I know you people here love books about Africa and such, i.e. books on Ancient Egypt or books written by African writers - or books written by Africa-centric authors such as Laird Scranton (Sacred Symbols of the Dogon, etc).
EBooks have become standardised via the ".epub" XML-based format. These books are often aggregated on content provider sites (such as Feedbooks.com) and published for discovery and delivery using the OPDS system.
I have three pressing questions: 1. Is anyone AWARE of a content provider site that focuses on Africana books, free or not?
2. Is anyone here interested in starting a project to compile "free" Africana books into epub format that we can then publish via a website using the OPDS system?
3. Is anyone aware of a (AFRICANA BOOKS) PUBLISHER interested in making their books available via the OPDS system? And how can we effectively contact/communicate with such publishers??
This is a very important issue, I believe for the African community at large and I hope to recieve useful comments from the very knowledgable posters on this forum.
Thanks.
