The Lemba are one of the only groups of black Jews who are accepted as being "authentic" Jews by the mainstream world.
I've noticed that eurocentrics and racist, anti-black people like to claim the Lemba Jews are descendants of white caucasian men (for obvious reasons). Can't have people thinking that these black Jews are the originals, right?
They like to use the fact that the Lemba refer to themselves as "the white men who came from sena" as evidence that the Lemba people used to be white and descend from caucasian ancestors. See the second parapraph of this source: https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/lemba
However, in an interview with Lemba Rabbi Kohen Hamandishe (I believe it was this one: https://youtu.be/uNcWHsCCxVE) it was clarified that the phrase "the white men who came from sena" is in reference to the nobles of Judah/Israel.
For example, the Hebrew word for Noble = white/pure (e.g. Nehemiah 6:17), so the Lemba are basically saying they descend from pure/noble men of Judah -- not from literal white caucasians. _______________________________________
