I am going to Egypt on the 22nd to stay with a friend in Cairo. As she has already been to Luxor and Abu Simble she doesn't want to go again. I have a couple of questions which i would really appreciate some advice on:

1) can I join any tours that go to Karnak, Luxor temple, Edfu and Abu Simble?

2) Is it safe for women to go on these tours and travel alone?

3) Any idea of tour companies I should try out?

4) How long do you think this type of tour should take me?

Sara, You will safe in Egypt, it is one of the safest places on earth- do not believe the western media dear, it is all politics.
I do hawever advise you to go with an agency for the reasons of organisation only not safety-
If you got a friend in Egypt, then she should know where these agencies are, if not, when in Cairo go around the Tahreer Square you will find tens of these small compancies but do not decided once you been offered the package before roaming around .

It is always advisable to take a friend from Egypt, as they know how to bargain prices down-
By the way, Luxor, Abo Simble and aswan are really un missable places. do you shopping in Aswan and Khan El Khalili- but for gold go to non tourist places .
You are- from your name- a muslim, so I would not need to tell you about sort of clothing- and try to have a few days in Shar El Shaikh, take the bus from Cairo it is cheap - if you are a student, do not forget your student card, transports are cheaper then.
