Detterman, researchers at Case Western Reserve University, have shown that students' SAT test scores correlate as highly as, and sometimes higher than, IQ tests correlate with each other. This is strong evidence that the SAT is a de facto intelligence test. Their findings will be published in the June issue of Psychological Science, a journal of the American Psychological Society.


According to the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education:

• Whites from families with incomes of less than $10,000 had a mean SAT score of 993. This is 129 points higher than the national mean for all blacks.

• Whites from families with incomes below $10,000 had a mean SAT test score that was 61 points higher than blacks whose families had incomes of between $80,000 and $100,000.

• Blacks from families with incomes of more than $100,000 had a mean SAT score that was 85 points below the mean score for whites from all income levels, 139 points below the mean score of whites from families at the same income level, and 10 points below the average score of white students from families whose income was less than $10,000.

The failures of higher income students is primarily environmental- a factor of poor cultural attitudes and associated negative behaviors towards schooling. This is documented extensively in studies by John Obgu and fellow anthropologist Signithia Fordham, who found evidence of an oppositional culture among such students towards learning, a kind of pseudo solidarity with lower income "street" blacks that translated into lesser educational effort. Ogbu noted the disconnect between what was actual said about academics, versus what was actually DONE academically. There was plenty of lip service about the importance of academics but acutal performance as manifested by less abseenteeism rates, more amounts of studying done, etc didn't match up. Several of the students in Obgu's research admitted that they were not putting out their best effort. While Ogbu's data dealth with affluent students in Washington DC and New jersey, a nationwide longitudinal study conducted for the US govt NCES in the early 1990s also found evidence of oppositional attitudes among black students towards the academic enterprise (NCLS Longitudinal Survey 1994). This translates into negative behaviors that impacts the academic bottom line. Incidentially, white students with the same oppositional attitudes also did more poorly. What Obgu's and the NCLS's data suggests is how negative attitudes impact black students MORE SEVERELY than other groups. Poor attitudes towards academics translates into poorer results among all groups, but for black students the impact was more damaging.

It should be noted also that anti-intellectual or oppositional culture towards academics is hardly a US Black monopoly. The white Irish in the US for example has been marked by it. Indeed said white Irish are among the slowest rising of all the European immigrant groups despite such advantages as speaking English, and an extensive background in political organization prior to immigration. They have been surpassed by non English speaking white immigrants such as Jews, Italians and Poles. Southern Italians have also been marked by the same pattern (Sowell 1981, 2004). But of course whites are hardly "role models" in the area of academics. That distinction belongs not to whites but Asians.

Strangely enough, those who like to spout off about IQ too often neglect to mention that supposedly pace-setting whites are routinely outperformed by Asians. Indeed documentation shows "white flight" to get away from superior Asian competition. White performance in numerous places has been hardly impressive. Asians, particularly East Asians, routinely outperform whites on IQ tests both individually, and on nationwide rankings. (Lynn, 1996; McShane & Plas, 1984). Furthermore, white performance is nothing to write home about on various counts. Indeed the average 15 point iq score gap is something routinely occurring WITHIN various white US ethnics, who in various eras show the same average gap between their scores and the national average. Nobody talks much about that however. In short, "gaps" are nothing new in US history.

Indeed, the Asian advantage ranges from 5 to 15 points, depending on which groups are being tested (East Asians for example) and which tests are being used. That range is as big as the so-called black-white gap. (Thernstrom 2003). The Asian advantage is actually underreported due to lumping in foreign Asians who may not speak a non-Asiatic language well, and lumping in various other groups such as Pacific Islanders into the "Asian" category. When broken out separately, East Asians are running rings around whites. Indeed as Asians continue to advance, there seems to be a growing feeling of uneasiness among many whites, although it is not played up as much as people pointing the finger at the perennial scapegoat- blacks.

There are also another set of Asians who routiely outperform whites- people from the India. Mostof these are as dark as or even darker than US Blacks or Africans, undercutting once again self-congratulatory claims by white racist losers. This data is from the mainstream scholarship of the Princeton Survey on Ethnic groups. Note that the dark Indian IQ advantage surpasses that of the highest scoring "white" group (a special enemy of racists)-- Jews. Said Jews descend from Afro-Asiatic speakers, originating in Africa and the Near East, not supposedly superior 'aryan" or 'Nordic" locales.

The news article below seems to show that the Asian advantage is deepening over whites. Some might argue that the race-mongers sense this and thus continue their desperate search for some group they can rank favorably with. The only remaining hope of racist losers is to cling to the badge of a white skin, and to play the race bait game. It would be naive to imagine that many whites are pleased with the developments below, and that they are not quietly putting countermeasures in place, like the "informal" anti-Asian quotas. Just such "informal" quotas have been used in earlier times to limit black numbers in the NBA. Note the research of Jenny Tsai below:

At Magnet School, An Asian Plurality

Asian American students will outnumber white classmates for the first time in the freshman class at the region's most prestigious public magnet school this fall, a milestone reached as the number of African Americans and Hispanics has remained low and the Fairfax County School Board prepares to review the school's admission policy.

At Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in the Alexandria area this year, more than 2,500 applicants vied for 485 seats. Asian American students got 219, or 45 percent of the total, while white students got 205, or 42 percent. About 38 percent of the school's students were Asian American in the past school year.

T.J., as the school is known, draws students from several Northern Virginia jurisdictions. It ranks among the nation's top public schools in some surveys because of its rigorous curriculum and high-achieving students. Its average combined SAT score in 2007 was 2155, compared with 1639 countywide. More than 150 of its students that year were semifinalists for National Merit scholarships.

A plurality of Asian American students in a high school class would be an anomaly in the Washington region, where fewer than one in 10 residents is Asian American. In Fairfax, which supplies most of the school's students, people of Asian descent account for 16 percent of the population, census data show. That percentage has doubled since 1990 and is the highest in the area.

Among the incoming T.J. freshmen is Yuqing Zhang. Born in China, Yuqing immigrated with his family a decade ago, when his parents came to the United States for graduate school. He began learning math as a toddler from his grandmother and has excelled throughout school. As an eighth-grader at Longfellow Middle School in the Falls Church area, he took geometry and a class that combines high-level algebra and trigonometry. He placed 30th in a national math competition.


Yuqing, 14, said he has heard that T.J. is very competitive but added that he looks forward to focusing on his favorite subjects, math and science. The school is appealing, he said, because it "makes you do the best," and its students "model a good work ethic."

The rising concentration of Asian Americans at T.J. mirrors demographic trends in other elite math and science magnet schools. In New York, the selective and specialized Stuyvesant High School, Bronx High School of Science and Brooklyn Technical High School have Asian American majorities, although about 10 percent of the metropolitan population is of Asian descent. In San Francisco, Asian Americans make up more than 60 percent of the students at selective Lowell High School and about a third of the city's population.

The success of Asian American students reflects the educational commitment found in many immigrant communities, particularly for second-generation students fluent in English and encouraged by upwardly mobile parents who came to the United States for higher education or professional positions.

The demographic imbalance in top public magnet schools has become a sensitive issue, however...

Jenny Tsai, a recent Harvard University graduate, wrote her thesis about what she perceived as a growing sentiment that "too many Asians" were at top magnet schools. She attended the selective Hunter College High School in New York, where she sensed "a certain level of anxiety" as the portion of Asian American students in the entering class grew from less than a third to more than half between 1997 and 2003. Tsai said some students felt a need to justify their admission or their contributions.

"I don't think there was ever a question of who really belonged there until the numbers shifted," she said.

Admissions offices at top private colleges are becoming the front line for debates about equal access as the supply of high-caliber Asian American applicants swells and colleges try to maintain student diversity. Some Asian Americans contend that they face informal quotas and are forced to meet higher standards, similar to hurdles that Jewish Americans faced in the first part of the 20th century...

According to Tsai's research, which included interviews and surveys, the much touted magnet schools were set up for, and catered mostly to whites. It is only when Asians started beating whites out of admission slots that they became a "problem":

In Silicon Valley, two high schools with outstanding academic reputations are losing white students as Asian students move in. Why?

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- By most measures, Monta Vista High here and Lynbrook High, in nearby San Jose, are among the nation's top public high schools. Both boast stellar test scores, an array of advanced-placement classes and a track record of sending graduates from the affluent suburbs of Silicon Valley to prestigious colleges.

But locally, they're also known for something else: white flight. Over the past 10 years, the proportion of white students at Lynbrook has fallen by nearly half, to 25% of the student body. At Monta Vista, white students make up less than one-third of the population, down from 45% -- this in a town that's half white. Some white Cupertino parents are instead sending their children to private schools or moving them to other, whiter public schools. More commonly, young white families in Silicon Valley say they are avoiding Cupertino altogether.

Whites aren't quitting the schools because the schools are failing academically. Quite the contrary: Many white parents say they're leaving because the schools are too academically driven and too narrowly invested in subjects such as math and science at the expense of liberal arts and extracurriculars like sports and other personal interests.

The two schools, put another way that parents rarely articulate so bluntly, are too Asian.

Cathy Gatley, co-president of Monta Vista High School's parent-teacher association, recently dissuaded a family with a young child from moving to Cupertino because there are so few young white kids left in the public schools. "This may not sound good," she confides, "but their child may be the only Caucasian kid in the class." All of Ms. Gatley's four children have attended or are currently attending Monta Vista. One son, Andrew, 17 years old, took the high-school exit exam last summer and left the school to avoid the academic pressure. He is currently working in a pet-supply store. Ms. Gatley, who is white, says she probably wouldn't have moved to Cupertino if she had anticipated how much it would change.

In the 1960s, the term "white flight" emerged to describe the rapid exodus of whites from big cities into the suburbs, a process that often resulted in the economic degradation of the remaining community. Back then, the phenomenon was mostly believed to be sparked by the growth in the population of African-Americans, and to a lesser degree Hispanics, in some major cities.

But this modern incarnation is different. Across the country, Asian-Americans have by and large been successful and accepted into middle- and upper-class communities. Silicon Valley has kept Cupertino's economy stable, and the town is almost indistinguishable from many of the suburbs around it. The shrinking number of white students hasn't hurt the academic standards of Cupertino's schools -- in fact the opposite is true.

This time the effect is more subtle: Some Asians believe that the resulting lack of diversity creates an atmosphere that is too sheltering for their children, leaving then unprepared for life in a country that is only 4% Asian overall. Moreover, many Asians share some of their white counterpart's concerns. Both groups finger newer Asian immigrants for the schools' intense competitiveness.

Some whites fear that by avoiding schools with large Asian populations parents are short-changing their own children, giving them the idea that they can't compete with Asian kids. "My parents never let me think that because I'm Caucasian, I'm not going to succeed," says Jessie Hogin, a white Monta Vista graduate.

The white exodus clearly involves race-based presumptions, not all of which are positive. One example: Asian parents are too competitive. That sounds like racism to many of Cupertino's Asian residents, who resent the fact that their growing numbers and success are causing many white families to boycott the town altogether.

"It's a stereotype of Asian parents," says Pei-Pei Yow, a Hewlett-Packard Co. manager and Chinese-American community leader who sent two kids to Monta Vista. It's like other familiar biases, she says: "You can't say everybody from the South is a redneck."

Jane Doherty, a retirement-community administrator, chose to send her two boys elsewhere. When her family moved to Cupertino from Indiana over a decade ago, Ms. Doherty says her top priority was moving into a good public-school district. She paid no heed to a real-estate agent who told her of the town's burgeoning Asian population.

She says she began to reconsider after her elder son, Matthew, entered Kennedy, the middle school that feeds Monta Vista. As he played soccer, Ms. Doherty watched a line of cars across the street deposit Asian kids for after-school study. She also attended a Monta Vista parents' night and came away worrying about the school's focus on test scores and the big-name colleges its graduates attend.

"My sense is that at Monta Vista you're competing against the child beside you," she says. Ms. Doherty says she believes the issue stems more from recent immigrants than Asians as a whole. "Obviously, the concentration of Asian students is really high, and it does flavor the school," she says.

When Matthew, now a student at Notre Dame, finished middle school eight years ago, Ms. Doherty decided to send him to Bellarmine College Preparatory, a Jesuit school that she says has a culture that "values the whole child." It's also 55% white and 24% Asian. Her younger son, Kevin, followed suit.

Kevin Doherty, 17, says he's happy his mother made the switch. Many of his old friends at Kennedy aren't happy at Monta Vista, he says. "Kids at Bellarmine have a lot of pressure to do well, too, but they want to learn and do something they want to do."

While California has seen the most pronounced cases of suburban segregation, some of the developments in Cupertino are also starting to surface in other parts of the U.S. At Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Md., known flippantly to some locals as "Won Ton," roughly 35% of students are of Asian descent. People who don't know the school tend to make assumptions about its academics, says Principal Michael Doran. "Certain stereotypes come to mind -- 'those people are good at math,' " he says.

In Tenafly, N.J., a well-to-do bedroom community near New York, the local high school says it expects Asian students to make up about 36% of its total in the next five years, compared with 27% today. The district still attracts families of all backgrounds, but Asians are particularly intent that their kids work hard and excel, says Anat Eisenberg, a local Coldwell Banker real-estate agent. "Everybody is caught into this process of driving their kids." Lawrence Mayer, Tenafly High's vice principal, says he's never heard such concerns.

Perched on the western end of the Santa Clara valley, Cupertino was for many years a primarily rural area known for its many fruit orchards. The beginnings of the tech industry brought suburbanization, and Cupertino then became a very white, quintessentially middle-class town of mostly modest ranch homes, populated by engineers and their families. Apple Computer Inc. planted its headquarters there.

As the high-tech industry prospered, so did Cupertino. Today, the orchards are a memory, replaced by numerous shopping malls and subdivisions that are home to Silicon Valley's prosperous upper-middle class. While the architecture in Cupertino is largely the same as in neighboring communities, the town of about 50,000 people now boasts Indian restaurants, tutoring centers and Asian grocers. Parents say Cupertino's top schools have become more academically intense over the past 10 years.
Asian immigrants have surged into the town, granting it a reputation -- particularly among recent Chinese and South Asian immigrants -- as a Bay Area locale of choice. Cupertino is now 41% Asian, up from 24% in 1998.

Some students struggle in Cupertino's high schools who might not elsewhere. Monta Vista's Academic Performance Index, which compares the academic performance of California's schools, reached an all-time high of 924 out of 1,000 this year, making it one of the highest-scoring high schools in Northern California. Grades are so high that a 'B' average puts a student in the bottom third of a class.

"We have great students, which has a lot of upsides," says April Scott, Monta Vista's principal. "The downside is what the kids with a 3.0 GPA think of themselves."

Ms. Scott and her counterpart at Lynbrook know what's said about their schools being too competitive and dominated by Asians. "It's easy to buy into those kinds of comments because they're loaded and powerful," says Ms. Scott, who adds that they paint an inaccurate picture of Monta Vista. Ms. Scott says many athletic programs are thriving and points to the school's many extracurricular activities. She also points out that white students represented 20% of the school's 29 National Merit Semifinalists this year.

Judy Hogin, Jessie's mother and a Cupertino real-estate agent, believes the school was good for her daughter, who is now a freshman at the University of California at San Diego. "I know it's frustrating to some people who have moved away," says Ms. Hogin, who is white. Jessie, she says, "rose to the challenge."

On a recent autumn day at Lynbrook, crowds of students spilled out of classrooms for midmorning break. Against a sea of Asian faces, the few white students were easy to pick out. One boy sat on a wall, his lighter hair and skin making him stand out from dozens of others around him. In another corner, four white male students lounged at a picnic table.

At Cupertino's top schools, administrators, parents and students say white students end up in the stereotyped role often applied to other minority groups: the underachievers. In one 9th-grade algebra class, Lynbrook's lowest-level math class, the students are an eclectic mix of whites, Asians and other racial and ethnic groups.

"Take a good look," whispered Steve Rowley, superintendent of the Fremont Union High School District, which covers the city of Cupertino as well as portions of other neighboring cities. "This doesn't look like the other classes we're going to."
On the second floor, in advanced-placement chemistry, only a couple of the 32 students are white and the rest are Asian. Some white parents, and even some students, say they suspect teachers don't take white kids as seriously as Asians.
"Many of my Asian friends were convinced that if you were Asian, you had to confirm you were smart. If you were white, you had to prove it," says Arar Han, a Monta Vista graduate who recently co-edited "Asian American X," a book of coming-of-age essays by young Asian-Americans.

Ms. Gatley, the Monta Vista PTA president, is more blunt: "White kids are thought of as the dumb kids," she says.
Cupertino's administrators and faculty, the majority of whom are white, adamantly say there's no discrimination against whites. The administrators say students of all races get along well. In fact, there's little evidence of any overt racial tension between students or between their parents.

Mr. Rowley, the school superintendent, however, concedes that a perception exists that's sometimes called "the white-boy syndrome." He describes it as: "Kids who are white feel themselves a distinct minority against a majority culture."
Mr. Rowley, who is white, enrolled his only son, Eddie, at Lynbrook. When Eddie started freshman geometry, the boy was frustrated to learn that many of the Asian students in his class had already taken the course in summer school, Mr. Rowley recalls. That gave them a big leg up.

To many of Cupertino's Asians, some of the assumptions made by white parents -- that Asians are excessively competitive and single-minded -- play into stereotypes. Top schools in nearby, whiter Palo Alto, which also have very high test scores, also feature heavy course loads, long hours of homework and overly stressed students, says Denise Pope, director of Stressed Out Students, a Stanford University program that has worked with schools in both Palo Alto and Cupertino. But whites don't seem to be avoiding those institutions, or making the same negative generalizations, Asian families note, suggesting that it's not academic competition that makes white parents uncomfortable but academic competition with Asian-Americans.

Some of Cupertino's Asian residents say they don't blame white families for leaving. After all, many of the town's Asians are fretting about the same issues. While acknowledging that the term Asian embraces a wide diversity of countries, cultures and languages, they say there's some truth to the criticisms levied against new immigrant parents, particularly those from countries such as China and India, who often put a lot of academic pressure on their children.

Some parents and students say these various forces are creating an unhealthy cultural isolation in the schools. Monta Vista graduate Mark Seto says he wouldn't send his kids to his alma mater. "It was a sheltered little world that didn't bear a whole lot of resemblance to what the rest of the country is like," says Mr. Seto, a Chinese-American who recently graduated from Yale University. As a result, he says, "college wasn't an academic adjustment. It was a cultural adjustment."
Hung Wei, a Chinese-American living in Cupertino, has become an active campaigner in the community, encouraging Asian parents to be more aware of their children's emotional development. Ms. Wei, who is co-president of Monta Vista's PTA with Ms. Gatley, says her activism stems from the suicide of her daughter, Diana. Ms. Wei says life in Cupertino and at Monta Vista didn't prepare the young woman for life at New York University. Diana moved there in 2004 and jumped to her death from a Manhattan building two months later.

"We emphasize academics so much and protect our kids, I feel there's something lacking in our education," Ms. Wei says.
Cupertino schools are trying to address some of these issues. Monta Vista recently completed a series of seminars focused on such issues as helping parents communicate better with their kids, and Lynbrook last year revised its homework guidelines with the goal of eliminating excessive and unproductive assignments.

The moves haven't stemmed the flow of whites out of the schools. Four years ago, Lynn Rosener, a software consultant, transferred her elder son from Monta Vista to Homestead High, a Cupertino school with slightly lower test scores. At the new school, the white student body is declining at a slower rate than at Monta Vista and currently stands at 52% of the total. Friday-night football is a tradition, with big half-time shows and usually 1,000 people packing the stands. The school offers boys' volleyball, a sport at which Ms. Rosener's son was particularly talented. Monta Vista doesn't.

"It does help to have a lower Asian population," says Homestead PTA President Mary Anne Norling. "I don't think our parents are as uptight as if my kids went to Monta Vista."

Racists are also undermined by their own references when they talk about brain size and intelligence. The leader is not supposedly pace-setting whites but Asians again on this score.

Let's for a moment take the race-mongers brain sizes, and take one of race-mongers's favorite author's Rushton. What happened when Rushton correlated brain size with race and intelligence? Their own science guy, put so-called Mongoloids or Asians were on top of the rankings, not allegedly pace-setting "Caucasoids".

Seems like those who want to point the finger at blacks need to work on their own game before trotting out claims of "superiority" on the IQ front.

I may post primary data in a bit, but this book has plenty of sources. Point being, home ownership is a superior indicator than just raw revenue. It provides great advantages, such as economic stability, and since white kids are more likely to be born in owned homes, it results to higher intellectual fitness amongst the population.

In other words, Blacks are more likely to land in debt due to racist economic and legal policies, less likely to own a home (even vs. much lower income white counterparts), and high income blacks are MORE likely to receive dangerous subprime credit than poor whites. This reality is going to produce huge advantages. That is unless you're superman or something.

Having said all, those sane will understand that, it's clear that higher income blacks are under a more parasitic debt situation and are heavily disadvantaged against whites of a similar class. This produces an extreme disparity between the high income pool, meaning that, blacks, despite being more wealthier than the white counterpart, since whites compete with much more marginalized black counterparts as the privileged actor. Add the fact that, the equity disparity even between lower class whites and upper class blacks.

I could add the racist school systems as well, but Zarahan has done a fine job in that area. Next time, start learning how to interpret data in a more intelligent manner. This is pathetic considering that I am not specializing in the social sciences (usually worthless in most institutions) at the tertiary level.

Regardless, here's another case where we have demonstrated that we're better men. You have chosen to religiously stick to a conclusion without examining the data. Indicators were not defined, nor did you determine if raw income is directly related to financial stability. Credit accessibility, job security and shelter are indicators that flesh out socio-economic episode unlike generic dollars. In addition, you have failed to direct us to a genetic data suggesting intelligence-specific markets that follow a racial line.

Strangely enough, those who like to spout off about IQ too often neglect to mention that supposedly pace-setting whites are routinely outperformed by Asians. Indeed documentation shows "white flight" to get away from superior Asian competition. White performance in numerous places has been hardly impressive. Asians, particularly East Asians, routinely outperform whites on IQ tests both individually, and on nationwide rankings. (Lynn, 1996; McShane & Plas, 1984). Furthermore, white performance is nothing to write home about on various counts. Indeed the average 15 point iq score gap is something routinely occurring WITHIN various white US ethnics, who in various eras show the same average gap between their scores and the national average. Nobody talks much about that however. In short, "gaps" are nothing new in US history.

Indeed, the Asian advantage ranges from 5 to 15 points, depending on which groups are being tested (East Asians for example) and which tests are being used. That range is as big as the so-called black-white gap. (Thernstrom 2003). The Asian advantage is actually underreported due to lumping in foreign Asians who may not speak a non-Asiatic language well, and lumping in various other groups such as Pacific Islanders into the "Asian" category. When broken out separately, East Asians are running rings around whites. Indeed as Asians continue to advance, there seems to be a growing feeling of uneasiness among many whites, although it is not played up as much as people pointing the finger at the perennial scapegoat- blacks.

There are also another set of Asians who routiely outperform whites- people from the India. Mostof these are as dark as or even darker than US Blacks or Africans, undercutting once again self-congratulatory claims by white racist losers. This data is from the mainstream scholarship of the Princeton Survey on Ethnic groups. Note that the dark Indian IQ advantage surpasses that of the highest scoring "white" group (a special enemy of racists)-- Jews. Said Jews descend from Afro-Asiatic speakers, originating in Africa and the Near East, not supposedly superior 'aryan" or 'Nordic" locales.

The news article below seems to show that the Asian advantage is deepening over whites. Some might argue that the race-mongers sense this and thus continue their desperate search for some group they can rank favorably with. The only remaining hope of racist losers is to cling to the badge of a white skin, and to play the race bait game. It would be naive to imagine that many whites are pleased with the developments below, and that they are not quietly putting countermeasures in place, like the "informal" anti-Asian quotas. At Magnet School, An Asian Plurality

Asian American students will outnumber white classmates for the first time in the freshman class at the region's most prestigious public magnet school this fall, a milestone reached as the number of African Americans and Hispanics has remained low and the Fairfax County School Board prepares to review the school's admission policy.

At Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in the Alexandria area this year, more than 2,500 applicants vied for 485 seats. Asian American students got 219, or 45 percent of the total, while white students got 205, or 42 percent. About 38 percent of the school's students were Asian American in the past school year.

T.J., as the school is known, draws students from several Northern Virginia jurisdictions. It ranks among the nation's top public schools in some surveys because of its rigorous curriculum and high-achieving students. Its average combined SAT score in 2007 was 2155, compared with 1639 countywide. More than 150 of its students that year were semifinalists for National Merit scholarships.

A plurality of Asian American students in a high school class would be an anomaly in the Washington region, where fewer than one in 10 residents is Asian American. In Fairfax, which supplies most of the school's students, people of Asian descent account for 16 percent of the population, census data show. That percentage has doubled since 1990 and is the highest in the area.

Among the incoming T.J. freshmen is Yuqing Zhang. Born in China, Yuqing immigrated with his family a decade ago, when his parents came to the United States for graduate school. He began learning math as a toddler from his grandmother and has excelled throughout school. As an eighth-grader at Longfellow Middle School in the Falls Church area, he took geometry and a class that combines high-level algebra and trigonometry. He placed 30th in a national math competition.


Yuqing, 14, said he has heard that T.J. is very competitive but added that he looks forward to focusing on his favorite subjects, math and science. The school is appealing, he said, because it "makes you do the best," and its students "model a good work ethic."

The rising concentration of Asian Americans at T.J. mirrors demographic trends in other elite math and science magnet schools. In New York, the selective and specialized Stuyvesant High School, Bronx High School of Science and Brooklyn Technical High School have Asian American majorities, although about 10 percent of the metropolitan population is of Asian descent. In San Francisco, Asian Americans make up more than 60 percent of the students at selective Lowell High School and about a third of the city's population.

The success of Asian American students reflects the educational commitment found in many immigrant communities, particularly for second-generation students fluent in English and encouraged by upwardly mobile parents who came to the United States for higher education or professional positions.

The demographic imbalance in top public magnet schools has become a sensitive issue, however...

Jenny Tsai, a recent Harvard University graduate, wrote her thesis about what she perceived as a growing sentiment that "too many Asians" were at top magnet schools. She attended the selective Hunter College High School in New York, where she sensed "a certain level of anxiety" as the portion of Asian American students in the entering class grew from less than a third to more than half between 1997 and 2003. Tsai said some students felt a need to justify their admission or their contributions.

"I don't think there was ever a question of who really belonged there until the numbers shifted," she said.

Admissions offices at top private colleges are becoming the front line for debates about equal access as the supply of high-caliber Asian American applicants swells and colleges try to maintain student diversity. Some Asian Americans contend that they face informal quotas and are forced to meet higher standards, similar to hurdles that Jewish Americans faced in the first part of the 20th century...

In Silicon Valley, two high schools with outstanding academic reputations are losing white students as Asian students move in. Why?

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- By most measures, Monta Vista High here and Lynbrook High, in nearby San Jose, are among the nation's top public high schools. Both boast stellar test scores, an array of advanced-placement classes and a track record of sending graduates from the affluent suburbs of Silicon Valley to prestigious colleges.

But locally, they're also known for something else: white flight. Over the past 10 years, the proportion of white students at Lynbrook has fallen by nearly half, to 25% of the student body. At Monta Vista, white students make up less than one-third of the population, down from 45% -- this in a town that's half white. Some white Cupertino parents are instead sending their children to private schools or moving them to other, whiter public schools. More commonly, young white families in Silicon Valley say they are avoiding Cupertino altogether.

Whites aren't quitting the schools because the schools are failing academically. Quite the contrary: Many white parents say they're leaving because the schools are too academically driven and too narrowly invested in subjects such as math and science at the expense of liberal arts and extracurriculars like sports and other personal interests.

The two schools, put another way that parents rarely articulate so bluntly, are too Asian.

Cathy Gatley, co-president of Monta Vista High School's parent-teacher association, recently dissuaded a family with a young child from moving to Cupertino because there are so few young white kids left in the public schools. "This may not sound good," she confides, "but their child may be the only Caucasian kid in the class." All of Ms. Gatley's four children have attended or are currently attending Monta Vista. One son, Andrew, 17 years old, took the high-school exit exam last summer and left the school to avoid the academic pressure. He is currently working in a pet-supply store. Ms. Gatley, who is white, says she probably wouldn't have moved to Cupertino if she had anticipated how much it would change.

In the 1960s, the term "white flight" emerged to describe the rapid exodus of whites from big cities into the suburbs, a process that often resulted in the economic degradation of the remaining community. Back then, the phenomenon was mostly believed to be sparked by the growth in the population of African-Americans, and to a lesser degree Hispanics, in some major cities.

But this modern incarnation is different. Across the country, Asian-Americans have by and large been successful and accepted into middle- and upper-class communities. Silicon Valley has kept Cupertino's economy stable, and the town is almost indistinguishable from many of the suburbs around it. The shrinking number of white students hasn't hurt the academic standards of Cupertino's schools -- in fact the opposite is true.

This time the effect is more subtle: Some Asians believe that the resulting lack of diversity creates an atmosphere that is too sheltering for their children, leaving then unprepared for life in a country that is only 4% Asian overall. Moreover, many Asians share some of their white counterpart's concerns. Both groups finger newer Asian immigrants for the schools' intense competitiveness.

Some whites fear that by avoiding schools with large Asian populations parents are short-changing their own children, giving them the idea that they can't compete with Asian kids. "My parents never let me think that because I'm Caucasian, I'm not going to succeed," says Jessie Hogin, a white Monta Vista graduate.

The white exodus clearly involves race-based presumptions, not all of which are positive. One example: Asian parents are too competitive. That sounds like racism to many of Cupertino's Asian residents, who resent the fact that their growing numbers and success are causing many white families to boycott the town altogether.

"It's a stereotype of Asian parents," says Pei-Pei Yow, a Hewlett-Packard Co. manager and Chinese-American community leader who sent two kids to Monta Vista. It's like other familiar biases, she says: "You can't say everybody from the South is a redneck."

Jane Doherty, a retirement-community administrator, chose to send her two boys elsewhere. When her family moved to Cupertino from Indiana over a decade ago, Ms. Doherty says her top priority was moving into a good public-school district. She paid no heed to a real-estate agent who told her of the town's burgeoning Asian population.

She says she began to reconsider after her elder son, Matthew, entered Kennedy, the middle school that feeds Monta Vista. As he played soccer, Ms. Doherty watched a line of cars across the street deposit Asian kids for after-school study. She also attended a Monta Vista parents' night and came away worrying about the school's focus on test scores and the big-name colleges its graduates attend.

"My sense is that at Monta Vista you're competing against the child beside you," she says. Ms. Doherty says she believes the issue stems more from recent immigrants than Asians as a whole. "Obviously, the concentration of Asian students is really high, and it does flavor the school," she says.

When Matthew, now a student at Notre Dame, finished middle school eight years ago, Ms. Doherty decided to send him to Bellarmine College Preparatory, a Jesuit school that she says has a culture that "values the whole child." It's also 55% white and 24% Asian. Her younger son, Kevin, followed suit.

Kevin Doherty, 17, says he's happy his mother made the switch. Many of his old friends at Kennedy aren't happy at Monta Vista, he says. "Kids at Bellarmine have a lot of pressure to do well, too, but they want to learn and do something they want to do."

While California has seen the most pronounced cases of suburban segregation, some of the developments in Cupertino are also starting to surface in other parts of the U.S. At Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Md., known flippantly to some locals as "Won Ton," roughly 35% of students are of Asian descent. People who don't know the school tend to make assumptions about its academics, says Principal Michael Doran. "Certain stereotypes come to mind -- 'those people are good at math,' " he says.

In Tenafly, N.J., a well-to-do bedroom community near New York, the local high school says it expects Asian students to make up about 36% of its total in the next five years, compared with 27% today. The district still attracts families of all backgrounds, but Asians are particularly intent that their kids work hard and excel, says Anat Eisenberg, a local Coldwell Banker real-estate agent. "Everybody is caught into this process of driving their kids." Lawrence Mayer, Tenafly High's vice principal, says he's never heard such concerns.

Perched on the western end of the Santa Clara valley, Cupertino was for many years a primarily rural area known for its many fruit orchards. The beginnings of the tech industry brought suburbanization, and Cupertino then became a very white, quintessentially middle-class town of mostly modest ranch homes, populated by engineers and their families. Apple Computer Inc. planted its headquarters there.

As the high-tech industry prospered, so did Cupertino. Today, the orchards are a memory, replaced by numerous shopping malls and subdivisions that are home to Silicon Valley's prosperous upper-middle class. While the architecture in Cupertino is largely the same as in neighboring communities, the town of about 50,000 people now boasts Indian restaurants, tutoring centers and Asian grocers. Parents say Cupertino's top schools have become more academically intense over the past 10 years.
Asian immigrants have surged into the town, granting it a reputation -- particularly among recent Chinese and South Asian immigrants -- as a Bay Area locale of choice. Cupertino is now 41% Asian, up from 24% in 1998.

Some students struggle in Cupertino's high schools who might not elsewhere. Monta Vista's Academic Performance Index, which compares the academic performance of California's schools, reached an all-time high of 924 out of 1,000 this year, making it one of the highest-scoring high schools in Northern California. Grades are so high that a 'B' average puts a student in the bottom third of a class.

"We have great students, which has a lot of upsides," says April Scott, Monta Vista's principal. "The downside is what the kids with a 3.0 GPA think of themselves."

Ms. Scott and her counterpart at Lynbrook know what's said about their schools being too competitive and dominated by Asians. "It's easy to buy into those kinds of comments because they're loaded and powerful," says Ms. Scott, who adds that they paint an inaccurate picture of Monta Vista. Ms. Scott says many athletic programs are thriving and points to the school's many extracurricular activities. She also points out that white students represented 20% of the school's 29 National Merit Semifinalists this year.

Judy Hogin, Jessie's mother and a Cupertino real-estate agent, believes the school was good for her daughter, who is now a freshman at the University of California at San Diego. "I know it's frustrating to some people who have moved away," says Ms. Hogin, who is white. Jessie, she says, "rose to the challenge."

On a recent autumn day at Lynbrook, crowds of students spilled out of classrooms for midmorning break. Against a sea of Asian faces, the few white students were easy to pick out. One boy sat on a wall, his lighter hair and skin making him stand out from dozens of others around him. In another corner, four white male students lounged at a picnic table.

At Cupertino's top schools, administrators, parents and students say white students end up in the stereotyped role often applied to other minority groups: the underachievers. In one 9th-grade algebra class, Lynbrook's lowest-level math class, the students are an eclectic mix of whites, Asians and other racial and ethnic groups.

"Take a good look," whispered Steve Rowley, superintendent of the Fremont Union High School District, which covers the city of Cupertino as well as portions of other neighboring cities. "This doesn't look like the other classes we're going to."
On the second floor, in advanced-placement chemistry, only a couple of the 32 students are white and the rest are Asian. Some white parents, and even some students, say they suspect teachers don't take white kids as seriously as Asians.
"Many of my Asian friends were convinced that if you were Asian, you had to confirm you were smart. If you were white, you had to prove it," says Arar Han, a Monta Vista graduate who recently co-edited "Asian American X," a book of coming-of-age essays by young Asian-Americans.

Ms. Gatley, the Monta Vista PTA president, is more blunt: "White kids are thought of as the dumb kids," she says.
Cupertino's administrators and faculty, the majority of whom are white, adamantly say there's no discrimination against whites. The administrators say students of all races get along well. In fact, there's little evidence of any overt racial tension between students or between their parents.

Mr. Rowley, the school superintendent, however, concedes that a perception exists that's sometimes called "the white-boy syndrome." He describes it as: "Kids who are white feel themselves a distinct minority against a majority culture."
Mr. Rowley, who is white, enrolled his only son, Eddie, at Lynbrook. When Eddie started freshman geometry, the boy was frustrated to learn that many of the Asian students in his class had already taken the course in summer school, Mr. Rowley recalls. That gave them a big leg up.

To many of Cupertino's Asians, some of the assumptions made by white parents -- that Asians are excessively competitive and single-minded -- play into stereotypes. Top schools in nearby, whiter Palo Alto, which also have very high test scores, also feature heavy course loads, long hours of homework and overly stressed students, says Denise Pope, director of Stressed Out Students, a Stanford University program that has worked with schools in both Palo Alto and Cupertino. But whites don't seem to be avoiding those institutions, or making the same negative generalizations, Asian families note, suggesting that it's not academic competition that makes white parents uncomfortable but academic competition with Asian-Americans.

Some of Cupertino's Asian residents say they don't blame white families for leaving. After all, many of the town's Asians are fretting about the same issues. While acknowledging that the term Asian embraces a wide diversity of countries, cultures and languages, they say there's some truth to the criticisms levied against new immigrant parents, particularly those from countries such as China and India, who often put a lot of academic pressure on their children.

Some parents and students say these various forces are creating an unhealthy cultural isolation in the schools. Monta Vista graduate Mark Seto says he wouldn't send his kids to his alma mater. "It was a sheltered little world that didn't bear a whole lot of resemblance to what the rest of the country is like," says Mr. Seto, a Chinese-American who recently graduated from Yale University. As a result, he says, "college wasn't an academic adjustment. It was a cultural adjustment."
Hung Wei, a Chinese-American living in Cupertino, has become an active campaigner in the community, encouraging Asian parents to be more aware of their children's emotional development. Ms. Wei, who is co-president of Monta Vista's PTA with Ms. Gatley, says her activism stems from the suicide of her daughter, Diana. Ms. Wei says life in Cupertino and at Monta Vista didn't prepare the young woman for life at New York University. Diana moved there in 2004 and jumped to her death from a Manhattan building two months later.

"We emphasize academics so much and protect our kids, I feel there's something lacking in our education," Ms. Wei says.
Cupertino schools are trying to address some of these issues. Monta Vista recently completed a series of seminars focused on such issues as helping parents communicate better with their kids, and Lynbrook last year revised its homework guidelines with the goal of eliminating excessive and unproductive assignments.

The moves haven't stemmed the flow of whites out of the schools. Four years ago, Lynn Rosener, a software consultant, transferred her elder son from Monta Vista to Homestead High, a Cupertino school with slightly lower test scores. At the new school, the white student body is declining at a slower rate than at Monta Vista and currently stands at 52% of the total. Friday-night football is a tradition, with big half-time shows and usually 1,000 people packing the stands. The school offers boys' volleyball, a sport at which Ms. Rosener's son was particularly talented. Monta Vista doesn't.

"It does help to have a lower Asian population," says Homestead PTA President Mary Anne Norling. "I don't think our parents are as uptight as if my kids went to Monta Vista."

Racists are also undermined by their own references when they talk about brain size and intelligence. The leader is not supposedly pace-setting whites but Asians again on this score.

Let's for a moment take the race-mongers brain sizes, and take one of race-mongers's favorite author's Rushton. What happened when Rushton correlated brain size with race and intelligence? Their own science guy, put so-called Mongoloids or Asians were on top of the rankings, not allegedly pace-setting "Caucasoids".

Seems like those who want to point the finger at blacks need to work on their own game before trotting out claims of "superiority" on the IQ front.

You can test whether the theories are supported by comparing correlations between background variables and outcome measures. If nonWhite, specifically Black "X-Factors" have an effect on their intelligence [test] levels than some of the correlations should be offset.

Another study by Rowe showed computed correlations between academic achievement and family-environment measures in 100s of sibling pairs - White, Black, and Hispanic - all aged over 6 and a half to 9. Three 8x8 correlations matrices were equal accross the three groups and no evidence of "X-Factors" having an effect on achievement in this study exist.(Rowe et al 1995 "Ethnic and racial similarity in developmental process: A study of academic achievement")

The silly claim that "X-Factors" such as stereotype threat are the explanation for the Black-White gap is an insult to human intelligence.


As for your long-winding post on how America is bent on oppressing Blacks, I would like you to see my allusion to the Minnesota transracial adoption study which I feel is very important and has none of these factors affecting the samples.

Nisbett ignores that genetic influences on intelligence become more important as time goes on - which is why the follow up study of the children at age 17 is important. At 17 the Whites had an average IQ of 106, Mulattoes 99, and Blacks 89 (Above the national mean but not the Minnesota mean). The same pattern was shown in all tests of achievement studied by Scarr and Weinberg. There was no actual change in IQ for the Blacks adopted in White families as opposed to those who were not - this itself is quite meaningful.

As for other studies showing IQ being different among races we can use admixture studies.

Shriver, although using methods that do not detect small amounts of admixture well, found a slight correlation between skin color and admixture.
They found a correlation of .211 between African American skin color and African ancestry.
- Sriver et al 2003 "Skin pigmentation, biogeographical ancestry and admixture mapping"

An earlier, less advanced study by Shuey showed a correlation between .10 and .15 (Shuey 1996 "The testing of Negro intelligence - 2nd edition"

Skin color only slightly correlates with admixture but using large sample sizes it becomes more predictive.

Rowe reviewed Shuey's (see above) study showing lighter-skinned Negroes average higher IQ's than dark-skinned Negroes. (Rowe 2005 "Under the skin: On the impartial treatment of genetic and environmental hypotheses of racial differences")
Lynn examined an NORC survey of 442 Blacks who identified their skin color and found a correlation between that and a vocab test was .17 (Lynn 2002 "Skin color and intelligence in African Americans.")
Rowe studied the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health and found that Blacks had lower IQs, Whites had higher, and Mulattoes score intermediate. (Rowe 2002 "IQ, birth weight, and number of sexual partners in White, African American, and mixed race adolescents")
There is no evidence that ligher skinned Blacks have some social advantage that boosts their IQ's 1/2 a SD. The majority consider themselves Black, identify as Black, are socially beleived to be Black, and are culturally similar to other Blacks.
The only difference is the amount of White admixture.

Bean and Pearl found that lighter skinned Blacks had larger brains.

There is a .4 correlation between brain size and IQ.


A study of Blacks in Georgia yielded a lower IQ than the national average for Blacks (71). The White IQ fo rthe county was 101. The interesting thing is that this Black population is less mixed than the average Black American. There's no evidence for any some "Racist" conspiracy against the Blacks of that county at all. Whites score the average for their racial group and Blacks score lower - The Whites have the same average White admixture and the Blacks have considerably less.

This paper does not produce an actual conclusion, moron. It proposes a methodology on effectively determining the role of the environment and genetics in both the IQ disparity. This study produces no actual result and I look forward to see that study.

Harvard released a paper on the socio-economic disparity within blacks and noted:

I will post the entire study when I feel less lazy. It should be noted that there was a rather large history where free blacks and mulattoes (both, usually light skinned) attempted to enter the white population. That was one of the populations who competed with Irish immigrants, and the result was the European counterpart was able to successfully sell their soul to whiteness. I'll even provide an excerpt on that specific episode:

In such a system, this color-based hierarchy is expected and obviously exists. I've seen it numerous nations. Saying that, I've read the Lynn's data, but meh, here's a review:

Foolish child, do you how foolish is to bank on data that is just fed through an XY scatter graph? By placing skin color on one axis and IQ on the other will show such disparity. That is because complexion is a CURRENCY in our society. One could go to Chile, Egypt, India or elsewhere, and see the SAME system at hand.

On top of his rather elementary methods, errors are riddled in Lynn's work. First, he ignores environmental factors, which foolish since genes and its expression are heavily sensitive to external conditions. One could just observe the development of oncogenes and see the environment at work.

This is what happens when people don't view DNA, its nucleotide, hell, stereochemistry, are part of an environmental complex. How do you think the relationship the spatial arrangements of atoms within molecules occur? Inter-atomic relationships, a non-superposable (chiral) vs its mirror image, are all part of a fucking environmental complex.

In the macroscopic levels, environment is singlehandedly the most dominant fact in organic development. The development of animal sensory receptors, with the most "complex" multi-organisms being part of a light receptor-bound development, is stunningly environmental. One you go to advanced "peripheral" traits such as threat perception, never mind "intelligence", the environmental factors are so overwhelming that it becomes The factor.

I point this out, because Lynn ignores childhood development factors and assumes it's the same between dark or light skinned children. That, my foolish friend, is a myth. There is significant data suggesting a color-based disparity within our societies. In fact, the study becomes flawed when family-background and educational attainment is ignored.

The dystrobrevin-binding protein 1 (DTNBP1) gene is a susceptibility gene for schizophrenia. There is growing evidence that DTNPB1 contributes to intelligence and cognition. In this study, we investigated association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the DTNBP1 gene and intellectual functioning in patients with a first episode of schizophrenia or related psychotic disorder (first-episode psychosis, FEP), their healthy siblings, and unrelated controls.
The rs:760761, rs:2619522 and rs:2619538 alleles are associated with increased or decreased intelligence on DTNBP1
rs:760761, the T allele is associated with an IQ drop of 8 points.
According to Hapmap, 18% of Whites have this allele, 7% of East Asians, and 37% of Sub-Saharan Africans.
rs:2619522, the G alelle takes off 7 points.
It's similar to the first, found in 18% of Whites, 8% of East Asians, and 35% of Sub-Saharan Africans.
rs:2619538, the T allele adds 6.5 IQ points.
Europeans carry it 61% of the time, East Asians carry it 1% of the time, and Sub Saharan Africans 67% of the time.

These are racial differences in intelligence-altering genes, sir.

Correlation doesn't imply causation. Just because darker skinned Blacks have it worse doesn't mean it's because of their skin.

But there are two important groups - "Very dark brown" and "dark brown" - neither are close at all to European skin color but are slightly different from each other, the very dark having a lower average score than the dark.

Why is this so? What does a small, insigificant difference to the White population of the USA have to do with the scores? I can see very light skinned "Blacks" attempting to fit in with Whites more but "Dark" vs "very dark" doesn't seem to have the same advantage if that's what you'd call it.

Well, look through the review. More complex methodology is used, and we see no statistically significant association between skin color and IQ.

Once again, you're banking on data that is sketchy, and don't seem to realize that intelligence, is actually a phenotype. That is a trait that involves the environment as well. One could have such a genotype (still need to see the actual samples used), but that regressive expression is heavily environment-dependent.

PS: For the love of god, start posting the entire studies or don't bother. I am just seeing x copied nonsense, with the most necessary segments of the studies not included. You're better off directing us the link to the Stormfront thread or something.

Charles Lewis Neir III - The Shadow of Credit

That paper explains much of the environmental disparity within the United States. Keep in my paper by Hochschild did more and just provide a causality but provided evidence suggesting bias based on skin tone. Read below:

Also, I've decided to use google and search for Zinstock et al paper. Here are the findings in the results (Egan et al):

Here's a fine point you missed in Zinkstok's study. It would be a lot better if you actually posted the papers:

Strengths and limitations

Strength of our study is the relatively young age of the patients (mean age was 21 years in our sample versus approximately 40 years in the sample of Burdick et al [32]), therefore potential confounders, e.g. disease duration or chronic antipsychotic treatment, are unlikely to influence IQ measurements. Limitations of our study are small sample size and the use of an ethnically mixed sample. To reduce the risk for population stratification, we (1) adjusted for ethnicity in the case-control analyses; (2) used unaffected siblings as controls; (3) matched the unrelated controls for ethnicity; and (4) used additional family-based analyses which confirmed results of the case-control analyses. Therefore, we think it is unlikely our results are due to admixture. Multiple testing effects could also allow the occurrence of type I errors. Because we expect the contribution of individual genes to the risk of complex genetic disorders to be small, and because the tests we performed are not completely independent (LD between SNPs is high and VIQ, PIQ, and FSIQ are highly correlated) we consider the Bonferroni method too strict to correct for type I error. However, we acknowledge that our results would not survive other – less stringent – methods to correct for multiple testing. Therefore our findings are preliminary and need to be replicated in a large and genetically homogeneous sample. Also, most of our included patients are male; therefore results may not generalize to female patients. Finally, although we found no correlation between chlorpromazine equivalents and FSIQ, the use of antipsychotic medication is a potential confounding factor in our study since all patients used antipsychotics whereas neither the siblings nor the unrelated controls used any psychotropic medication.

Future directions

Future research will need to further investigate the complex genetic background of cognitive phenotypes in schizophrenia, including involvement of multiple susceptibility genes and gene-environmental interactions. Additionally, the use of combined techniques for measuring cognitive phenotypes, e.g. acquiring functional brain images during neuropsychological testing, may improve reliability and resolution of cognitive phenotypes in schizophrenia, thereby increasing power for molecular genetic studies.Link

This study, by the way, doesn't even attempt to introduce race into the equation. Gene-environmental (including gene-gene) interactions aren't well understood either. In sum, this isn't necessarily convincing evidence and this paper doesn't suggest the bottom-up view either. It would've been stated, in fact, and yet it doesn't.

Provide a link for the HapMap data. I don't see it in the stormfront thread either.

Bump. I've addresses genetics and intelligence as well. This thread, which Tibe the moron seems to dislike, demonstrates a more sound posting style. That is limited buffer and citing primary sources to back claims.

Just imagine if that was a universal. Our discussions would be well above the tenth grade average. Don't give me the "I don't wast time nonsense", it' clear that everyone, including Fawal, has invested into rather heavy posting habits in the past.

The argument against that is these students represent the higher echelon of cognition. That is, their performance is inherited. However, what we see above is that the children of African-American belong to that segment are regressing as well.

The process of inheritance have occurred, but the relationship with positive academic performance does not exist. That suggests to us that other factors exist, especially when assessing socio-economic status through more reliable indicators outside of wages. There are entire fields within flaw that deal with equity. I'm guessing they're wasting their time.

Saying that, the problem lies with white teachers and their overt racism. Instead of complaining, I'm just going to the point to the solution as privatizing education. Introduce corporate and military involvement into education and use those in under served areas to relieve shortages in various sectors. That would include engineering and the sciences, fields white kids don't want to do anymore.

I don't think the African students lead on ALL relevant educational indicators, across the board. The lead is in such things as higher number of advanced degrees, and higher graduation rates than whites. Some have correlated the higher degrees with higher IQs. The standard line about affirmative action is how hordes of supposedly "unqualified" blacks are "taking away jobs" - but in fact the REVERSE pattern is also represented and is seldom talked about- i.e. the use by whites of supposedly "progressive" affirmative action quotas to LIMIT and RESTRICT minority access to certain jobs and opportunities. Asian-Americans have long complained about just such practices in higher education (Thernstrom 2003).

There is a naive faith in "affirmative action" among some blacks, as if it were some sort of holy grail. This naive faith fails to see how it is being manipulated by whites. And indeed, the primary beneficiaries of "affirmative action" are not blacks but white women, who are also classified as "minorities" in numerous government categorization schemes. Indeed said white women are doing very well in today's economy and on college campuses, and in the educational system as a whole. The propaganda by white feminists so uncritically published in the media about "oppressed sisters" being paid less than men for doing the same job bears little relation to reality. The main cause of the pay differential between men and women is not the "oppression" claimed by white feminists, but hours on the job and marital status. Women of the same educational qualifications and time on the job earn equal pay with men, and that has been the case for almost 2 decades. Those who do not participate in the workforce or put in the same number of hours as men due to marriage and child-rearing tend to make less on the average. (Sowell 2004). Such mundane facts of course are much less dramatic than the picture of "oppression" painted by white feminists. If anything, white women are doing rather well. Its men who are struggling, and at the lower educational levels, boys (Hoff-Sommers 2002).


Also to be kept in mind is that on some counts of performance, blacks in certain eras were posting BETTER performance in the past than at present. Army intelligence tests during WWI for example saw black soldiers from various northern states (New York, Pennsy, etc ) score higher than whites from various southern states. All-black Dunbar High School in Washington DC prior to its decline in the 1960s routinely produced performances equal to or exceeding that of surrounding white schools. In certain schools of New York in the 1940s, black kids maintained parity with their white counterparts- sometimes a little lower, sometimes higher, but never miles behind the way many black students are today in the same city. (Sowell 1984- Inside American Education). This history of black achievement even amid the days of Jim Crow is often overlooked.

In any event, the example of the Africans and the Asians demonstrates that alleged white "leadership" in these areas is much less than advertised.

In the UN Human Development Index 2009, the country ranks 3rd in the Americas (after Canada and the United States) and 37th in the world in respect of educational attainment, as measured by adult literacy and enrolment at the primary, secondary and tertiary level.
