I'm going to Cairo from 22nd Dec to 5th Jan to stay with a friend. Can anyone tell me what happens over the new year in Cairo or is it better to go somewhere else for the celebrations.

Also, does anyone know of any nice but cheap hotels to stay in Hurghada - we want to be near the beech and nighlife.
