A good man- that Kanye West. Why we even learn from him that slavery was "a choice"..
“When you hear about slavery for 400 years. For 400 years?! That sounds like a choice. You was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all? It’s like we’re mentally in prison.” --Kanye West, TMZ Interview 2018 http://www.tmz.com/2018/05/01/kanye-west-tmz-live-slavery-trump/

I noticed some people in the Black power community while not cosigning his support for Trump and partner choice found that slavery statement empowering on a certain level, that it was saying not to fall into Stockholm syndrome
I think he realizes he has mental issues more now, seemed in a better place in a recent interview. He is a brilliant producer regardless of his politics. He has a another new album coming out this month with Kid Cudi and produced Nas new release in July.
The thing I like about Kanye West is that he's not afraid to think freely even if he's wrong.

the combination of endorsing Trump and singing that I'ma about love and peace BS didn't help either.
But all in all it's a modern reflection of the famous quote by Harriet Tubman.
Whether or not it was conditioning some blacks in the past refused ownership of their own fate. and we see the same issues today.
I believe that's the point he was trying to make with the whole "mental enslavement of modern AAs.
It seems obvious that he wasn't trying to say Africans gave in a job applications for free labour and willingly packed themselves on ships.
His album is good, pusha T's is better in my opinion. I think Shake is a rising star.... was very good on Santeria

He still thinks he's a drug dealer and that is almost all he raps about. The Whitney room cover, Kanye's idea apparently was a disgrace. It's petty stupid shit mixed with world class production excellence. At least Kanye raps about something other than being a drug dealer (but says some dumb shit too)

I listen to Push when I wanna here about shit Pusha would talk about.
Pusha makes music for people who wanna here what he has to talk about.
He knows who he is, I know who he is. I can only judge the delivery of his message as I'm clearly content with the content.
& The delivery is a1.
I personally have no problem with the Album Cover but I see why some people can be upset by it. I do think it's appropriate creatively, as it is multilayered in it's own message as it related to drug culture, and Iconography in the black community.
But as far as the music goes, I can bump Daytona straight without skipping a song. I can recite the lyrics to all tracks on that album with the same energy. I can't say the same about Ye.
Though I'll give you this, Ghost town and Yikes as songs are better than any one song on Daytona.

Nas one of my 3 favorite Rappers of all time dropped his album.. After first listening to the tracks sequentially, I was initially underwhelmed but slightly intrigued as each song played.
I listened to the album a second time and had my wig pushed back as I let my guard down and appreciated all that was put in to it. Contrived lyrical content (at an unusual pace for nas) top notch production from Kanye and all around great musicality from everyone involved.
First listen: Adam and eve and simple things stood out.
Now (in order from best to worst): White Label Bonjour Cops Simple things Adam and eve Everything Not for Radio.
I can't stop listening to the first five songs.^
This is giving me Curtis Mayfield New world order vibes.. Where Curtis wasn't as technically astounding (vocally) rather he focused on delivering a message in a tight clean and digestible manor over some beautiful arrangements.
Main criticism: Not for Radio is surface level for Nas, he's been a relatively "woke" artist. Cramming all those facts in such an in your face matter will make him seem like he's a noob or a recently recruited Hotep... It's beneath him tbh. Shake bodied the chorus though.
Kanye did his thing.. Simple things and White label gives me MAdlib vibes...its good shit.

"contrived" is negative " having an unnatural or false appearance or quality : artificial "
some of the tracks sound a little to groovy for Nas

great track but Nas sounds a little too aggressive to fit this style Kanye is too experimental and the chorus too sweet to fit Nas style. Nas tyle fits better with Daytona type beats. But his style is sounding a little dated when the beats dont fit him. The critics just jocking on ye. No it's not as good as 4:44 but that is the mood ye was trying for but Nas is not up to that point yet because he didn't repent for what he did to Kelis yet. However the beats are throwback beats, the production is very good but fails to update Nas style with new challenges
** one of the best relatively new Nas songs (2011)
Nas - Nasty
this song makes you hype, fast tempo, simple, African influenced beat, this whoops anything off Nasir, makes you run it back. He's a classic bragger, needs that musically ____________________________________
clever song off Nasir too repetitive though on the slick rick sample plus mixed to loud, Adam and Eve also, yes a good one

Some of this new Kanye stuff is good but it won't catch the ear of the youth
7 songs? not enough, give me 12
Nasir 5 years in the making? A disappointment, no bangers Adam and Eve, Everything best tracks
