Black people who kill each other usually do so in domestic disputes and in criminal activity/gangs Shooting up a church is Dylan Roof style not black people's style. It makes no sense
It presents the black male as a psychotic killer who does a mass shooting at random. He also shoots a person with a bag over their head in the beginning and that doesn't make sense and doesn't resemble anything going on in America where people are typically killed that way. Nothing positive for black people here or even calling attention to problems in the black community, it just doesn't fit.
So while the videos is artistic and shocking it leaves people scratching their heads because what they are seeing isn't America. People like to talk about this video thinking they know it's real meaning. But it's actually half nonsense to push our buttons but doesn't really add up to much meaning.
The best one can get from it is that America is violent, money focused and like to sing and dance at that same time but that is not much of a revelation.
Read the lyrics to the song, they are vague. People would not be talking about this song unless in the video he shot a church choir

This Is America by Childish Gambino is a strange video were Donald Glover aka Childish Gambino is dancing strangely with his upper body naked like a manstrel or a slave. This video came out after the very successfull and positive African American movie Black Panther. In the video I like how Gambino depicting the hypocrite racist behavior of some White extremist who will be laughing and smiling with you and turn around and killed an entire Church Choire. Gambino is dancing with school children probably symbolizing that schools are miseducating Black children and are not teaching them Afrocentric history. Gambino shot a seating mask Black man in the head, I think maybe he shot a Black member of the KKK or he executed an ignorant Black man. At the end of the video Gambino is running like he is going to be lynch. Donald Glover play the role of the mercenary pilot Lando Carlissian in the Star Wars movie Han Solo.
