Bonfire Toffee is normally made for 5th November cellebrations of the only man to enter Parliament with good intentions, Guy Fawkes [Big Grin]

1Lb Demarara sugar
1/4 pint water
3oz Margerine
4oz Black Treacle
4oz Golden Syrup
1/4 level teaspoon Cream of tartar

Place all ingredients in a heavy based pan,
heat gently till sugar disolves,
increase heat, boil rapidly for approx 8 - 10 mins,
test in cold water. (see below)
Put in large shallow tin to set, break with small hammer.

To Test:

place a small blob in cold water, when its ready it should be brittle and set quickly. Boil until it is, then pour into tin.

Thanks

Treacle is what my guy calls black honey. I call it molasses. LOL

Learn something new every day.

So is that sugar like the Raw Sugar that we see here. Or Sugar in the Raw as I think it's called.

I accidentally put some of that in my triple espresso mocha macchiato at Starbucks one time. Yum! LOL

Yup. I'm sooooooooo bad. Whatever they put in it I always ask them to at least double it.

Most people drink a cup of coffee in the morning. My coffee is strong espresso. Don't like dirty water. LOL

i think its a bit too brittle Laura, its not a soft toffee like the stuff you get in Egypt for hair removal and sets HARD quite quickly
