Mr. President's wife, Michele, is the cousin of Chicago Rabbi Capers Funnye שליט"א (link) a member of the Chicago Board of Rabbis and considered worthy of occupying the highest chair of the "Black Jews" -- American blacks whose communities date back to the late 1800s establishment of Israelite q*hilloth in the USA.
Connections extend to the Abayudaya, Lemba, and other Jews of the continent.

"Serving as Mr. Obama's guide in Giza was Dr. Zahi Hawass, Secretary-General of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities. He led the way in and around the pyramids and the Sphinx, including a visit to the Tomb of Qar, who Hawass described as a well-known priest, scholar and judge in ancient Egypt. On the wall were hieroglyphs of Qar, primitive images engraved in the stone. He was a thin man man with big ears.
"That looks like me!" exclaimed President Obama. "Look at those ears." " "Look, that's me," he told them. None of his senior staff was willing to disagree with the boss. Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel smiled politely, if not knowingly."
You cannot dispute the fact that R' Funnye is the Prez's wife's cousin nor his presence at the presidental inaugural.
JJ: You are the first cousin, once removed, of Michelle Obama. What is it like being at the White House?
RF: I've gone to the White House, particularly for the Hanukkah celebration of the Obamas. But as I told President Obama the first year that I went for his seder, 'I also went to the Bush White House for the seder. Quite frankly, both seders were nice but yours made it a little better Mr. President.'

Tukuler, you are exactly right ! Tricks are for kids.
"Among black Americans, President Barack Obama has some of the closest and deepest ties to Africa. He has visited Africa when most black Americans have not. His father was Kenyan, and his father’s side of his extended family still mainly resides in Africa. One irony of Obama’s life is that his African ties lead him away from Afrocentrism, not toward it.
1 The Black Panther Party is the most common signifier of the Black Power Movement, and that organi (...)
2A second irony is that Obama, although not Afrocentric, was still a member of an Afrocentric church led by the black nationalist Reverend Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. This irony is likely a testimony to power of black nationalism in Chicago, particularly during the “Afrocentric era” of the late-1980s and 1990s. Although Harlem is the globally-identified city of American blackness (Jackson 2001 : 17-23) and Los Angeles or Oakland might arguably have been the fount of the Black Power Movement1, no city embodied the Afrocentric era quite like Chicago. It is surprising that Obama, a mainstream politician, found himself tied to such a controversial church, but less surprising when one considers that he was active as a politician in black Chicago during the Afrocentric era. Without much effort he could have ended up connected to the even more controversial Chicago-based, black nationalist Minister Louis Farrakhan of the Nation of Islam as Jesse Jackson did in the 1980s (Rueters 1988).
3Obama originally planned to write a book discussing Afrocentrism (Obama 2004b: xiii) but changed his mind and ended up with the autobiography Dreams of My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance. Nonetheless, Dreams of My Father reveals some of his experiences with Afrocentrism and many reasons why Afrocentrism would be problematic for him. Actually, we can gain insight into Afrocentrism and into Obama by examining Afrocentrism through Obama’s eyes and Obama through Afrocentric eyes. There have been Afrocentric ideas and organizations throughout black American history, but this article discusses the relatively popular and intense Afrocentric activism during the late-1980s and 1990s in the United States, which truly constituted an “Afrocentric era”. ....."
"When questions first arose regarding his controversial relationship with the anti-American, anti-white, and anti-Semitic Jeremiah Wright (whom he called his "moral compass" and "political mentor"), the media were eager to dismiss allegations that he shared — or even heard Wright express — such beliefs. This was so despite Barack Obama having previously said he attended almost every sermon Wright gave; despite having his daughters baptized by Wright; despite giving the bulk of his charitable donations to Wright's church; despite borrowing one of Wright's favorite phrases, (not "God D--- America" and not any of the many anti-Israel tropes) "Audacity of Hope," for the title of one of his books; and despite approvingly quoting Wright's "white man's greed runs a world in need" in the same book. (A sampling of Wright's anti-Israel hits be found in Barack Obama and Israel.) Among a raft of other screeds, Wright complained that America was too close to Israel."
"Barack Obama belongs to a church that is (or was until recently) headed by what appears to be an angry and bitter old man who harbors extremely radical views about America and about race relations in general. The church could accurately be described as a black separatist organization. It engages in exactly the sort of racial segregation that the "civil rights movement" has opposed for decades. Until very recently, Senator Obama was proud to be associated with this church — but then some of Reverend Wright's sermons began to be widely publicized, and suddenly Senator Obama is trying to distance himself from his pastor of 20 years. It isn't working.
Please note that Barack Obama's web site says that he "is a committed Christian." Yet, as far as I can determine, the Trinity United Church of Christ is the only church Mr. Obama has ever attended on a regular basis."
Obama knows the Truth ! ......
(no doubt this contributes to his disrespect for Netanyahu ....ahem I mean ...Milikowsky..

Michelle's cousin knows the truth too....especially if he s a Rabbi....probably discussed it with Barack many times over those 22 years.....during that time Obama was learning at the knee of the "radical" Jeremiah Wright and thinking abut his Afrocentric book which his presidential ambitions no doubt caused his to reconsider writing. !

A Khazar is not a Jew (Judean/Judah), but a Khazar may be (partial or full) descendant of Cohen/Khan Cosher/Kosher ancestry, and plausibly linked to Caesar/Kaiser/(Black Sea)Tsar/Tauri/Horite/Horim. [just sayin', dunno if he's for real]

Did the Negev Bedouine and Falasha historically refer to themselves as "Jews", 'Hebrews", "Israelis"? Why call them Jews if they themselves don't?
I'm sure they have ancient ties, customs, names shared with other Jewish people.
To me, Jews/Hebrews/Israelis were mostly Canaanite locals who were increasingly influenced by Black Sea immigrant priests (the hierarchical Qashrut/Horite/Tauri of Crimea & their river/solar temples, oral histories, animal offerings etc.).
My guess is that this priestly group had advanced knowledge, not from space aliens or powerful gods, but because the Black Sea area before the 7.7ka deluge had been sustainably "overpopulated" due to its partly subtropical oasis refuge during the dry cold ice ages, and they were the social order-keepers there with accumulated experience & communicated this generationally. The Levites lifted (irrigation water to canals, tithes/tenth, smokey offerings, etc.); the Cohannim cleansed (kosher diet/proper morals at home, etc.) and other priests did other work (sundial - menstrual - agricultural/seasonal plant harvest calendar).

On Sunday, June 28th, Rabbi Capers Funnye will have passed the penultimate step to becoming the first Black Chief Rabbi of the twenty-first century. The International Israelite Board of Rabbis will announce at Bnai Adath Congregation in Brooklyn, New York, that Rabbi Funnye successfully completed the vetting process. His nomination was unanimous and he is running unopposed.
This means that Rabbi Funnye will become the titular head of a world-wide community of Black Jews that includes the denomination of Black Jews founded by Rabbi W.A. Matthew in Harlem in 1919, with branches throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Other Black Jews affiliated with this organization include * the Lemba of South Africa, * the Abayudaya of Uganda, * and communities of Black Jews in Nigeria.
Rabbi Funnye’s work with Black Jews in the United States and Africa made him uniquely qualified for this position. His goal as Chief Rabbi is to build closer ties with the Ethiopian Jews community that was transplanted to Israel. Rabbi Funnye has made several trips to Israel where he met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and pressed for greater acceptance of Black Jews around the world. In addition, Rabbi Funnye happens to be a cousin of Michele Obama and has met several times with President Barak Obama at the White House.
Rabbi Funnye is expected to officially assume his duties as Chief Rabbi in the fall. The formal induction ceremony will take place in Chicago where he is the spiritual leader of Beth Shalom Bnai Zaken E.H. Congregation and the only Black rabbi on the Chicago Board of Rabbis.
Personally, I find it a shame that ACCEPTANCE is one of his concerns. Acceptance is granted from others outside. RECOGNITION denotes active self agency. Recognition is an acceptable goal in my eyes.

R' Funnye participated in one of my fora at the time.
The world of Black Americans who, independently from the white Jewish peoples, follow a Judaism using Sefer Torah, Siddur, and mesorah kabbala, includes Israelites, born Jews, returnees and converts.
All affiliated congregations are precided over by parnas presidentes, rabbonim, and gabbaim from the community which is black and a multi-national commingling of USA patriated Carribeans, native born Americans, and emigres from various places in Africa (from South Africa to the Maghreb, from West Africa to Sudan).
Acclaimed since before U.N.I.A. choirmaster R' Ford left for Ethiopia, R' Matthew did not segregate the community but very few white Jews have ever joined the community and do not hold any positions of authority or power.
