i frequently get attacked by obama supporters for my absolute rejection of him. the best argument that they have is that he offers the "best chance" for someone to act in my interest and that mccain will doom us.
we're already doomed and i don't want anybody to act in my interest. i live in a country in which 5% (and really, with stratification, such a small fraction of that 5%) of the world's population consumes and pollutes 25 % of everything by force.
we are not sustainable. i don't want anybody to tell me how great this country is. it is not. everything we have we have because we took it from somebody else or abused someone to get it, at home or abroad.
americans have long confused military "success" with moral superiority. listening to obama laud our imperialist ventures makes me ill.
obama supporters keep telling me i have two choices. i don't accept that. i don't fear john mccain. he is not qualitatively different than any other imperial manager i have lived under. bill clinton sat through a million or more iraqis dying under sanctions. where were all the obama supporters then? where was their devotion to justice and peace? where was their fanaticism and desperation? where was the outrage during dec. 2000?
this country is doomed. we are unsustainable in any way, shape or form. we are disconnected from reality.
that is not fatalistic. it is not hopeless. i have no allegiance to this enterprise. it's success or failure is not the basis for my decisionmaking. my hope does not depend on the survival of the united states as the "greatest nation on the face of the earth."
will i end up dying of starvation or incarcerated? perhaps. but so have millions and millions of others and our population was at minimum complicit in helping make it so.
i don't fear armageddon. i will not vote for the lesser of predatory evils.
if 5% vote for mckinney in 2008, maybe 10% will vote for something honest in 2012. maybe it won't matter by then. but i'm sick of being a puppet in this consumer complicit global predation and listening to people pretend that support an alleged lesser of two evils is anything other than acting out of fear and in self interest to keep hold of my cheap ****.
i will die someday. i don't accept this insane framework. i'm not going to pretend i do. the people who are quitting and acting out of fear and fatalism are the ones who believe there are only two choices.

I must agree with Arwa! I too am not impressed with Obama and I am even less impressed with his socialist policies almost on the verge of communistic.
Then again McCain is defintely not much hopeful either...

Not to sound racist or anything. ONE good reason is that he's black/non-white. I don't know why or how, I find it by far easier to trust someone who looks like Obama than someone who looks like McCain.
My viewpoint is based on my experiences and is probably not very logical. But I've always found so-called "mixed race" people to be very mentally balanced (for obvious reasons), even more so than "vanilla blacks". My fiancee is one of these "mentally balanced" people and I find her to be priceless in that sense. She keeps me sane.
Most white people however, seem to literally be running hardware that is incompatible with my operating system. We just don't understand each other.

All businesses with any sense are running their IT and business apps on Linux these days... Unix is just not up to the challenges of modern computing, Windows has been discovered to be a fraud (if you're running a 24/7 business, don't touch it with a barge pole!).
Linux however, is very new age and up to the task of modern & futuristic computing. It's built on the solid open framework that Unix began (before it got corrupted by IBM & SUN) but with many improvements, and it's not all bells and whistles like Windows... The elites[best in what?] are not saving Africa's resources for themselves. They are just giving it away for next to nothing. Just heard on the radio how Congo is just signing up a lot of huge mineral concessions--copper, cobalt, etc.--to the Chinese in return for infrastructure construction--of a vary basic variety, such as roads, hospitals, etc. that could be done by the locals themselves.

Saudi Arabia is closer and has good hospitals for the wealthy, so too--if you can pay-- Kenya and South Africa.
The price of copper has been going through the roof for the past 5 years. Enough time for Zambia to build at least one good intensive care hospital, but no go. It has to be white witchcraft magic pure and simple. I mean how else to explain this kind of thing.

You'll be suprised that an African president will be as IGNORANT as I was (or most any other African) about African issues when I joined this forum.
One of my best of friends is the first son of a candidate in the fateful June 12 1993 Nigerian elections ->The Abiola vs. Tofa fiasco. I spoke to the man (who had a real chance of becoming a president of the most populous African nation),Bashir Tofa, just last year while jamming in his home in London. This man is not very bright I swear... and "junior" is turning out to be the same .
These are the sort of people that become African leaders (Tofa = member of Hausa/Fulani Cartel of Nigeria). It's not suprising why we're where we're at.
For what it's worth though - because I'm sure there are high profile (real) black leaders here, like Obenga - Bashir Tofa is a good person at heart, given the right circumstances. In fact, he seemed really depressed about Nigeria/Africa's apparent hopelessness. If you remember, when Abiola won, Tofa was cool with it. But then-current president Babangida, observing a "fair election" decided that we Africans did not deserve anything that good in our lifetimes and decided to throw a spanner in the works. Abiola was KILLED shortly after.

Truth is that in the West there are special schools where state functionaries are trained to carry out the programmatic goals of the West. There is solid training in history, politics and economics.
France has its "grandes ècoles" such l'institut d'ètudes politques", Britian has its Oxford and Cambridge, and London School of African and Oriental Studies to give their students the right approach to local and international politics. And the U.S. with its Harvard, Yale and Princeton ensure that the best CIA recruits are trained at Yale.
Most African governments have hardly tackled this issue.
