GOVERNOR Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State yesterday commissioned an ultra modern art gallery and Exhibition Centre at the Freedom Park, Lagos Island and named it after Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, in recognition of his role in preserving African cultural heritage.

Fashola, also declared the 2012 Lagos Black Heritage Festival (LBHF) open at the Freedom Park…

He said the 2012 festival with theme, “The Black in the Mediterranean Blues” will feature a host of activities that will endear tourists to the country.

The festival will feature parade of masquerades from across states in Nigeria, while other social events such as music, contemporary dance, painting and photo exposition, drama, design and fashion display and cultural explorations will take centre stage in the seven-day event.

According to the festival consultant, Soyinka, who established the theme of the festival, the LBHF 2012 will be launched in series with a cultural exploration of the African – Italian connection.

Soyinka said the choice of Italy was informed by the country’s black connection and her exploits in Eritrea and Ethiopia and the way the Italian government returned some of the stolen African artifacts in its collection, saying that next year edition will be Portugal followed by Brazil.

On the thrust of the festival, he said: “In its effort to broaden and deepen the knowledge of Africa of herself, both historically and contemporaneously, always within the context of Recall and Celebration, the LBHF has embarked on no less a concept than the mapping out of the Black African presence in the Mediterranean under the theme Black Mediterranean.”

The cat is outta the bag.

The history of those past black Muurish Roman Emperors shall be known and told to our youths. So too, with the history of the black Greeks, and the Anatolians.

Nigeria is the biggest black country in the world. When Nigeria wakes, pink ass you better quake!

Someone was paying attention to IronLion!

Heey, Jari-jari, are you still there? Lionese, are you paying attention?

Someone heard when the Lion roar!

The Moors of MonteNegro

The Blacks of Ulcinj (aka the Nigri/Mauros Latinis)

Has anybody heard the story of the Black african families who live around Ulcinj, they date back from Roman times.[Editor: when they probably came as Moorish cavalries of the Roman legion.]

They have stayed in that area ever since keeping themselves to themselves.

I heard there are only 6 families left, but they all speak Serbo Croat.

A friend of My father Mr Cuddon, who was also my english teacher at school [an expert of Yugoslavia too], wrote a travellers guide to Yugoslavia and went in search of these people.

He searched high and low, but could not find them, until one day he was in a remote part of Montenegro near Ulcinj standing under shelter because it was pouring with rain and a deep voice asked him what the time was in perfect Serbo-Croation, he turned around and to his amazement he saw a black man, who was one of these African Montenegrins, unfortunately the black man had no info on his ancestors and had a lack of education because of no schooling, so it was hard to get any info off him.

Does anybody know anymore info on these people?

Excerpts of the article "The Africans who civilized Rome" @ Rasta Livewire

 -

Greek language, culture and so-called attainments all came from Egypt, contrary to what you may have been told in government schools. Try find the books written by Martin Bernal – The Black Athena; and Prof George J. James: Stolen Civilization, Godfrey Higgins in his book Anacalypsis, as well as books by Gerald Massey, Drussila Houston- The Wonderful Ethiopians of the ancient Cushitic Empire etc. etc.; to understand this very point.

You will come to see that Rome started off as a colony or vassal of the Kartha Hadashians (Carthage), if you were to parse your history very well. It was the influence of the Carthaginians that made Rome. Rome later got its independence and even eventually destroyed Carthage. Yet, Carthage had a thousand years of high culture and pre-eminence before Rome was born. By the time it was destroyed by Romans, Carthage was a thousand year old black African Empire, ruling the then known world through its maritime connections.

Ethiopia and Sudan greatly influenced Rome because it was from therein that the first Christian monks reached Rome and established the monastic culture, which eventually was key to the civilization of the entire Europe. See History of Monasticism

You have to stand on the shoulders of giants to be a giant. The Carthaginians, the Egyptians, the Ethiopians, the Sudanese, were all great African nations, pre-eminent in culture and sciences of their time, waaaay before Romans could read and write.

The Roman numerals, the Roman alphabets, Roman architecture, Roads, system of justice and government, all came from African nations who were in existence thousands of years before Romans knew the meaning of civilization.

So who civilized the other? The Muurs civilized Rome, and the entire Europe. The Muurs are known today as blacks, the Ethiopians, the Sudanese, the African Americans, Jamaicans, South Africans and Nigerians....
