I would really appreciate any advice or to hear from anyone who may have had the same experience as I am currently facing with my electricity bill.
I paid my last electricity bill in December 2010. I traveled in December and returned back to Cairo in March. During April the usual guy who checks the meter came and handed me a bill for 3,300LE. He read the meter and exclaimed at how high it was. He refused to give me the bill and disappeared.
Nothing happened until a different meter guy turned up at the door last week with the huge bill in his hand. He read the meter and told me that since I have used all that electricity I must pay the bill.
My highest bill is around 180LE during summer so I am wondering how the heck I have to pay 3,300LE for 4 months ?
My landlord was no help, he said if they can't get in to read the meter every month they automatically up you to a higher tariff and that I must pay the bill regardless.
Any advice on who to contact or where to go to get this sorted out ?
