CAIRO, March 21 (Reuters) - An Egyptian man was killed and 34 people including 27 German tourists were injured when a Nile cruise ship hit a bridge in southern Egypt on Tuesday, police sources said.
The upper part of the ship hit the bridge at Dendera, 480 km (300 miles) south of Cairo, as it was passing under, they said.
The ship was carrying 68 German tourists from the town of Luxor north to the Dendera area, site of a pharaonic temple, they said.

The boat did not stay on it's proper path, it went of course and actually hit the structure of the bridge side on. It had nothing to do with the height of the bridge.
Normally when passing under this bridge, the sun deck canopies are lowered.
The captain will have a lot of questions to answer on this one. It was the King Tut which had this accident.

This is truly ironic, one of the most infamous nile cruise incidents was for a ship called Dandara that sank on its way to Al Knater, on Sham el Nseem day in the sixties. The word Dandara became, thereafter, used to describe catastrophies hence, the expression "7a2lebhalko dandara".

I was on a Nile Cruise at the time on the boat called the River Nile and that boat was not far behind us. It was so sad to hear about it.
