My husband was describing a dish last night but he doesn't know the name of it. He said there's a layer of "thin bread" (i'm thinking pie crust or pastry dough?), then a layer of ground beef (but he left out if there are onions/garlic/etc in it), then some chicken or beef stock poured onto it, then another layer of the same and on and on.
Does anyone know what this is? It sounds yummy!

Sounds like one, of a million versions of "Fatta".
It can also be made adding rice, or my version uses fried eggplant. Ask him if the bread is Aish Shami and toasted first.

I'll ask him tonight but I don't think it's Fatta only because he explained that one to me as a separate dish.

Hawosi is like meat in pita bread/Egyptian flat bread wrapped in paper and baked in the oven.
Ingredients 1. One pound of Ground Beef. 2. Two large chopped onions. 3. Salt and Spices (such as: Nutmeg, small bay leaves, black, hot, and white pepper) to taste. 4. Several Bread (a round per person)
1. Cook the ground beef and the onions. 2. Add salt and spices to taste. 3. Put the ground beef and the onions into Pita Bread/Egyptian flat bread 4. Wrap bread in foil. 5. Cook in the oven in a low heat until the bread is toasted.
