Never forget how the average white mind works.

Show white faces = universal viewership
Show black faces = for black viewers and sympathizers only

Be glad for whatever Africa related documentaries the whites do
make because they don't have to make any at all not on themselves.

Put pressure on black producers where blacks have film industry.
But keep in mind money must be made. People got to get paid $$$.

I just finished watching the one on West Africa (downloaded the rest from somewhere else) and the Benin Bronze art and the host strikes me as a clueless romantic. For instance, in search of the artistic tradition found in the Benin casts he visits Mali. If he'd known about Nok culture he'd have stayed in Nigeria. If BBC were simply finding a way to be more all inclusive, they should have been up front with that. Either way, as someone else stated it's a start, and a relatively decent one at that.

And I agree with all the posters above.

I recorded the entire series onto my media-recorder, at it's current time. And backed it up on my media-server.

Has anyone seen the part about West African architecture? And how those buildings tell a story. Non of what the made is/ was coincidental.

^I think a priceless moment in the film was when the Dogon man was shown photos of the Benin Bronze casts and responded: "Wow! Fantastic! Is that pottery?" as the others gazed and gasped in awe and amazement. That was a classic piece of film and was a unique glimpse of cross-cultural appreciation within the continent its self.
