Motivated by revenge, criminals shower their neighbor with 70 bullets
After an eight-year hiatus two Sohag families resumed tit-for-tat retaliatory crimes when a member of the Al-Deek family was machine-gunned by two farmers from Kassab family as he was leaving the mosque following noon prayers last week. The man died instantly and his body was taken to the hospital morgue.
Major General Ahmed Khamis, assistant interior minister and director of Sohag security, received a report from Dr Ali Khairy Harraz, director general of the Sohag Public Hospital, that the hospital received a bullet-riddled body of a man in his 60s.
Investigations showed that the victim was Mohamed Mohamed Ahmed El-Sayed Al-Deek, alias Al-Sayed Al-Deek, 65, who was shot dead by two people as he was leaving the mosque.

Three tons of rotten meat impounded in Imbaba
The general administration of supplies investigation department arrested the owner of a frozen meat factory in Imbaba for storing a large quantity of meat of unknown origin. Investigations showed that the owner was selling it as imported meat.
The accused was arrested in possession of three tons of rotten meat and he was referred to the Public Prosecution for interrogation by Major General Mohsen Hefzy, assistant interior minister for Giza Security.
Major General Ali Al-Sobki, director general of Giza Investigation Department, received a notification that a man is running an unlicensed factory for frozen meat.
Investigations conducted by investigations chief Mustafa Bakri showed that the accused was storing large quantities of meat unfit for human consumption and of unknown origin.

Police foil attempt to export a ton of hashish to the Netherlands
The Interior Ministry’s Anti-Narcotics General Administration has foiled an attempt to export one ton of hashish by an Arab gang from Alexandria to the Netherlands.
The Anti-Narcotics General Administration discovered a gang whose members have not been previously convicted. The gang is led by an Egyptian-born Dutch citizen who has succeeded in brining in large quantities of hashish from an Arab country through the Western Sahara.
The trafficker had plans to smuggle the hashish cache, which he had hidden in Amiriya, to the Netherlands in a container through El-Dekheila Port.
Investigations showed that the accused, Mohamed Galal Abdel Latif, had worked in collusion with his brother, Emad, 25, and Amr Adel Gomaa, 27, to carry out the crime.
After receiving permission from the public prosecution, a force raided the gang’s villa in Amiriya, arrested the traffickers and seized a tractor-trailer laden with one ton of hashish. Also among those arrested was the truck driver Mohamed Ahmed Abdel Razeq.

Eight drown, 10 injured in car crash
At truck that overturned in Bahr Faqous canal, near Al-Daidamoun village resulted in the death of Shaimaa Mohamed Al-Sayed, 15; Manar Ezzeddin Mohamed, 16; Mai Bakri Mohamed, Shaimaa Mohamed Ibrahim, Aya Ibrahim Mohamed, 16, Suheir Mansour Al-Sayed, secondary school students; Naglaa Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz, 45, a worker; and Ehsan Ali Abdel-Sattar, 50, a housewife.
Residents of the area managed to recover four bodies.
River rescue forces, which arrived to the scene four hours after the accident, are searching for the remaining bodies.
Investigations led by Brig. Gen. Abdel-Raouf Al-Serafi, director of criminal investigation, pointed out that the cause of the accident was excessive speed, which led to disruption of the steering wheel and losing control of the car, leading to it overturning in the canal.
The injured were rushed to Faqous Central Hospital.
The Prosecution Office ordered the bodies be buried and the driver jailed for four days pending investigation.

A father-daughter gang hunts down Nasr City mall shoppers
Secret sources informed Director of the General Administration of Cairo Investigations Maj. Gen. Farouq Lashin that a jailbird from Al-Khanka and his daughter have been pick-pocketing frequenters of a large mall in Nasr City.
Investigations led by Cairo’s Fraud Investigation deputy chief Brig. Gen. Hassan Al-Sohagi revealed that the two defendants exploited the overcrowded mall before Eid to commit their crime.
The father pretends to suffer severe fatigue and falls down on the ground while his daughter steals belongings of those who come to offer assistance.
Lit. Col. Hisham Kadri ambushed the two defendants under the supervision of Maj. Gen. Sami Sidhom, Deputy Director-General, and had them arrested.

Man, son killed in a fight in Toukh

In Aghour Al-Kobra village a fight that broke out between Abou Sinna and Al-Banna families over a motorcycle, ended up with the murder of one man and his son. Investigations revealed that a member of Abou Sinna family went to the home of the second family to claim ownership of motorcycle.

When the Al-Banna family denied having any knowledge of the whereabouts of the disputed vehicle, the accused shot down Fathi Ibrahim Al-Banna and his son Ayman, while his second son, Sameh was shot in the chest and was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Security forces managed stop the Al-Bannas from retaliating and the police are still in search of the fugitives.

Vendor killed in Warraq over theft charge

The Imbaba General Hospital reported to the police that the body of 31-year-old tea seller Abdel Nabi Mohamed El-Sayed, was brought in with stab wounds.

Investigations showed that behind the crime was a jobless man called Ahmed Ibrahim, 35, who has a criminal record, and that a fight broke out between him and the victim when he learned that the victim had stolen and sold some of his tea utensils because he was desperately in need of money.

The accused went to the location of the victim on the ring road near the pyramids and after a quarrel, stabbed him to death.

Ibrahim confessed to the murder in front of the chief investigator at Warraq Police Station who ordered him referred to prosecution for interrogation.

Thief of LE 2 million worth of gold jewelry arrested

A secret source informed Major Ayman Salah, chief of investigations at Al-Darb Al-Ahmar police station a man from Imbaba frequently had been selling gold pieces of jewelry for a fraction of their real value.

Investigations showed that the suspect, 43, is a resident of Imbaba and had earlier been arrested and accused in 19 cases.

He was arrested and confessed to committing 15 robberies in Nasr City raking in some LE 2 million worth of gold chains, bracelets, earrings, bangles, watches pendants and rings. He also confessed to stealing LE 8,000 from one apartment, LE 220,000 from another and LE 620,000 from a third.

He was jailed for four days pending further investigation.

Four unemployed men massacre girl and burn her body in Manial Shiha farms

Detectives have found the corpse of a girl inside a hole in Manial Shiha farms.

The girl, 22, was collecting dates when she was slain at the neck with a sharp tool. Her body was burned in a hole.

Investigations led by Director of Criminal Investigation Brig. Gen. Mustafa Zeid uncovered that four unemployed men were behind the crime.

On the day of the incident, while smoking bango in Manial Shiha farms, the four men saw the girl working alone collecting dates. They tried to assault her sexually, but she managed to flee after insulting one of them, which outraged and prompted him to chase her. He took out a dagger and slit her throat.

LE 400,000 returned after being stolen by five men at gunpoint

Three frozen meat trade company staffers were driving the company car with LE 400,000 from headquarters in Al-Salam city to Heliopolis when a car without number plates cut them off.

Two men with small arms seized a bag filled with money at gunpoint and fled.

When the victims reported the incident criminal investigations chief Maj. Gen. Amin Ezz-Eddin formed a team that questioned the company staffers who reported the incident, Ghraib Kamel, 52, director of sales representatives; Ahmad Hosni Ibrahim, accountant; and Wael Mahmoud Abdel-Baqi, 33, a sales representative, and collected information about them.

After intense investigations, it turned out that Abdel-Baqi had planned the theft with jailbird Sameh Sayed, 19.

The company employee rented a car, removed its plates and agreed with the thief on the plot.

The thief sought the help of four others who have all been arrested and all the money was found at Sayed's home.

Expired medication found at Syrian trader's house

A Syrian merchant in Sixth of October City was arrested along with his son for repackaging expired medication and selling them to pharmacies.

The father and son confessed to their crime and were referred to councilor Hamada Sawi the first attorney of Southern Giza prosecution. They were detained for four days on charges of fraud.

The repackaged medication was confiscated and sent to the Ministry of Health labs.

Investigations identified the accused as Khaled Abul-Razek Mahmoud, 57, and his son as Abdul-Razek, 24.

The apartment of the convicts was raided and police confiscated medication for cancer, liver and high blood pressure as well as large quantities of ointments and 15,000 narcotic drugs.

The accused said he had come from Syria seven years ago to work as a trader but had to eventually resort to illegal activities three years ago.


Interior minister cracks down on unimplemented court rulings

Minister of Interior Habib Al-Adli ordered the enforcement of court rulings that were never put into effect, ranging from felonies to jail sentences as well as fines.

The court rulings included 174 felonies, 65,000 jail sentences and 16,738 fines. Over 100 people were also arrested with old offensive records in crimes ranging from robberies to murders.

The crackdown was planned by Major General Adli Fayed, first assistant minister for public security sector. Major General Ahmed Gamaleddin, director of Enforcement Department took part in the crackdown in coordination with Gharbiya security directors from Menufiya and Kafr El-Sheikh.


Six people tricked into "phony" business by married couple

A married couple from Ain Shams was accused of conning people into paying them LE 600, 000 as "investment into prepaid mobile cards."

Major General Ismail Al-Shaer received a report from Magdi Atef Ahmed saying that Rasha Mohammed and her husband Abdul-Hakim Amer tricked him and four others into paying LE 150,000 each as an investment in a phony business.

The couple had promised them profitable returns from their "investments" but when their cover was blown, they refused to give them their money back.

Victim stabbed by his own brother for refusing to lend him LE 500

Abdel Baset, 58, decided to take matters into his own hands when his brother, Mokhtar, 49, refused to lend him LE 500.

Abel Baset attacked his brother on the street and stabbed him several times in the chest and abdomen. The patrolling security personnel rushed to the scene and arrested the Abdel Baset and carried his brother to the hospital.

Abdel Baset confessed to his crime and said that he had been having financial problems and decided to turn to his brother for help but he turned him down. After several attempts to borrow LE 500, Mokhtar reported his brother to the police and asked that he not approach him, which is what led Abdel Baset to commit his crime.


Mu'azzin charged with practicing witchcraft

Security services in Cairo arrested a mu'azzin in Al-Salam city on charges of practicing charlatanry. The investigations revealed that the accused tricked people into believing he had the ability to bring back husbands who had left their homes as well as treat diseases through genies and talismans in return for money.

Sheikh Mahmoud 54 was popular among neighbors and residents of Al-Salam city and often received visitors from other governorates. Sources tipped off brigadier Ismail Taha, director of juvenile police in Cairo that about the Sheikh's practices.

The mu'azzin worked in a mosque affiliated with the Ministry of Religious Endowments and Islamic Affairs. Investigations revealed that he dedicated a small space in his house to practice charlatanry.
