I thought it was another white racialist trope, the obsession over the failure of Haiti. Nevermind how not a single country, territory, state etc. in the carribean with a majority or significant portion of the population being black is as bad as Haiti. The closest is Jamaica, and it's still well above it. Jamaica is basically a general second world country.
Many are quite developed, like the Bahamas and St. Lucia- especially Barbados.
