The Vikings weren't white as today's Europeans and that goes for the Greeks also. aDNA shows, yes, they had black "elements".

These researchers prefer to use the label Near East or Middle East thus distancing Europe from Africa. But you are correct , up to about the Medieval Age Europe seemed to be filled with Africans...of the Northern part of the continent.
