Aug 5 (Reuters) - Zambian miners killed a Chinese supervisor and seriously wounded another on Saturday in a pay dispute at the Collum coal mine, labour minister Fackson Shamenda said on Sunday.

Chinese companies have invested more than $1 billion in copper-rich Zambia but animosity towards them is growing as Zambian workers accuse firms of abuses and underpaying.

Workers at the Collum mine, situated 325km (200 miles) south of the capital, attacked the Chinese men demanding wage rises in line with those stipulated by the government in July.

Zambia last month raised minimum wages to 522,000 kwacha ($110) for maids and household servants, and to 1.1 million kwacha ($220)for shop workers without unions.

"We are yet to establish the exact circumstances but the report I have is that one Chinese was killed and another injured as the workers demanded the new minimum wage," Shamenda told Reuters on Sunday.

Two years ago, Zambian police charged two Chinese supervisors at the Collum coal mine with attempted murder following the shooting of 13 miners in a pay dispute.

Resource-hungry China is investing heavily in Africa, a supplier of oil and raw materials like copper and uranium, but critics have warned that its companies are importing their poor track record on workers' rights.

In July, Chinese President Hu Jintao offered $20 billion in loans to African countries over the next three years, double the amount it pledged for the previous three-year period in 2009.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is regrettable that there was a loss of life.
But the message seems to be clear - at least in Zambia:
"If you want to exploit our nations resources, you must pay for the privilege!"

Good start - Some Africans aren't as dumb as we think.

^ It happens much more often in China where poor Chinese kill their wealthy bosses, due to pay disputes.

African leaders put their people in this position by not developing their minds themselves but rather audition off their mineral rights to some foreign highest bidder. The Negro leader gets millions while Africa's poor get barely livable minimum salaries for very dangerous work with serious short/long-term health consequences.

MK - I don't think anyone is harder on Africans than me. But in this case I have to give them a bye. I don't know, but I think they don't have the capital to exploit their resources themselves - at least not Zambia.

^ Mike, fuk that!
Why would you need capital when you have a few million able bodies and the ability to offer shares?
This is what China did. They had no money, but millions of workers.
Truth is, African leaders fall under Rev. Wright's Yale/Harvard indoctrinated "biscuit" description. They have to call on Albinos to help them wipe their noses.

Liar!

Ashkenazi Jews have been feeding off the riches of Zambia for decades on end.

The Indians in Zambia serve as foremen and snitches for the Juus.

Israel is one of the biggest sellers of Zambian mineral wealth like emerald, diamonds, etc.

China behave yourself .Respect your African father .In your road to world superpower you need the African country more then they need you .Pale country like Australia and Canada will not hesitate to put a mineral embargo on you if the Queen of England ask them to .So share the wealth with the Zambian by paying them a fare wage .

^ Blacks have a difficult time unifying, even in the face of death.

Believe it or not, if it were possible for blacks to capture and control the diamond markets, the Jews would simply deflate the value to the point they would be worthless.
In reality, today's synthetic diamonds now exceed the quality of natural diamonds. Understanding this, Jews have artificially inflated the value of natural diamonds.

^Quite true, diamonds are a sucker play. Their value is supposed to be based on rarity, Jewish vaults are awash with diamonds, no rarity there. So yes, if challenged they would just increase the number of diamonds in circulation and decrease the value of diamonds.

^ Meanwhile, ignorant and brain dead rappers like Jay-Z, Kanye, and other minstrels spend tens of millions of dollars for a couple thousand dollars worth of diamonds.

Gangstas my ass. They think like women.
The same tricks Jews used on Native Americans to purchase New York with glass still work 300 years later on dumb Negroes.

The problem with blacks world-wide is that unlike any other group blacks hardly ever think in proactive race terms. Blacks on the other hand tend to be parochial and reserve their cautions and hostilities for other black groups.

By contrast, other large geographical racial groups operate mainly on racial terms against blacks. When dealing with blacks East Asians such as Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans operate strictly on a racial basis.

In the case of the Chinese mine manager killed by Zambian workers the Zambian government will move quickly to punish the offenders. In China, an Africa worker or trader killed by Chinese will hardly provoke a response from Chinese authorities.
Note how quickly the international(read white) press moved to publicise this event.

The solution is Pan Africanism in a context of "black consciousness" as developed by the late Steve Biko of South Africa. But it has to be fought for. Those who oppose black interests will not easily allow this to develop.

The 2 African leaders who promoted Pan Africanism(Nkrumah) and Black Consciouness(Biko) were both brought down. Nkrumah by a U.S. engineered coup and Biko was murdered by the Apartheid regime of South Africa.

The neocolonial and greedy Ghana white-trained military was complicit in the Nkrumah case while there was never a full investigation in the murder of Biko. All was forgiven at the Truth and Reconciliation Hearings Blacks are again complicit in this.

It was a matter of time this to happen. Remember what happened to Southasian immigrants in East Africa. But look, China's main concern is to provide millions of Chinese, who lack access to land and decent living conditions. China can not to this, so they simply follow what the Europeans did in 1800 century. China does not want African minerals, but the land.

Chinese is the New White

The Zambian economy is based on the copper mining industry not diamonds. Zambia is the 8th most copper producing country in the world
Agriculture also plays a very important part in Zambia's economy providing many more jobs than the mining industry. The Zambian government has recently been granting licenses to international resource companies to prospect for minerals such as nickel, tin, copper and uranium.
Chinese investors are primarily interested in iron-ore and copper from a strategic supply perspective, as well as coking coal, uranium and platinum projects. It is also expected that the African resource sector could see more investment from India and Russia, two countries that are willing to invest in jurisdictions or geographies that are more challenging.

“The Russians are becoming increas-ingly interested in Africa as they attempt to diversify from their local asset portfolio.

“They feel comfortable operating in Africa and we are definitely going to see more Russian investment into Africa.”

Kohli adds that the Russians have a risk appetite that can be matched only by the Chinese.

The priority commodities of interest in this new wave of investment will include iron-ore, copper, coking coal, platinum and uranium.

West Africa is slowly transforming itself into the new world center for South American narco-traffickers. Guinea, Mauritania, Guinea Bissau, Ghana, Benin, Sierra Leone, and Senegal are among the most significant intermediary narco-traffic countries linked to the Colombia-Venezuela coca trade. In 2002 West Africa authorities confiscated a mere 95 kilos of coca, while in 2007 the number rose to 6.4 tons.
It is estimated that more than 50 tons of coca goes through West Africa, with an estimated wholesale value of $2 billion. The low risk of transporting by planes and ships along West Africa waters and through African countries vs. the high risk of transporting through the Caribbean makes transport more lucrative, especially given Africa’s proximity to the end users–the Europeans.
Drug use and trafficking has increased substantially not only in Europe, but in the former Soviet bloc and especially Russia where oligarchs of varying types are the real power behind the regime that gave birth to them. During the “just say No!” campaign of the Reagan era the US had the highest per capita use–US population was around 4% but consumed 40% of the world’s illegal drugs–and this is not to say that a legal pill-for-everything panacea in the US is not at its root a cultural trait.
Today, however, both UK and Spain surpass the US in per capita use of cocaine, and both countries along with Portugal and France are the major destinations for coca that comes from Latin America through West Africa. Wholesale drug traffic requires cooperation of key officials, corrupt shipping companies, and of course banks. It is cheaper and easier to bribe everyone from policemen to military officials, all the way up to govt. ministers and entire political parties in poor African countries than other parts of the world. But considering that multinational corporations from Shell Oil to Siemens have a long history of bribing African officials as they do non-Africans, narcotics traffickers’ mode of operation is no different than that of “legitimate” businesses. And if the opportunity presents itself to make a living why is “dirty money” any less valuable than “clean money,” the latter of which seems to be less than $500 a year for most Africans?
Judging on the basis of postwar recessions when per capita income has dropped as much as 50%, this means that in this current crisis Africa will not only suffer greater impoverishment than the rest of the world, but its economic problems will cause more ethnic and tribal conflict, more epidemics, more intra- and inter-continental emigration, and more political turmoil than any developed nation can expect. Such a climate is ideal for more piracy, more weapons and narcotics transfer, more human trafficking, and all of it part of the colonial and neo-colonial legacy of outward oriented economy benefiting the developed countries.

Every Kenyan I know who's been to Zambia says the same thing:
-very laid back, not neurotically prone to overwork
-overly fond of booze

So,when you see them turning violent there are definite issues to be resolved. Ideally they'd have their own gov't mining, producing and marketing their own minerals but ......SIGHHHH.
My dad who was there in 04 told me the story. A few years previously they followed the dictates of the int'l banksters,privatise/downsize/float the currency etc etc.
The national copper mine sold equipment worth millions of dollars at rigged auctions to local Indians who promptly scrapped them and exported boilers, crushers, gyrators and vibrators to ever ravenous China making a killing.
When the price headed north they lost further millions in opportunity cost as they first had to reequip-some stories can only come out of Africa.
