I don't think the Kemetians had pornography
the way we do in America. We definatley see some sort of pornography on the ''Turin Ppayrus'' which shows various sexual positions around the 19th dyansty.

The Kemetians also wrote various love poems that have a erotic context about them.

Seeing someone naked in Ancient Kmt would not be a rare sight, since most Kemetians went around naked.
Sex to the Kemetians was not seen as a sheap thing, but as a sacred experiance.

As far as position is concerned, I am sure that it did exist. .

That is correct. Most of the Kemetians went around naked. The children of the Kemetians also went around naked.

By the way, most of the so called African tribes shown naked on Discovery channel are from Papua New Guinea.

there's a book out called sacred sexuality in ancient egypt that goes into this subject. i don't know if porn would be the right word back then because they seemed to be more open with their sexuality. so i don't think it was as bad as the word porn implies is today.

but the attitude around sex seems to be pretty much the same as it is today. couples were expected to be manogamous, with the obvious exception of the royalty and possibly a few other wealthy people.

and btw Memp, the reason Kemites going around naked surprises you is because the African has been conveniently removed from their culture. you'd be surprised at how much of their culture still survives today.

We mustn't forget that murals depicting AE sexuality focussed on the life of the pharaoh - not on the average Egyptian.

I have seen the sex acts depicted but I'm not sure their intentions were for sexual gratification. I have seen depictions of penises and men having sex with animals. If anyone comes across any sources that talks AE pornography as well as sexuality please feel free to post it. I am just curious to know how they viewed the sexual relationship between men-and-women as well as men-and-men as well as pornography. Were they similar to the Greeks?

Becareful with the Turin papyrus because some believe it came from the Hykos not Egyptians. The Turin papyrus dates to the 19th dyansty.

Most likley the Turin erotic papyrus is either Ramesesside or Hykos. Many papyri was copied and compiled during the Hykos era,and some stories like ''Khufu and the Magicians'' have Hykos origins.

The male in the papyrus isn't depicted in the typical way. Egyptians were rarely depicted with any facial hair or baldness. Only Asiatics and Libyans are depicted with facial hair in ancient Egyptian art. It could be a fake or it ould have been created by some foriegn dynasty like the Hyksos or a Libyan dynasty. As for it being dated to the 19th dynasty, the Ramessides came from Avaris and may have had Hyksos ancestors.

I was thinking the same too b/c I never saw any depiction of AE in that form as well as on that type of material. Its probably from a foreign dynasty.
