There is always something or somebody that makes me smile or laugh here in Egypt.
The latest? When they open a new butcher here in this town, they parade the cows/buffalo down the street with friends/family of the person who owns the butcher shop, along with a truck playing music and advertising the name of the new meat shop.
I can't help but think, 'I could be eating those very animals next week.....'

To me, this seems infinitely more sensible than buying mass-produced meat from unidentifiable producers, in cling-wrapped packages, on supermarket shelves. At least you get to see the quality of what you will be eating! Posts: 2953 | From: Slightly south of Azkaban. | Registered: Aug 2006

true, but just to see it like a party, 'hey here comes the parade of next week's dinner' and music and dancing, and I watch from the balcony in all smiles
