This dish is very popular for breakfast (non-ramadan days). But it's actually great anytime as well.

I made it for suhur tonight. Not from scratch, as I bought the dough frozen. It tastes delicious with Teh Tarik or Pulled Tea.

A common dip is curry dhal but I simply used the leftover curry from Iftar.

People don't normally make this at home as because it's so cheap to buy from restaurants and hawker stalls. But the frozen dough tastes just as good.

[A homely roti]

In Suriname we often eat roti, filled with grounded yellow peas which drop on the plate like sand when you tear the bread. it takes some skills to make them perfectly. we are rather spoiled because the roti's without filling we never get to see, only this dhalbari luxury model. Eaten with curry chicken, patatoes and long string beans.
