These practices are extremely strong in North and South American. Many believe that these practices are long gone and have no place in the Americas. Atlanta, South Carolina, North Carolina, etc ... in USA, these practices are very much alive ... Yoruba, Ife, Ewe, Dohgon, ....and many more ...

Although 'mami wata' has negative connotations among Yoruba and Igbo peoples.
