Lets get off the race thing for a while and talk about Khafre. Most of what we read about him deals with his pyramid. What else do we know? The Greeks say he was opressive, is this true or myth? He ruled for a quarter of a century....comments.

Which Greek historian said this? Most of what we know about various per-aa[pharoahs] comes to us down from tombs, temples, and Mantheo, the Egyptian historian who recorded all 32 dyansties.

According to most sources I have read, the reign of Khafra was a properous one. He is known to have built the second largest pyramid in Giza, built the most statues of himself, and to have been the inspiration for the face on the Her-ma-akhet[Sphinx],but some speculate that it could have been somebody well before Khafra. Other than this,we know that his name means ''appearing like Re'',and was the son of Khufu.

Ausar, I'll have to look it up at home to give you the source. The legend, if I remember it correctly, was that his son was punished by the gods for his benevolent rule after the reigns of two opressive kings.
I have never seen any compelling evidence for the 10,000 year old Sphynx, looks more like people trying to sell books.
There was no body in Khafre's tomb, no evidence of one being burned there or destroyed. The eqestion is , is it reburied somewhere? We don't seem to have much hard data on this guy for as important a king as he must have been.

Well,I doubt we will find very many Old Kingdom bodies because of the fact mummifcation did not reach it's height untill about the Middle Kingdom. The only fourth dyansty mummy we have is that of Hetephephres, and this body was destoyed by looters.

During the Old Kingdom the pharoah was the only person mummified since he was the only one promised eternal life. Commoners did not get this luxuary untill the Middle Kingdom.

Herotodus was the one that said Kafre was a tyrant. I don't remember if Herotodus was told this by someone else, but I'd guess he was seeing as how Khafre predates him by 2000 years. This is where the original number of hundreds of thousands of workers theory came from.

I don't think the face on the Sphinx looks anything like Khafre and the sphinx itself I think was made well before the reign of khafre.

There is enough evidence to at least question the true age of the sphinx, more research should be allowed to the specialists who can give us those answers

Who might it be Obenga? Some where in the pre-dyanstic or around the Old kingdom.

No idea who it is,but comparisons of Khafre and the face of the Sphinx just don't match up.

I think the face is from an earlier time perhaps even predynastic. The reconstruction done by Domigo looks nothing like Khafre. I think some have just tried to fit the Sphinx and Khafre together because it makes sense to them and fits what they want to believe.

It could have been recarved by another Pharoah in a later dynasty perhaps but I do not think Khafre ordered the creation of the Sphinx I think it is way older
