Ben Hor is probably a movie base on the Egyptian religion and mythology fight of the God Horus (Iesu) and Set (Satan).

After the slaying of Osiris by his brother, the evil god Set, Isis enlisted the help of Nephthys and Anubis to reconstitute the body of Osiris. All of the scattered pieces of Osiris were found save his penis, which Isis then fashioned out of pure Gold. Once the body of Osiris was completely reassembled, Isis layed down with Osiris with the purpose of producing a son to avenge the death of her brother and husband Osiris.

Isis then went to Ra and intoxicated him with the wine of the Gods to receive from him his secret name, Horus, so that she may give this name to her son. In giving the child the secret name of Ra he would have the power of the Visible sun, and the Blood of the Hidden and Secret sun. This lineage of both night and day would ensure that he would be victorious and any battle against darkness that he would come across.

Set, hearing of this child, became furious and swore to kill any newborn male he came across. Isis bore Horus in secret promptly hid him away in a lotus flower. She told him to keep silent and think of nothing but her voice, and she would return when the time was right for him to emerge from the lotus. Isis was afraid that Set would find Horus prematurely and kill him, but Horus knew nothing of fear, Horus knew only the voice of his mother, Isis.

The time came, when the rest of the Gods came forth and demanded that a new king take the throne of the Slain Osiris. Isis proclaimed that Horus was the rightful heir to the thrown, but Set demanded that Horus was too young to hold the throne and that he should reign as the brother of Osiris. Isis went and got Horus out of the lotus flower and brought him before the rest of the Gods. There was much debate among the Gods. Thoth agreed that Horus should reign on the throne, but Ra sided with Set. Neith, the Mother, was consulted and she said that Horus would reign on the throne, but that she would double that everything Set owned as payment for his loss of the throne. Set would have no part of this arrangement. Set demanded that the he and Horus battle for the throne, being confident in himself that he could kill the child Horus. Ra continued to side with Set, while the rest of the Gods agreed with Neith in her judgment.

Set took off after Horus and demanded a contest for the throne. A series of contests were held including turning themselves into hippopotami and seeing who could hold their breath the longest and other such trivial challenges. During one challenge, Set plucked out the left eye of Horus. Thoth restored Horus’s eye and told him that this was the Light of the Moon. In another challenge Set sent a darkness over the right eye of Horus. Hathor poured some of her milk into Horus’s right eye and said this is the Light of the Sun.

Again, the other Gods declared that Horus would be the king. Set demanded one more contest, however. Set invited Horus outside to battle. After a short time Horus came back into where the rest of the Gods were with Set dragging behind bound in chains. Horus bound Set to a spike before the Gods and slew him. Set was defeated. hester Beatty Papyrus I
The Papyrus Chester Beatty I dates to the twentieth dynasty during the reign of Ramesses V and likely came from a scribe’s collection that was recorded for personal entertainment (Chester Beatty Pap I, Oxford). The papyrus contains the story of The Contendings of Horus and Seth and also various other poetic love songs. The original provenance of the papyrus was Thebes and, when found, the papyrus measured 55 cm. and had been torn and crushed.[1] The papyrus was published by the Oxford University Press in 1931 and currently is located in the Chester Beatty Library in Dublin.[2]

The story
Arguably the most important part of the Chester Beatty Papyrus I is the mythological story of The Contendings of Horus and Seth which deals with the battles between Horus and Set to see who will be the successor to the throne of Osiris. The specific time of the Contendings is a period during which the fighting has temporarily stopped and Seth and Horus have brought their case before the Ennead. Throughout the story, Horus and Seth have various competitions to see who will be king. Horus beats Seth each time. The beginning of the story is a sort of a trial when both Seth and Horus plead their cases and the deities of the Ennead state their opinions. Later in the story, the combat starts up again between Horus and Seth and finally, the situation is resolved when Horus is determined to be rightful king of Egypt.

Consequences of the story
The story of The Contendings of Horus and Seth is important to Egyptian society because of its significance to kingship. The story sets the pattern of inheritance for kingship in Ancient Egypt: father to son. The story is also significant to the idea of divine kingship because it sets up the idea of the triad of Osiris as the dead king, Horus as the living king on earth, and Isis as the king’s mother. This triad not only determines the heir to the throne, but it also suggests that the king must be male, which causes trouble for women who became kings, such as Hatshepsut of the eighteenth dynasty.

.It is worth noting that in the beginning of Egyptian dynastic history Seth was a member of the venerated gods of Egypt. It is Seth that stands in the bow of the boat of Ra and slays the enemies of Ra as the ship traverses the sky on it's daily journey. It seems that in very early times the followers of the god Seth may have been conquered by the followers of the god Horus whom went on to unite upper and lower Egypt. If that is true then Seths fall from power has historical and political beginnings. It also must be considered that the roots of these stories may lie in the fact that Seth was a deity of the night and darkness. Therefore, these battles may represent day verses night or dark verses light as well as the ideas of good verses evil. If we look at these stories with that in mind we find ideas like; "an aging king fighting the powers of darkness that are conspiring against him". This concept can easily be equated with the sun setting and being overpowered by the darkness of night. We can also assume that this battle rages through the night only to find that the sun is once again victorious with the sunrise. By midday, the enemy is all but defeated but the victory slips away as the forces of darkness join the battle as the day grows older towards sunset. And so the battle goes.

Cast of Deities:

Ra-Harakhte.............The aging King.
Thoth.........................God of wisdom and magic.
Osiris..........................King of the dead.
Horus.........................Brother of Osiris.
Horus Behudety......Horus of Edfu.
Seth............................Brother of Osiris.
Isis..............................Sister and wife of Osiris.
