British airliner leaving Egypt makes emergency landing in Greece
By AFP First Published: December 17, 2006 ATHENS: A Boeing 767-200 aircraft with 183 passengers on board belonging to the British airline XL made an emergency landing late Saturday at Athens, a Greek airport official said.
The pilot of the aircraft, flying from Egypt to London's Gatwick airport, asked Greek authorities to land at Athens airport after developing a problem with one of the plane's two engines, the source said.
Another aircraft from the airline was expected to arrive in Athens within hours to bring the passengers to their destination.
