from? Because the main character is said to be from Siwa who's people looked very African from the E3 game play

The opening cinematic seems to be set in Siwa too.

I've played the game for a bit, and I have to say the general look of the Egyptian characters is very "status quo", even if some are darker than others. Will post more screenies later.
I do, but I honestly don't have the patience to debate these arrogant blowhards. Especially verbose ones like the OP. Maybe someone else here will be more willing to wade through that wall of text.

Admittedly, I was put off by the wall of text in his OP. I will take a look at it again. What areas did you feel were contradictions?
